Da Binge Bois have arrived to deliver you to the culmination of 2 years worth of podcasting, YouTubing and general content creation, the Supernatural season 15 and series finale review! Through the ups and downs of Sam and Dean Winchester's life to the ups and downs of the feelings towards Supernatural as a series, Da Bois and the boys have been through a lot together. Hopefully if you listened to all of these together with us or you just dropped in to hear the final and overarching discussion of the series, then we are glad you were a part of the journey. During the show, we discuss the overall effect the series had on us, how season 15 reflected the overall series with highs and lows that just wouldn't be Supernatural without, and the thoughts and opinions on the death of Dean and how the Winchester Brothers went out and said their goodbyes to the audience. Thank you for this fantastic journey over the last two years and during this with the announcement of our next holiday special series Peaky Blinders! If you can't wait until Peaky Blinders to hear our voices again, tune in Monday to hear us talk about Spirited Away, the classic Studio Ghibli film. Da Binge Bois and Winchester Boys are out! DA BINGE BOIS ARE BACK AND NOT BETTER THAN EVER. We painstakingly return to the world of Supernatural to let out our cries of pain as we witness the Winchester Brothers, Dean and Sam continue to fight the gambit of evildoers. This season, they must go head to head against Lucifer, The Men Of Letter (who we just called bruvs for those confused), and Satan's baby momma. Listen to Enrique, Eli and Tristan ramble about why they hate feel as though the fatigue of watching a show with 15 seasons has set in, why Supernatural has to retread old ground and none of the threats are believable as Dean and Sam have literally conquered God level opponent, and our "predictions" on what will be happening the last three seasons of the shows run! You can join us next week to hear us talk about the Anthony Mackie movie Synchronic, or you can join us on St. Patrick's Day for the season 13 review of Supernatural! In their new collection, Monstrous Women in Comics (University Press of Mississippi, 2020), Samantha Langsdale and Elizabeth Rae Coody put together a critical volume on the ways women are made monstrous in popular culture. This edited volume examines the coding of woman as monstrous and how the monster as dangerously evocative of women/femininity/the female is exacerbated by the intersection of gender with sexuality, race, nationality, and disability. The five sections of this book look at the cultural context surrounding varied monstrous voices: embodiment, maternity, childhood, power, and performance. This volume probes into the patriarchal contexts wherein men are assumed to be representative of the normative, universal subject, such that women frequently become monsters. The collection includes contributions by Novia Shih-Shan Chen, Elizabeth Rae Coody, Keri Crist-Wagner, Sara Durazo-DeMoss, Charlotte Johanne Fabricius, Ayanni C. Hanna, Christina M. Knopf, Tomoko Kuribayashi, Samantha Langsdale, Jeannie Ludlow, Marcela Murillo, Sho Ogawa, Pauline J. Reynolds, Stefanie Snider, J. Richard Stevens, Justin Wigard, Daniel F. Yezbick, and Jing Zhang. Rebekah Buchanan is an Associate Professor of English and Director of English Education at Western Illinois University. Her research focuses on feminism, activism, and literacy practices in youth culture, specifically through zines and music. She has written extensively on popular culture in the classroom, youth’s out of school literacy practices, music-based pedagogy, and punk, including her book "Writing a Riot: Riot Grrrl Zines and Feminist Rhetorics" (Peter Lang, 2018). What better place to discuss the cross country antics of the Winchester Brothers than the open road? While driving cross country, Jacob and Matthew took some time to talk Supernatural, examining the moral value of different kinds of non-humans, the relationship between Sam and Dean, and their willingness to make any and all sacrifices to save each other. Our schedules haven’t allowed us the chance to record under our normal conditions, and while talking about Supernatural while driving down the highway seems rather fitting, we know that the sound quality is a lot lower than what we like to provide you. Thank you for bearing with us, and we will be back to our normal recording conditions (and sound quality!) for our next episode.Agree or disagree with what we talked about, or want to add your own thoughts? Let us know! We recently started a Facebook Group, which is the best way to join in the conversations. You can also find us on Twitter or email us at superheroethics@gmail.com

Uh–Oh ATA Listeners! Cass has gone and poisoned the water hole leading to one of the best episodes of Supernatural that we've seen since Season 5. Yeah, I know at the end of last season Nico and I were ready to consider the show about the Winchester Brothers hunting the things that go bump in the night dead to rights but this week veteran Supernatural writer Ben Edlund picked us up in the Impala and took us on a thrill ride filled with eweey gooey shotgun shattering Leviathans, hallucinations of Lucifer and a shocking cliffhanger that will make you scream All Hell Breaks Loose Part 2 again. So as a result of Sam and Dean getting their mojo back, we've got a special treat for you, a discussion on Supernatural where Nico and I finally get to show you just how excited we can get about the show like in the old days before we started recording this podcast and the Brothers were hunting Yellow Eyes. However, just because our Supernatural (we're not worthy of Ben Edlund) Discussion is the main highlight for this week's episode don't count out our other sections because as promised we provided you with reviews of Doctor Who, Castle, the excellent Season Finale of Alphas, Person of Interest and Fringe that are totally worth listening to especially when it comes to crackpot theories about future episodes. Plus we have our Funniest Moments sections for Modern Family, The Big Bang Theory and Community that will show you why it's worth taking 30 minutes to watch each of these sitcoms.
On this podcast episode, you don't know what we can find, so why don't you come along with me ATA Listener on a magic carpet ride because this week of television got a little trippy as a Volkoff begins acting like Mr. Rogers on Chuck, Beckett starts hanging out with a writer that's not Castle, Bones believes that Booth saw a Yeti in Nepal, Clark is transported to a darker version of Smallville that exists on an alternate Earth, the Winchester Brothers are driving a Mustang instead of the Impala and to top it all off, Fringe gets animated literally! Thankfully, after a week of television that felt like puffing the Magic Dragon, Nico, Michael and I are here for you Listeners acting as the White Castle to cure your case of the munchies through a great discussion about how Castle, Bones and other police procedural shows are taking notes from each other on how to create lasting romantic tension and Michael joins us for a fairly in-depth discussion on Kent and the other final five episodes of Smallville that makes up for the shows obnoxious five-week hiatus. Speaking of Smallville, be sure to join us May 20 at 9:15/8:15 Central on ATA's Ustream channel for our Superman Live Show dedicated to discussing the Smallville Series Finale and remember for this event to be possible, we need all you listeners out there to send us your favorite Smallville Clark Kent/Superman memories by using e-mail, Facebook, Twitter, are YouTube Channel or this blog to answer the three following questions... What is your favorite memory from watching Clark Kent on the TV show Smallville? The weight andWhat is your favorite memory of the character of Superman? (This can come from anywhere, comics, the George Reeve Superman, the Christopher Reeve Superman movies, the many animated versions of Superman, Lois and Clark, Superman returns or something more obscure like buying your first Superman action figure.) How has the character of Superman inspired you personally or why do you love the character? Just as a minor note Michael and my excitement/sadness over the upcoming Smallville Series Finale caused our Smallville section to be a little long-winded this week making this podcast episode longer than usual so if you're not a Smallville fan just skip this section, which goes from 01:16:07 to 01:56:38 and you'll have a podcast that is our normal standard length.
Will Ritchie returns to the podcast to watch and discuss episode six from season one of Supernatural, "Skin". The Winchester Brothers head to St. Louis, Missouri to find out why one of Sam's college buddies is being accused of killing his wife, particularly since he would have to be in two places at once in order to commit the crime! Dean doesn't think it's their kind of case, but when the same situation happens to another couple in the same way, the boys decide to stick around. Please join Will and I as we talk about the overuse of exposition, the "as you know" scene, accessing a city's sewer system and showing the passage of time within a narrative. Remember to listen for the preemptive countdown before starting the episode on your DVD (and make sure to enable the recap function).
