Stopping to smell the concrete, an injection of inspiration fuel into the tank, and creating different stews. Kelly Finnigan (Monophonics, Kelly Finnigan) Kelly Finnigan “A Lover Was Born” Vinyl- https://www.coleminerecords.com/products/kelly-finnigan-a-lover-was-born "Distance as a measure of time and place informs Kelly Finnigan's, A Lover Was Born with a grit and grace that turns passion into virtue. The latest solo release from The Monophonics frontman roots itself in the best traditions of midwest soul labels like King, Curtom, Dakar, and the Bodie Recording Company. A Lover Was Born is a testimony that these deep cut grooves are not resigned to nostalgia, instead, they are at the burning heart of longing and hope. The journey Finnigan takes listeners on over Lover's eleven tracks echo the state of motion and growth since his solo debut, The Tales People Tell (2019). These two records bookend a prolific period of output, including a pair of Monophonics albums, a Christmas album, a mixtape, and a full slate of producing and engineering (The Ironsides, Alanna Royale, the Sextones). “There's nothing like making records,” says Finnigan. “It feels like that's my purpose — the reason I was put on this earth.” Written in California, Ohio, and Staten Island, Kelly Finnigan collaborated with old friends in and outside the studio. “I enjoy working alone but it's not how you want to make a record…almost everybody I brought in for this album I've worked with, toured with or spent a great deal of time with.” Max and Joe Ramey (The Ironsides), Jimmy James (Parlor Greens), Sergio Rios (Orgone), Joey Crispiano (Dap Kings) and Jay Mumford (aka J-Zone) all contribute to the overall sound of A Lover Was Born. Dramatic influences like Isaac Hayes (check out the piano on “Be Your Own Shelter”) and Jerry Ragovoy are chopped and folded into Northern Soul uptempo numbers to create stompers like “Get a Hold of Yourself” or “Chosen Few”. Finnigan's take on Deep Soul is captured brilliantly on “Walk Away from Me” and “Love (Your Pain Goes Deep)”, while Boom Bap pervades on hard hitters “His Love Ain't Real” & “Cold World”. Slower songs such as “Let Me Count the Reasons”, the emotional “All That's Left”, and the soul-stirring album closer “Count Me Out” show the honest and tender side that has become Finnigan's calling card. All the while, the voice is raw and earthy — in the best tradition of R&B shouters like Otis Redding, Lee Moses, and David Ruffin. The songs on A Lover Was Born reconfigure the spliced and sampled DNA of hip hop (extracted by crate diggers like Dilla and RZA) to create something new, underscoring both the spectrum and depth of soul while making a case to the timelessness of Finnigan's sound." On this flashback of Take It Personal Radio, we're hitting you with a remastered version of episode 50, our Hieroglyphics Tribute. This was a mammoth one. We've got special guests Slug, Murs, Apathy, J-Zone, The Grouch & Breakbeat Lou stopping by. We interview Del, Domino, Casual & Tajai and they've got stories for days! Del talks about doing shrooms with Q-Tip to Casual freestyling with Pharoahe Monch at the Gavin. We touch on Casual vs. Saafir and the impact it had on battle rap. We unfortunately find out Ice Cube wasn't a fan of Gang Starr and thought Kool Keith was too weird. Del explains what it was like not only being cousins with Ice Cube, but their musical similarities and his involvement earlier on in his career. We learn about Del's feelings towards the Gorillaz, while Domino breaks down just about every Hiero collaboration imaginable. We talk I Wish My Brother George Was Here, '93 Til Infinity, No Need For Alarm, Fear Itself, Like It Should Be and No Man's Land. We discuss their rap dominance prior to being dropped by the label. Tajai's breaks down his feelings towards the group's sophomore album and the importance of each album sounding different. This episode can be a slow burn or a fast one, but we all know Hiero is til infinity! www.takeitpersonalradio.com www.patreon.com/TakeItPersonal
Share This Inteview: https://youtu.be/8Q5YL1vLbEo F3 Uranium - https://f3uranium.com/ Corporate Presentation: https://f3uranium.com/investors/presentations/ F3 Uranium is advancing the newly discovered high-grade JR Zone on the PLN Property in the Western Athabasca Basin. This area of Saskatchewan is poised to become the next Uranium producer and home to large uranium deposits including Tiple R, Arrow and Shea Creek. F3 Uranium currently holds 18 projects across the Athabasca Basin. During the fall 2022 exploration drill program, F3 Uranium made a new uranium discovery at the A1 conductor on its 100%-owned Patterson Lake North (‘PLN') property. Discovery hole PLN22-035 intersected extremely radioactive and off-scale (65,535 CPS) pitchblende mineralization. Uranium assay results from the discovery hole returned one continuous 15.0 m interval averaging 6.97% U3O8 including a high-grade 5.5 m interval averaging 18.6% U3O8, which further includes an ultra-high grade core which assayed 59.2% U3O8 over 1.0 m. Three follow up holes intersected up to 63,400 cps and expanded the high-grade mineralization both up-dip and 23 m along strike, grid south. A 21 hole winter drill program was recently completed that resulted in extending the strike length of the JR Zone to a length of 105m. This new discovery is located 25 km northwest of the Patterson Lake area, host to Fission Uranium's Triple R and NexGen's Arrow world class uranium deposits which is poised to become the next major area of development for new uranium operations in northern Saskatchewan. The Company's management headed up by Dev Randhawa as CEO & Chairman, with Raymond Ashley, as President, and Sam Hartmann as VP Exploration, is the team that founded Fission Uranium in 2012 and made the Triple R discovery at Patterson Lake. The same team also founded Fission Energy, making the J-Zone discovery at Waterbury Lake in the eastern Athabasca Basin, and built Fission into a TSX Venture 50 Company. In April 2013 Fission Energy sold the majority of its assets to Denison Mines and certain assets were spun out into Fission Uranium. F3 Uranium was incorporated in October 2013 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Fission Uranium. F3 Uranium Corp. is the third generation Fission run by one of Canada's leading uranium exploration teams. On November 2013, Fission 3.0 completed a plan of arrangement under the Canada Business Corporations Act involving Alpha Mineral and Fission Uranium pursuant to which Fission Uranium acquired Alpha Minerals' 50% interest in the Patterson Lake South (PLS) project. As a result of the transaction, certain properties and assets of Fission Uranium, including the Patterson Lake North (PLN) property, became assets of F3 Uranium Corp. which is no longer a wholly owned subsidiary of Fission Uranium. Interview with Dev Randhawa, Chairman & CEO of F3 Uranium Corp. Our previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/f3-uranium-fuu-10m-inflow-high-grades-keep-coming-3100Recording date: 21st May 2024F3 Uranium (TSXV:FUU) is an exploration company focused on making the next world-class uranium discovery in Saskatchewan's prolific Athabasca Basin. With a management team that has already delivered three significant discoveries - the J Zone, Triple R, and JR Zone - F3 is well-positioned to create value through the drill bit.The company's flagship Patterson Lake North (PLN) project is located on the western side of the Basin, an area that has seen less historical exploration than the eastern side but is now attracting attention from major players like Denison Mines. F3's initial discovery at PLN, the JR Zone, has returned impressive uranium grades over hits 42.4%, 55.4% and 66.8% uranium oxide U3O8. While the JR Zone is a promising start, F3 is focused on finding additional mineralized pods in close proximity to build out a larger deposit footprint. Management believes the JR Zone has the potential to be part of a multi-pod system, similar to other large Athabasca deposits like Denison's Wheeler River. To fund this exploration, F3 has a strong treasury of approximately $40 million. Notably, $15 million of this came from a strategic investment by Denison Mines, which was attracted to F3's dominant land position and discovery potential on the western side of the Basin. This investment provides capital and serves as a vote of confidence from a knowledgeable industry player.F3 also plans to spin out its non-core assets into a new vehicle (F4) while retaining a significant ownership stake. This transaction will allow F3 to focus entirely on its key projects around Patterson Lake North without the distraction of managing non-core properties. The company is also well-positioned to benefit from a rising uranium price environment. With the world increasingly focused on decarbonization and energy security, nuclear power is experiencing a resurgence. At the same time, uranium supply remains constrained after years of low prices. This has created a structural deficit that should support higher uranium prices going forward. For investors, F3 Uranium offers a compelling mix of exploration upside and uranium market exposure. With a proven management team, prospective geology, a strong treasury, and supportive market fundamentals, the company has the key ingredients for success. While exploration is always a risky endeavor, F3's track record and potential make it a company to watch in the Athabasca Basin.View F3 Uranium's company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/f3-uranium-corpSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

In episode 78 I talk to Jay "J-Zone" Mumford about Kool and The Gang, an American R&B/soul/funk band formed in Jersey City, New Jersey, in 1964 by brothers Robert "Kool" Bell and Ronald Bell, with Dennis "Dee Tee" Thomas, Robert "Spike" Mickens, Charles Smith, George Brown, and Ricky West. They have undergone numerous changes in personnel and have explored many musical styles throughout their history, including jazz, rhythm and blues, soul, funk, disco, rock, and pop music. Their most successful albums of this period include Ladies' Night (1979), Celebrate! (1980), and Emergency (1984), their highest selling album with two million copies sold in the US.
The drummer formerly known as the rapper J-Zone, Jay Mumford, tells me a story he's told many times: how he changed courses musically in his mid-30s. But this time he gets meta. I ask him if he likes talking about this! He reflects on nostalgia writ large and how it plays out in Instagram stories when people use old songs of his he hates. And we frame it all in terms of his switch being an ultimate coma moment.Content warning: chronic migraines, quitting, starting over, Questlove, the hell of social media, being known for what you want to be known for.Patreon supporters make This Is Your Afterlife possible and get awesome bonus episodes. The Du-Rites' JAY MUMFORD, formerly known as the producer/emcee J-Zone, has worn many hats throughout his career—rapper, beat-maker, DJ, author/journalist, and finally drummer. J-Zone developed an underground rap following during the early 2000s indie hip-hop explosion. As he got older, Mumford grew increasingly jaded with the rap industry, before bottoming out. Sitting on the throne of a drum set, Jay would rediscover his passion for the funk music that first inspired him as a teenager. The major transition began to take shape in 2011, when J-Zone attempted to quit rap, write a hip-hop memoir, and start over as “Jay Mumford on drums” in his mid-30's. An unlikely story, but one definitively his own. On Episode 065, with no holds barred Jay Mumford takes us through this roller-coaster journey, career highlights, lowlights, battles between his ears, and a-ha moments along the way. 2:30 - Thanks to Discovery 2023, Bicycle Day, Electric KoolAid for sponsoring ep.065 6:30 - The Upful Update 9:45 - Introducing JAY MUMFORD (fka J-Zone) 13:30 - INTERVIEW w/ Jay (119 mins) Currently, Jay Mumford holds down the drumkit in a few bands, his main gig is The Du-Rites, a garage-funk duo with Tom Tom Club guitarist Pablo Martin. Mumford has been working with Adrian Quesada's solo projects, including a performance on Austin City Limits with an 18-piece ensemble, an evening Jay refers to as the best experience of his 25 year career. Mumford remains renowned for his ‘Royalty Free Drum Breaks' drum packs, ideal for sample-based producers to mine meticulously-crafted breakbeats laid down in his late grandparents' basement. For a few years, he moonlit as a music journalist, blogging nuanced topics in hip-hop and drummer culture. Jay hosted the phenomenal ‘Give The Drummer Some,' - an illuminating interview series for now-defunct Red Bull Music Academy. The talk radio-style program highlighted the songs, lessons, and legacies of underground/unsung heroes from the ‘60s and ‘70s. ***Deep Bow*** to Jay for this thoughtful, personal, inspiring conversation. Imagine giving a decade of your life to building a music career ... Only to find yourself hating your catalogue years later. What would you do? If you're Jay Mumford a.k.a. J-Zone, you nearly leave the business entirely, only to come back, leave again and completely re-invent yourself. Which is exactly what he did.And now, he couldn't be happier – and his band The Du-Rites couldn't be making funkier jams if they tried.Beginning his musical career as a teenager interning as the famed Power Play Studios in Queens, NY in 1992, J-Zone released his first album – Music For Tu Madre – as his senior project at Purchase College (SUNY) in the late 90s. He would spend the next decade making ribald rap music that was lyrically influenced by the likes of 70s icons like Dolemite and musically by groups like Slave and the Ohio Players. His production talents (often found on his own label, Old Maid Entertainment), saw him work with a number of artists including Gnarls Barkley, the Lonely Island, E-40 and the late Biz Markie among others. Then, in 2008, he quit. He would return briefly between 2013-2016, releasing two more albums under his J-Zone moniker, 2013's introspective but still curmudgeonly Peter Pan Syndrome and 2016's Fish N' Grits. He would also release a book (Root for the Villain) during his hiatus detailing his musical career, in addition to teaching at his alma mater and writing for outlets such as Ego Trip and SLAM Magazine. Now, he is pursuing his true passion: Playing drums as a member of The Du-Rites, the band he started with longtime collaborator Pablo Martin in 2013. On this episode of A Tight 45 (out on all major platforms on Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2021), Mumford tells the full story of music career as well diving into where it's going on the eve of The Du-Rites new six-song EP, Pressure. Tabari also manages to find the time to ask one of his favorites a number of random questions longstanding fans will want to know, including whether or not he ever heard from Lucy Liu and what his dream car would be if he could get it. Check out this episode and others you may have missed at https://atight45.buzzsprout.com/or wherever you get your podcasts today! Jay Mumford is the personification of the saying “it’s never too late.” Growing up as a son of music aficionados, Jay dove deep into the hip hop world, becoming a producer and beat maker. The Big Rap Cookbook podcast explores the connection between food and hip hop through interviews with MC's, DJ's & Producers. And we are back for Season 2! On this episode: Drummer for the Du-Rites, author of Root for the Villain, host of the Red Bull podcast Give the Drummer Some and MC in a previous life, J-Zone. As the lucky few of you who own a copy will know, J contributed a recipe to the first issue of our cookbook and we got to spend some time with him in Manhattan back in 2018. We still recount the stories he told us to this day so it was only right we got him on the podcast to tell them himself! We spoke about his Greg Nice inspired weight loss program, how he stays fuelled to play drums and his unique way of whipping up meals at home using his favourite takeaway spots. A big shout out to The Last Skeptik for providing us with the intro & outro music! BANG! @southernvangard #radio presents the BREEZE BREWIN interview session! Yeah you read it right, Vangardians. Where do you even start - wait, how about this - “HINDSIGHT”, Breeze’s debut solo LP, is finally out everywhere and it’s a BURNER like you knew it would be! Breeze gives us the behind the scenes goods on the making of the album, why now is the right time to drop and the incredible support he’s been getting since released, including from a close friend who just happens to be one of the best MC / producer’s on the planet, the only and only El-P. We also rap about Brewin’s often-looked over prowess behind the boards, what he’s working with technology wise from a production standpoint and when we might see more production work from him in the future. You know we crack open the history books - JUGGAKNOTS, FAT BEATS, PRINCE PAUL, CAMU TAO (RIP), COPYWRITE, J-ZONE, the list goes on and on, you can imagine the stories. However, not to get stuck in the past, we also hear about the newly formed MATIC ENTERTAINMENT and how its roster is remerging in a big way - from CARTA P and RAY FOGES recent albums, QUEEN HERAWIN making serious feature rounds, and oh - how about an Breeze & SEBB BASH project that might just be around the corner? Alright we’ve given y’all enough, it’s time to press play, cop HINDSIGHT today and tell a friend it’s nothing but that #SmithsonianGrade #TwiceAWeek #WeAreTheGard // southernvangard.com // @southernvangard on #applepodcasts #stitcherradio #soundcloud #mixcloud #youtube // #hiphop #rap #undergroundhiphop #boombap #DJ #mix #interview #podcast #ATL #WORLDWIDE #RIPCOMBATJACK Recorded live February 1, 2021 @ Dirty Blanket Studios, Marietta, GA southernvangard.com @southernvangard on #applepodcasts #soundcloud #youtube #spotifypodcast #googlepodcasts #stitcherradio #mixcloud #SmithsonianGrade #TwiceAWeek #WeAreTheGard twitter/IG: @southernvangard @jondoeatl @cappuccinomeeks

BANG! @southernvangard #radio presents the ZILLA ROCCA and CHONG WIZARD interview session! This Phildelphia MC and Vancouver DJ/producer have been on their own individual tears the past few years. Zilla with his work with RAY WEST and ALASKA, as well as putting in work with THE WRECKING CREW, which counts CURLY CASTRO, PREMROCK and SMALL PROFESSOR as members. Chong just wrapped up his 6-part INFINITY STONE series and is at the helm of his own record label, with recent physical releases from CHRIS CRACK, LORD JUCO, NAPOLEON DA LEGEND, RANSOM and NICHOLAS CRAVEN. This fall, Zilla and Chong come together for MIDNIGHT SONS, a conceptual album loosely inspired by the comic supergroup of the same name. We talk about the genesis of the project, how features from NATURE, BILLY WOODS, LORD JUCO, CURLY CASTRO, ALASKA, DENMARK VESSEY and PREMROCK came to be and why J-ZONE unknowingly ended up shaping the entire sound of the album. The duo also break down the significance of having MALIK B (RIP) on the record, who unfortunately passed this summer very soon after recording his verse, and how RALPHIIE REESE came through in the clutch to get the verse recorded. You know what it is, Vangardians - so cap off a hectic week with your guys Doe & Meeks, light it up, pour it out ‘cause it’s that #SmithsonianGrade #TwiceAWeek #WeAreTheGard // southernvangard.com // @southernvangard on #applepodcasts #stitcherradio #soundcloud #mixcloud #youtube // #hiphop #rap #undergroundhiphop #boombap #DJ #mix #interview #podcast #ATL #WORLDWIDE #RIPCOMBATJACK Recorded live November 1, 2020 @ Dirty Blanket Studios, Marietta, GA southernvangard.com @southernvangard on #applepodcasts #soundcloud #youtube #spotifypodcast #googlepodcasts #stitcherradio #mixcloud #SmithsonianGrade #TwiceAWeek #WeAreTheGard twitter/IG: @southernvangard @jondoeatl @cappuccinomeeks
Let the Record Show – the crate-dug interview series in which musicians, DJs, rappers, and producers discuss their favorite songs of all time as the tracks spin on vinyl – continues with its “Socially Distant Series” of video-conference episodes. Episode 49 features indie-rap-sensation-turned-funky-drummer J-Zone. With the release of the fifth Du-Rites album A Funky Bad Time coming on November 13th, J-Zone joins hosts Mike Pizzo and Warren Peace to dig through some of his favorite tracks. Early 90s hip-hop deep cuts from Ice Cube, Terminator X, Schoolly D and Tim Dog show the clear influence seen in J’s early rap solo recordings on Old Maid Entertainment, while a selection of refined rare grooves from Kool & The Gang, Slave, and Jack DeJohnette exemplify his love for drumming as a part of The Du-Rites. In each case, oddball pressings and vinyl rarities are showcased for each song. J-Zone’s appearance on Let the Record Show marks the 49th episode in the series and the fourteenth episode of Season 4. Guests on previous episodes this season have included Cut Copy, Blu & Exile, Sofi Tukker, The Free Nationals, R.A. The Rugged Man, RJD2, Little Brother, Cam O’bi, Dudley Perkins, YehMe2, Rittz, SNAILS and Malik.
It's 1979, two albums come out - 'Just a Touch of Love' by Slave, and The Specials' self titled effort. Two totally different albums. One is a funk classic and the other is a British ska revival album. 41 years later because of those two records and the impact they had on two musicians, you got a guy who was playing guitar in El Corte, and you had another guy in the states listening to Baritone Tiplove. They come together, join forces, and are now one of the premier funk bands of the last half decade. Their newest album #5 'A Funky Bad Time' drops in November! We chat about Pablo Martin's (guitar, bass, synthesizer) journey through music as well as the gems you know and love from J-Zone (drums, organ, etc) who comes back to the podcast after a year. Enjoy! My guest this episode is drummer, producer, author, and former rapper, J-Zone. We talk about his new 7” single from his project The Du-Rites with Tom Tom Club guitarist Pablo Martin along with his transition from being a rapper to solely being a drummer/producer. A lot of the frustrations and lack of passion that J-Zone talks about with being a rapper is very interesting and something that I think a lot of people feel in their own creative spaces. Being someone that has been a jack-of-all-trades type person also in the past, his perspective on that and focusing more on specific trades really hit home with me, so this interview is a great listen for anyone in any artistic space. Go cop his new 7” single from The Du-Rites, “Jheri Curl” b/w “Du Vibrations”, on Bandcamp at thedurites.bandcamp.com. Zone has been making strides with his own Funk project The Du-Rites and continuously building his rep in the drumming world - and those influences are surely available in this mix. We get crackling drums and boppin' baselines of that 60s and early 70's soul and funk right here. This is that up in the morning motivation kind of mix, or that late night groove. It's a head nodder. Make sure that you go back to our original interview all the way back on Episode 57! Don't sleep on his original music (especially if you dig this kind of vibe) hit https://j-zone.bandcamp.com and drop a couple bucks!! Also, please do us a favor and help spread the word on this show. It is 200% word of mouth and I want you to send this link to any friends you may think dig!! I mean that. Thanks for listening! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
AC The PD - Mixtape #1 - You Know My Style: "Classics Of The Past, Present and Future!"This is the first A.C. The Program Director mixtape ever made to put on the market, released only on cassette originally late 1999 or 2000, then we decided to remaster it and re-release it on CD a few years later ... Enjoy! There is now over 2000 mixtapes and counting with a new mixtape every Monday Night Fresh on HipHopPhilosophy.com Radio ...I only mix music I never played before ...There is a whole world of great new music that the radio won't play ... I live to find and share it ...If you want to support HipHopPhilosophy.com, our email address at Paypal.com is programdirector@hotmail.com ... Venmo ID: hhpradio ... Cashapp: $acthepd1. Natural Elements - Bust MineThere is still lots of NE records that I can't find, and I'm always looking ... If you call yourself a HipHop fan and you don't know who Natural E is, you ain't HipHop ...2. People Under The Stairs - AssholeThose close to me know why I can relate to the song so much ... When I found this group's music, I was very disappointed in LA for not celebrating them early ... most well-known LA (so-called) HipHop Dj's (sucker Dj's) slept ... game players ... This ain't no game ...3. Vakill & J.U.I.C.E - Out The SpeakersJUICE on The PD's first mixtape release ... The dopest who can make good records and battle anybody ... But his LP's have mostly lackluster beats and he deserves better ...4. Onyx - Shout (RMX) This white label is still fresh ... Too bad they lost "IT" too, because they most definitely had "IT" once upon a time ... Now they work with toys and rap on wack beats 99% of the time... 5. Biggie Smalls - Party and Bullshit (RMX)The first Biggie song I ever heard ... He could have had a legendary album legacy like Gang Starr, but he and Puffy threw that away for pop money and fame ...6. D.O.C. - Portraits Of A Masterpiece When this record was new, I listened to it over and over till I memorized all of the lyrics, because it was difficult ... Extremely fresh rhymes from one of the freshest MC's ever ... And one of the saddest stories ... This is real west coast HipHop, not that bullshit those bubble-gum Rap dudes call 'west coast' ...7. Large Professor f/ B-1 - Put Yourself In My PlaceThis is that Xtra large funk!!! ... Fast or slow, that ultra-ghetto bboy funk ... Stop playing those played-out records, sucker DJ's ... Hollywood sucker Dj's with Looking At The Front door in their crate!8. Big Noyd - All ProMy favorite joint from his above average debut LP ... But shit! Why can't great talents like this keep up dope beats after they get in the door?9. Lone Catalysts - PoliticsJ.Sands and J.Rawls, not to be slept on ... One of those records people always ask "who's that?" when I play it ...10. Promoe - Off The RecordWhen I first mixed and released this mixtape only on cassette, before I remastered it, side one of the tape ran out and cut this song off ... So many people asked me to bring it back so it's only of only two records that appear on two different AC The PD mixtapes ...11. Ed O.G. & The Buldogs - I'll Rip You The original version of this mixtape had I'm Laughin here, but I replaced it with this slept-on gem, because I brought I'm Laughin back on #9 before I re-released this mixtape on CD ... This album is super slept-on! I miss the Ed OG of the early 90's, cuz Earbola has plagued his post-2000 era heavy ...12. J-SS - The Look Of LoveThis was a great song and record, for a minute, till the whole style was recycled over and over ... Even though I can't play the record anymore, it's still capable of sounding fresh when mixed among other still-fresh music ... Take note sucker Dj's!13. Kid Capri - You Know My Style -I brought this record back too, on #9, because at the time, I had no idea I would re-release this mixtape on CD ... But this is the title track for this mixtape, so I had to leave it on ...14. Ultramagnetic MC's (Kool Keith) - MC Champion -One of many super slept-on, forgotten, left out, missed joints from the all-time great Funk Your Head Up LP ... The album gets better with time ... Had to use just Keith's verse on this song though, because Ced Gee was obviously starting to lose "IT" on this album ...15. Biggie Smalls - Suicidal ThoughtsMy favorite Biggie record ever ... No wonder, it was the only Lord Finesse production on Ready To Die ... Too bad Biggie let a pop mogul ruin his potentially legendary album recording legacy ...16. Kool G Rap - Edge Of SanityEverybody's favorite rappers' favorite rapper ... Another super slept-on, under-played LP non-single joint ... After the Roots Of Evil album, Earbola has set in heavy on G Rap, one of the best ever... He lasted a LONG time before he lost his ear ...17. Mobb Deep and Tragedy - LA, LA I thought these dudes would never lose "IT" ... I was wrong, as usual ... lol ... But legendary none-the-less ...18. Louis Logic - FactotumThe song that made me a big fan ... Perfect production, direction, arrangement, cuts, sampling, everything! Lou was quite unhappy with us when when didn't like his later releases ... Earbola eats the soul ...19. Newark Anonymous Clik - Newark Shit -This song reminds me of my homey DJ 3rd Rail from SD ... and the old Spike Radio show we used to do once a month together with him back in the 2000 era ... HARDCORE!!!20. Maspyke - Far East Politics -Sadly Earbola got to this crew early, because they definitely had "IT" ... Wish them the best though, for real ...21. J Zone - Calamine Lotion I 22. J Zone - Calamine Lotion II #HipHopPhilosophy was the first to bring J Zone to LA for a show (... and Jedi Mind Tricks, MF Doom, Cormega, Demigodz, Count Bass D, Percee P, Dooley O, Ed OG, etc. ...) ...23. Lord Finesse - Baby You NastyFrom the OG vinyl Baby You Nasty 12" ...

Episode 9 might be titled the Calm Before The Storm, but it's anything but. Our next show will be a DJ Premier tribute, so we wanted to take a short break from the tributes and get back to the traditional potpourri show. Special guest, Aaron Wade, sat in with us as we discussed and dissed each other's Hip-Hop Mount Rushmore. We also announced the winner of our Evolution of The B-Boy Sticker pack contest and play some ridiculously dope music from Mobb Deep, Jeru The Damaja, Brand Nubian, Kool G. Rap, Gang Starr, Ice Cube, Das EFX, People Under The Stairs, Insight, J-Zone and Supastition. Plus, we threw in some new jawns by King Magnetic, Kendrick Lamar and a special K-Def/DJ 360 Beneficence remix. So, while you're listening. think of who you'd put on your Mount Rushmore and then share your picks with us in the comment section. RIP Don Rickles!
