Send us Fan Mail Alex Rutledge and Redbone sit down with Chef Corey Freeman — a Le Cordon Bleu-trained chef, apple orchard owner, and passionate hunter on a mission to harvest a wild turkey in all 49 states. Corey shares what it was like cooking at turkey camp alongside Tyler Farr, breaks down his Japanese-inspired wild turkey karaage don, apple cider glazed pork chops, and fire-grilled tomahawk steaks and wagyu. He talks about the pressures of hunting public land, the art of sounding different than every other hunter in the woods, and why slowing down — especially in the woods with his four-year-old daughter — has become his greatest harvest. Plus: a big announcement about turkey camps with Tyler Farr, and a bonus segment with Corey's smoked ricotta quail egg ravioli recipe straight from Italy.1:46 – Show Open & Local News10:01 – Meet Chef Corey Freeman – Hunting Chef Chasing 49 States10:29 – Taher Food Service & Cooking from Scratch in Schools16:35 – Apple Cider Glazed Pork Chop Recipe19:59 – Turkey Camp with Tyler Farr – Karaage Don & Tomahawk Steaks27:26 – Turkey Hunting Tactics & The Chase for 49 States30:08 – Best Hunt of the Spring – Corey's Daughter & Two-State Day33:03 – Turkey Camps with Tyler Farr Announcement39:55 – Bonus Segment – Smoked Ricotta Quail Egg Ravioli RecipeMissouri Hunting Heritage Federation:https://www.mhhf.us/To follow American Roots Outdoors Podcast:https://www.facebook.com/groups/448812356525413To learn more about American Roots Outdoors:https://americanrootsoutdoors.com/https://www.facebook.com/AmericanRootsOutdoors/To follow Alex Rutledge:https://www.facebook.com/americanrootsalex/To follow Wayne Lach:https://www.facebook.com/wayne.lach.5To follow Mike Crase:https://www.facebook.com/mike.crase
Chad just got home from side stage at the Drifters Music Festival in Reno, and he had to get on the mic. Chase Rice headlined. Brittany was there. So was Les Nesbitt at 85, Chad's brother Clay, his nephew Chase, and his lab, Jack, who may be the most famous dog in country music. They walked to the stage with Chase, stood side stage for the whole set, and spent over an hour on the bus after. Chad's known Chase for six years. He met him through Jack Daniels in Turkey Camp in Oklahoma. Since then, it's been duck camps in Wisconsin, Kansas, Tennessee, backstage in Nashville, Vegas with Les and Dan Henderson at Steve Aoki the night before a sold-out Kane Brown show at T-Mobile Arena. That night, Chase called Les up from the stage, and 15,000 people sang him happy birthday. This episode is part concert recap, part friendship tribute. Chad runs through the set list, from Walk That Easy, to Bad Day, Key West to Colorado, Circa 1943, Cruise, a Toby Keith tribute with Should Have Been a Cowboy, and Lonely Eyes to close it out. He talks about Chase's evolution from bro country to something much more real: the songwriting, the road life, the hunting, the dogs. Chase Rice just gets it. And Chad loves him for it. This episode is presented by Jack Daniel's Tennessee Sour Mash Whiskey, and brought to you by Demerbox, LEER toppers, Almost Heaven Saunas, TKO Vitality, Napa Valley, Nashville Palace, Scoreboard Nashville, and ZLINE Appliances

Beau Martonik sits down with Jason Redd of Timber Ninja Outdoors, recorded off the tailgate on the last day of a turkey camp trip in West Virginia. They recap three days of hunting — birds that gobbled all day on day one, a tom that put on a show for 90 minutes and never committed, roosted birds that got crashed by trespassers on day two, and a quiet final morning that just didn't come together. Good conversation on when to stay on a bird vs. move on, and what makes mountain turkey hunting so hard to predict. Jason also breaks down how he's been running the MTN Runner vest this season — what's working, what he'd change, and how he's setting it up differently for turkey vs. deer. Plus a first look at the Ronin, Timber Ninja's new single panel saddle coming out this summer. Paul Butski Reveals Elite Turkey Hunting Tactics | 100% Wild Podcast Ep. 470 In this episode of the 100% WILD Podcast, Matt Drury and Tim Kjellesvik are joined by Paul Butski, a 3-time Grand National Champion and Turkey Hunting Hall of Famer. Paul, who is the mastermind behind many HS Strut products, dives into the development of the Elite Six series, which is a collaborative effort with Mark Drury, Fred Zinke, and Tad Brown designed to bring professional-grade realism to every hunter's vest. We discuss the technical nuances of diaphragm calls, from mastering air pressure to selecting the right cuts, like the DOD Ghost Tongue, to ensure you own the "moment of truth" in the timber. The conversation moves beyond calling into the "lost art" of woodsmanship, exploring how to use extra-dimensional sounds like wing beats and leaf scratching to paint a realistic picture for wary gobblers. Paul shares high-stakes tactics for midday birds, the proper orientation of Jake and Hen decoys, and the critical transition of teaching the next generation to hunt outside of a blind. Whether you are looking for tips to reset on a silent bird or want to hear legendary stories from the "Rat Pack" at Turkey Camp, this episode is a definitive guide to field success. 00:00:00 – Introduction to Ep 470 with Hall of Famer Paul Butski 00:02:46 – The evolution of competition calling from then to now 00:04:00 – Inside the HS Strut Elite Six series development 00:05:48 – Mastering air pressure and diaphragm call basics 00:10:56 – Moving beyond basic yelping to advanced turkey sounds 00:13:30 – Woodsmanship: Using scratching and wing beats in the timber 00:15:27 – Tactics for hunting farms without roosting birds 00:23:33 – Decoy Strategy: When to use a Jake vs. Hen setup 00:34:41 – The "Lost Art" of hunting outside of a ground blind 00:43:52 – Midday Play: How to approach silent afternoon gobblers 00:48:14 – Turkey Camp Traditions: From the Beacon to camp breakfast 00:54:35 – Game: Two Gobblers and a Jake with Paul Butski Join the Rack Pack Facebook Group :/ n73gskjt7bfb2ngc Get ahead of your Game with DeerCast available on iOS and Android devices App Store: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/deerc... In this episode of the Antler Up Podcast, I was joined at Turkey Camp in Pennsylvania by great friends Tim Sisock, Jim D'Agostino, and Josh Hobson for a laid-back and laughter-filled conversation straight from the woods. We kicked things off with stories from the campfire, reflecting on the thrill of chasing different turkey subspecies, the challenge of hunting in new states, and the incredible journey toward achieving a Grand Slam in turkey hunting. From the joy of harvesting wild birds to cooking up camp meals, we dove into how camaraderie, preparation, and shared experiences make turkey season unforgettable. We also took a hard turn into archery talk, sharing our excitement for the Total Archery Challenge, how much we enjoy shooting foam ("foam is home"), and how evolving archery technology keeps the sport fresh and fun. There are few places easier to share the things we are each facing in life than a fishing or hunting camp. Our personal guards are let down and we can easily talk about the good, the bad and the ugly in our lives. On today's show, we sit at a round table discussion about turkey hunting at our annual God's Great Outdoors Wisconsin Turkey Hunt.
