Tim, Wess, George and Myself sit down to tell some lies and share some laughs after the first few days of the 2025 turkey season! 

The MOST asked question we get is what kind of boots do I wear....The answer is Crispi! So, we asked Lars from Crispi to join us for a poscast to chat about the new models they have coming out as well as some changes to their standbys. We also spend a good bit of time talking about chasing chukars and other birds that are still on Lars's bucket list.  

Ryan is the Director of conservation at Meateater, a public lands advocate, and on the board of directors of BHA, and host of Cal's Week In Review Podcast. Ryan and myself dive in to alot of the issues that we are facing in relation to public lands. Cal does a great job of breaking down all the issues that are going on. Then we switch gears and start talking about bird hunting and his dog, Snort.

Patrick Berry is the new President and CEO of Back Country Hunters and Anglers and a life long outdoorsman.  For those of you that are unfamiliar with BHA ( one of my favorite conservation groups) they are a passionate public land advocate and do a great job of tracking anti public land legislation. They also work on things that benifit all of us on a more local level. Such as stream clean up, fence removal, and habitat projects. I really hope you all enjoy this episode. Im sure I am not alone in struggling with the confusion that is going on right now in the political arena. Trying to figure out what is real and what isnt is a full time job. Thats why I was thrilled to sit down and talk some of it through with Patrick.

Travis joins Wess and Tyler to chat about all of the events coming up at Pheasant Fest in Kansas City! We talk about the live podcast the Flush is doing and explain the trivia game that Travis hosts. Tyler and Scott Fransen will be trying to stop George Lyall from the hat trick!  We also talk a little Twins Baseball!

On this weeks episode we continue our series on tips and tactics. This week in honor or Pheasant Fest we cover the mighty Disco Chicken! Tim Brown joins Wess, George and Myself to discuss the difference in early season vs late season. We also talk about the different tactics that we use to be put more birds in the bag.

Ryan and Jace Newmarker are a father and son team that are Chukars worst nightmare. They have great dogs and the knowledge to get out and put big numbers of birds on the ground.  The Podcast you are about to hear comes two days after one of the greatest hunts of my life and its all thanks to these two. Its still the same silly podcast! 7 Years ago when I started this show it was called The Western Wingshooter Podcast, now it is again.  Wess and George have been along on this ride with me since the start, so I figured who better to have on this episode. We discuss the changes the podcast has gone through over the years and why I decided to change the name back. We also talk about chasing roosters for the last few weeks. After the first 3 days of the North Dakota Sharptail and Hun Season we have come to the conclusion that the numbers of birds are WAY down from last season. After nearly 20 miles of walking I have seen less grouse than miles walked.  Wess and George and Myself sit down to talk about theories and more.

Man alive! What a trip! On our last night of the Grouse tour all of us sat down to recap the highs and lows of our trip.  Central Montana was lousy with birds this year and boy did we need it after chasing mountain birds. There were plentiful numbers of Sage Grouse. The best numbers of Huns and Sharptails that I have ever seen in the country. And we even found a rattlesnake and lived to tell the tale! Well boys and girls it aint easy out west! This hunt has been a good reminder that not every day is easy. In fact day 1 of this hunt was brutal. But we kept after it and found some birds. Randy Newberg is the host of Fresh Tracks, the former president of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Conservationist, Hunter, Trapper, Fisherman, and a grouse killing on of a gun! On top of all of that he is one of the nicest people in the outdoor industry. 

Tim Brown and Myself go over listener Questions. Topics discussed include favorite shotguns, boots we wear, types of cloths, what we look for when scouting hunting spots, and more. We also talk about our recent fishing trips. Whats been working and how fishing has been. And we poke a little fun at our buddy, Travis Frank.

Seth and Myself chat about his love of not only hunting birds with a gun and a dog, but also with a camera. His instagram page is one of my favorite follows. Some of his pictures of wild grouse in wild places are incredible. Our conversation covers what goes into getting some of these pictures and also what makes each one of them special.

In these episodes we will answer any and all listener questions and share some stories and laughs. We will primarily be talking about the outdoors activities that we are doing during all seasons of the year. On todays episode I am talking with Brittany French. Brittany grew up on a cattle ranch by Dodge City Kansas and got into the outdooors at a early age. She has taken her passion for the outdoors and now helps run the Outdoor Mentors. Helping teach kids that are interested in the outdoors how to do things the safe and right way.

The Ruffed Grouse Society and American Woodcock Society do so much good work in the woods across the country. On this episode we share a bunch of laughs and knowledge on these great birds.

While at Pheasant Fest in Sioux Falls Matt and I took an hour out of an incredibly busy event to sit down and chat for an hour. We chat about him and his dogs, hunting upland birds in Hawaii, and much more. 

Tim Brown is an iowa bird hunter. He spends lots of time in the field with his dogs across multiple states each fall. We chat about his trip to north dakota last fall, pheasant hunting techniques, turkey hunting and the wonders of social media.

Pete is a former Lab trainer and knows the inner workings of dogtra collars better than anyone. He joins me on the podcast this week to talk about the products that he uses and why.

The Armed Forces Initiative is doing some amazing work getting veterans involved in the outdoors. It started back in 2019 and has been growing ever since. In the last year the hosted 2300 veterans at 146 events in 46 states across the US! Hope you guys enjoy this episode!  

Last day in Kansas Scott, Fred and myself carved out a little time before we hit the road to give each other a hard time, share some laughs and tell some stories. 

Man! this has been a wild ass trip! Me and all my friends sat down after our first day of hunting in kansas to talk about some of our favorite moments of the trip so far. We discuss the lower Mearns quail numbers, Old dogs and young dogs, and a significant amount of shit talking.

Yep, Chukar hunting is hard after all. Big surprise I know. After the first stop on our B3 cross country road trip we sat down to tell the tale. Bruce Potter, Nate Burbach, Nick Schade and myself recount the lessons learned and calories burned in pursuit of one of the most extreme upland bird hunts that there is.

So, this one was a podcast i was worried about. The pay to play arguement is a real issue for me. Im not in favor of it, so I was uneasy with the idea of doing a podcast with a company called landtrust when they emailed me.  Im still not in favor of it and wont pay to hunt myself, but I did enjoy the debate with Nic.
