Before Brandon Thomas was ever a sponsored rider he broke his femur while riding at OWC, where he was taken to the hospital where both his parents happened to be that same day. Shortly after arriving he was told that he would likely never be able to wakeskate again, that obviously did not turn out to be the case. BT has racked up some impressive wins, like at The Masters and Byerly's Toe Jam, to name a couple. We're talking with BT about hanging out with Dale Earnhardt, boat riding vs winching, riding for some of the industries biggest brands, ghost riding a jetski, winching in Las Vegas, Rockwilder, some Scott Byerly stories, and how he helped mentor Daniel Grant. What does the future of cable riding look like in America? In this episode we sit down with the Director of Operations at Aktion Parks, Kellan Rudnicki. Kellan got into wakeboarding at Ski Rixen, after initially trying to learn how to kiteboard and getting told he needs to hit the cable to learn board control first. Once falling in love with the sport, Kellan restarted the wakeboard club at his college UCF, then took a job out of the industry after graduating. Eventually an opportunity arose to get back into cable park ops, and Kellan worked his way back into the world of wakeboarding. Indian lines, ideal cable speed, industry infighting, decline of extreme sports, wake moms, profitability of cable parks, europe vs america, ski resorts vs cable parks, and grassroots events. Ready for 4 hours and 20 minutes of one of wakeboardings most passionate riders? Quinn Silvernale helps run one of the most unique and progressive wake parks in the world, Valdosta Wake Compound. Getting started wakeboarding behind the boat on a lake in Minnesota, Quinn knew he loved it. After highschool Quinn attended college at Valdosta State University in Georgia, and that's where he began to winch much more. From ditches to ponds, Quinn and his friends rode just about everything you could. After more inspiration, him and his roommate Luke Tilt drafted up a business plan to open their own cable park, starting with a couple 2 tower systems, eventually turning into what we have today. Playing football, X Games beef, Lucas Magoon inspo, $800,000 in pool liners, flooding a boat show, sketchy rails, winching vs. cable riding, and what it takes to run a wakepark. Hey Everyone and welcome back to another episode of Talk Of The Tao! I hope you all had great holidays and New Years! Up until now, we have had episodes featuring very current and active riders in the sport such as Tom, Terry & Cam, Joey and Blake Bishop. This time, I’d also like to include the people that have an impact on our sport way past my time and paved the way for us: I'm talking about the cable park owners and local legends all over the globe that help grow the wakeboard community and teach the Groms the ways to ride and progress. So this week is it down with 2 very special people that were my local legends raising me from my first ever overseas trip. Until now, I couldn’t be more stoked to have here Didi Anwar and AUM, the owner of Thai Wake Park on the Talk Of The Tao!
Welcome Back to another episode of Talk of the Tao! I just got back from travelling to Mexico for the WWA Wake Park Worlds combined with the WWA Boat Worlds. I felt it was Super Refreshing seeing riders from all over meeting up in one spot! It doesn’t happen too often so when it does it's a blessing! This week we are going +18. This episode does contain swearing which is not censored. There is explicit content that may be inappropriate for children, please listen at your own discretion. Blake Bishop, the Georgia raised American, gives us a glimpse into the life of having a private setup, taking me by surprise and talking about Blakes boat riding turning pro in 2015 representing brands such as Slingshot Sports Sesitec Trash Wax, Space Mob, Valdosta Wake Compound BuyWake and Ambush Board Co. You may have seen his Untamed Edit by Cole Vanhoff which dropped in 2016 or The Young Guns edit By Steffen Vollert in 2017.. So fast forward five years now Blake has been planning loads of ideas and I'll leave his handle and links to those videos in the description. Lets get into it, this is Blake Bishop on Talk of the Tao!
