We've enjoyed this conversation with Rosslyn, who is nothing short of amazing with all of the things she's done in her career. QUEEN of all things music, Roslynn has that strong #PinayExcellence mentality that we should be inspired by! LOVE - a four-letter word that sounds as simple as it is complicated but at the end of the day, we all agreed that a majority of Filipinx are suckers for romance. In this episode, we go into a deep dive on what we've learned about love, what we think about love, and we shared some of our KILIG moments that some of us are embarrassed to admit. Dating is one of the toughest cultures for us to crack when we first moved to America. The Philippines' dating scene is a lot more conservative, family-oriented, and slower-paced compared to the American culture. Dating in the '90s, in a pretty conservative culture means the man has to do a lot of work before getting a woman's attention before deciding that you're a match. There's a lot of "playing hard to get" - because it is all about the chase. There were no dating sites back then so everything relied on organic interactions. We honestly prefer it. We don't think we really got acclimated to the American way but of course, we had to make adjustments to "fit in". But what was dating like for teenagers who attend an all-girls Catholic school? It can be tricky but if there is a will, there is always a way. :)Please follow, subscribe, and leave a comment. You can also connect with us on Instagram @allabroadpodcast. We are very open-minded and respectful of different lifestyles and although we do not know it all, we are always open to learning more! MEG is our in-house LGBTQ representative and subject matter expert and in this episode, we share with you some childhood memories and opinions of the Gay community. Back in the 80's and 90's, the term LGBTQ wasn't a "term" yet. We still have a lot to learn and if you want to join in the conversation, please comment below. We would love to hear from you. We filmed this in October in honor of LGBTQ HISTORY MONTH.From https://lgbthistorymonth.com/: In 1994, Rodney Wilson, a Missouri high school teacher, believed a month should be dedicated to the celebration and teaching of gay and lesbian history, and gathered other teachers and community leaders. They selected October because public schools are in session and existing traditions, such as Coming Out Day (October 11), occur that month.Gay and Lesbian History Month was endorsed by GLAAD, the Human Rights Campaign, the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, the National Education Association and other national organizations. In 2006 Equality Forum assumed responsibility for providing content, promotion, and resources for LGBT History Month. Please follow, subscribe, and leave a comment.
