My name is Ryan Nuñez and I am an actor, singer, director & all around creative guy (or at least try to be). I created Broad-WHAT? to give a voice to performers and creative beings in the lower mainland of BC. Focusing mainly on musical theater, with a slash of other venues, we bring you their stori…
Hello Broad-WHAT? fans, and thank you for joining us here for another amazing episode! This time we are traveling away from the lower mainland and off to the Big Apple itself with the lovely and incredibly (and I do mean incredibly) talented Blake Allen. Blake is a totally new friend to me, and I was so incredibly excited to meet and speak to him. Blake is a composer and musician operating out of New York City, though he grew up in El Paso, Texas which he candidly refers to as “the Winnipeg of the south.” He's been in the big city for over a decade now, and might I say, he's killing it! Blake started music very early in childhood, learning piano from his mother and quickly realizing his passion extended beyond just a hobby, and was something that he could see himself pursuing. Since being in New York, Blake has done so much cool stuff - including working with the world famous Drag Queen Tina Burner. I don't want to say too much more, because this is an absolutely amazing interview, and you should be listening to it, not reading a recap from me! Check Blake out on his Instagram @blakeallenpresents or on his website www.blakeallen.org.
Hello Broad-WHAT? fam! Once again, I just want to say thank you all so much for your support and patience as we try to get ourselves back on a more consistent schedule. This week we are SO excited to bring you an interviee that has been a long time coming - Ben Pilger! Ben is an amazingly talented and hard working artist, a self described “maker, actor, mover,” and the curator of APTPOP - a small art gallery here in Vancouver! We have known each other for many years now, starting all the way back in theatre school at Capilano University. Since then, I have followed Ben's work and can only say that he is an incredible artist and someone that you should all do yourself a favour and check out. You can find him on Instagram @benpilger and his gallery @aptpop. I hope that you all enjoy this week's episode, and in case you haven't noticed, we also have a special guest artist who has graciously agreed to step in while @emilienunez is on a much deserved vacation. Many thanks to @emmamarymckart for the amazing cartoon this week. Check her out on Instagram or at her website here: https://emmamarymckart.artstation.com/ See you next week!
Hello friends! Today is a very special episode for you that I made as a little Pride Month special. I did a bunch of research about queer people in various forms of media, and learned a lot of really interesting and exciting things about how far we've come, and how far we still have to go. I hope you enjoy this, and happy Pride to all of you!
It's finally here! After much ado, I am incredibly happy to present the long awaited interview with the one and only Emilie Nunez (aka my sista and the artist for this very podcast). Emilie is an incredibly talented artist, having ran a VERY successful Etsy shop for the past several years. It was really fun to interview her, if a bit weird considering that I know everything about her already! That being said, she is so intelligent, kind, and loving in addition to her great talent. This one is unique, hilarious, insightful and very worth listening to in my humble opinion. Thanks for your patience as we work to get out content more regularly. For now, please enjoy this week's podcast with Emilie!

Hello once again friends! Welcome to the last episode of February 2022! I hope that you've enjoyed listening to these episodes half as much as I've enjoyed recording them. This episode is really special and unique for our little podcast as we're interviewing the lovely and amazing Trevor O'Rourke aka AutoHeartVan. Trevor is a local musician and high school teacher. Born in Winnipeg, Trevor grew up on Quadra Island, and came to Vancouver after graduating high school. He attended SFU upon arriving here, where he studied History and Latin Studies. Check out his music at: https://open.spotify.com/artist/2wwrL00A0joZiiQGhJWhVs Thank you for following us through to the end of this month. We're so incredibly excited to bring more to you in March.
Evie is originally from Perth, Western Australia. She has a professional background in running large electronic music events in Australia. She originally came to BC for Shambala, and felt the draw of the small town life. So after landing in Nelson she started working for the Kootenay Music Festival and the Tiny Lights Festival as well as doing the marketing for Arts Wells in Wells, BC. She wants to serve her community, and you can really feel that passion come through in our interview. Thank you all so much for keeping up with us so far this year, and stay tuned for more amazing and exciting content coming at you for the rest of the year!
Hello Broad-WHAT? fans and welcome to our first regular episode back in 2022! It's been a crazy beginning to the year already for everyone, so we're especially glad to be back and providing you with more content and interviews from our ever growing and fascinating local arts scene. This episode is featuring a new friend of mine, David Underhill. David is a theatre artist currently living in Vancouver after graduating from Studio 58 in 2019. Despite being a born Vancouverite, David spent his childhood in Victoria, where he caught the theatre bug so to speak. He has been involved in the art and theatre community since he was in grade school, and that passion is still burning strong today. You may have seen pictures of David floating around Instagram (@underhilarity) which are equally likely to be selfies, screen grabs from recent film and TV work, and pictures of him busking as a living statue. Needless to say, this is an amazingly interesting episode, so as always, I hope you all enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed recording it. See you next week for another episode!
And here we go with our final part of the 365 Questions for 2022 series featuring Ranae Miller. I hope that you have all enjoyed listening as much as we enjoyed recording. See you in February for a return to our regular weekly episodes.
Day 2 coming at you with 365 Questions for 2022 featuring the amazing, talented, and funny Ranae Miller. One more part to go. Enjoy!
Hello Broad-WHAT? fans, and welcome to January 2022! It's been yet another insane year for everyone, so we wanted to start off our new year of podcasting with one of our favourite traditions: 365 Questions! This year's special guest is Ranae Miller, a friend of the show, and someone who we hope will be heard from again very soon in her own special episode. Buckle up, because this is a three parter, so you'll be getting an episode a day starting TODAY! Thanks as always for everyone's constant support for our little show. Here's to another year of making art.
Hello once again Broad-WHAT? fans, and thank you as always for listening in to this week's episode. Apologies for being a day late on this one, but we promise that it's worth the wait! This week is featuring a brand new friend to me: Teo Saefkow. Teo is an actor and musician who is originally from the small town of Smithers in Northern BC. Music and drama was a huge part of his childhood, from his father who is a set designer for Theatre Northwest in Prince George, to his drama teacher who always brought up guests from the lower mainland to talk to their students. As we mentioned above, Teo is also a musician and goes by the pseudonym Scalawag on BandCamp. Find his music here: https://scalawag.bandcamp.com/track/intro. You can also find him on Instagram: @teosaefkow Special thanks as always to my kitty Skimble for his contributions to the episode. Hope that your weekend is a good one! Stay dry and warm and we'll see you all again soon.

Hello Broad-WHAT? fans and welcome to another episode of our little show. Can you believe that we're already more than halfway through November? Crazy! This week's episode is featuring an old friend of mine who is an absolutely amazing actor, artist, playwright, and so much more - Howard Dai. Howard is a Canadian-Taiwanese actor; born here in Canada and growing up in Taiwan until he was a preteen. His story of discovering the joy of theatre is the sort of thing that I want to listen to over and over again. It's inspiring and I would personally like to see a one man show about it - get on that for me Howard! He is also a recent graduate from SFU's acting program, and he is currently acting, writing, and interning at rice and beans theatre. Check him out on Instagram @howarddai or at his website: www.howarddai.com Thanks as always for listening to this episode! We'll see you all again next week for another amazing guest.
Hello Broad-WHAT? fans, and thank you for your patience as we once again deal with some technical difficulties. This week's episode is featuring the amazingly talented and kind hearted - Erin Michell! Erin is an educator, writer, director, dancer, choreographer, actor, performer, and just all around artistic septuple threat! You may remember her from our Music Education panel which was put out last month, and if you missed that one, then I'd highly recommend checking it out. Erin is originally from a small town called Saanichton on Vancouver Island, where she started dancing from the tender age of 4 years old, and is an alumni of the Canadian College of Performing Arts. Despite being nervous to start, Erin was an absolutely amazing guest and a new friend who I am very excited to get to learn more about as our relationship continues! Please leave us a review and a comment and a like. Every little bit helps to grow this little podcast to something bigger and better! See you next week for another episode!
SPOOOOOOOOKY! Happy Halloween everyone, and welcome to the third annual Broad-WHAT? Halloween special - this year featuring the amazing Maddy Suddaby and Ali Watson. It's been a crazy couple of years, and these last couple years were pretty scary as it is. This year we just decided that we were going to have a good time and drink a bit of wine and talk about our favourite Halloween-y things! We also played some fun and stupid games and just generally had a spooky ooky good time. Thanks as always for tuning in, and we'll see you again in November! Have a safe and excellent Halloween.
Hello Broad-WHAT? listeners and welcome to a very special episode of our show. This week we are sharing with you a very interesting and insightful panel episode featuring four working professionals in the field of musical theatre education. We discussed the challenges and tribulations that can be associated with teaching, as well as the success stories and lessons learned over the course of each guest's career so far. Special thanks this week to Peter Abando, Erika Babins, Erin Mitchell, and Theo Budd for being my guests. I hope that you all enjoy listening to them as much as I enjoyed interviewing them. Stay tuned next week for ANOTHER special episode. It's Halloween soon, so long time listeners can guess what that means for us here at Broad-WHAT?!
Hello again Broad-WHAT? fans, and welcome to another exciting episode of our little show on this very rainy Vancouver day. This week's episode is featuring a multi talented girl boss by the name of Jill Raymond! Jill has been featured twice before on our show. The first was back in season 1, episode 23 which aired WAY back in September of 2017, where we spoke about her career as well as her connection to devised theatre. The second time was in September 2019 in our Broad-WHAT? Reviews Blog post on Hysteria (Direct Theatre Collective) where Jill was not only a lead actor, but also the founder and artistic director of the company. Jill was actually my first in person interview since the pandemic, which was super exciting for me. She is a British-Canadian artist who was originally born in Newcastle upon Tyne in England, to a British mother and a Canadian father. She has been in Canada for almost 8 years now, and is a producer, actor, teacher, writer, social media marketer, and director. Thanks again as always for tuning into our little show. Stay dry. Stay happy. And just remember that you're all amazing. See you next week!
Hello again Broad-WHAT? fans and welcome to another episode of our lovely little show. This weeks guest is someone that I have known for a long time, but haven't had a chance to actually sit down and chat with at all! Bonnie is a Finland born artist who came to Canada with her two moms and her twin brother when she was very young. She has been in multiple shows and productions here in Vancouver, and has even spent some time in London, England! This was such a fascinating interview, because, as I said above, we knew of each other for years, and walked in the same circles but never had a chance to really get to know each other. Needless to say, I had a great time interviewing this amazing artist. Thanks as always for listening. Please share the episode and the podcast around, and if you have anyone who you'd like to see on the show then leave us a comment below.
Happy October everyone! Spooky season is just around the corner, and we're staring off this month with possibly the least spooky, most Disney-princess-esque lady - Shannon Hanbury. Shannon was one of my very first guests way back in 2017, and I couldn't be more excited to have her on again for an update and a catch up. Shannon is born and raised in Vancouver, and is not an equity theatre performer in town and around the world via Disney Cruise Lines. She also teacher Pure Barre and is even a published author! This is one of my favourite interviews this year, and I can't wait for you all to listen! Strap yourselves in for an hour of good times and laughter. See you next week for another episode! Review, like, and subscribe wherever you listen to your podcasts.
Hello friends! This week is the first special episode of our new monthly format. From now on, we will have three regular episodes per month, followed by one episode that will feature one or more guests discussing a unique topic. This week features a long time friend of the show, Madeleine Suddaby. This was the first time we had seen each other in almost a year, so of course we had to catch up before even starting the recording. Once we get down to it though, we begin to discuss content creation in its many forms. Fun fact: Madeleine is a makeup YouTuber as well as being a very talented musical theatre artist! Find her on Instagram: @madelaide and on YouTube: youtube.com/madelaide/. See you next week for a return to our usual format! Please like and subscribe, and give us a quick rate wherever you listen to your podcasts.
Hey everyone! Terribly sorry, but technical difficulties made this episode come out a day late, but I promise that it's worth the wait. On today's episode we spoke to Tiana Jung. We had her in an episode on season 1 and we're so excited to have her here again with us. It's impossible not to enjoy her friendly and inviting personality, and boy does she have some stories to tell. Tiana grew up in Port Moody, and has performed in theatre all around Vancouver over the years. She then went to NYU Tish in New York on Broadway to study drama and musical theatre. Unfortunately, she was another victim of graduating during the pandemic. She had to come home in March 2020, hoping that she would be able to return before graduation, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. She was just about to start tech for an all women show called Pregnancy Pact which unfortunately didn't get to go forward because of the pandemic. Tiana has been back in Vancouver since March 2020, and we're so incredibly excited to have her here with us. New York's loss is Vancouver's gain! Thanks again, as always for coming back to listen to our little show. Like and subscribe on your podcast platform of choice if you haven't already.
Hello again my friends and welcome to still another episode of Broad-WHAT?! This week is a particularly exciting one for me because I got to interview one of my oldest friends from back in the Maple Ridge days - Marissa Lyons aka MJ (@mj_onair). Marissa is a super talented actor, singer, and dancer though she has moved on in her career to become an even more amazing radio host with @thecaseyclarkshow on New Country 103.1 in Kamloops and New Country 100.7 in the Okanagan. She now lives full time in Kamloops and is living the radio dream. I won't lie, this was one of my all time favourite episodes to record. Marissa and I have a lot of history, and I think that comes through in this interview. Thanks as always for listening to this episode. Stay tuned next week for another episode of Broad-WHAT? dropping on September 17th at 11:00am.
Hello Broad-WHAT? fam! This week is a return back to our normal format, and who better to start things off with a bang than the amazing, multitalented, and exceptionally kind Anna Kuman! Anna called in for us to do an interview all the way from Dubai, UAE. We said this in the podcast, but if there's one thing that we can take as a positive from these last 18 months or so, it has made the world smaller. Zoom calls are so much more prevalent, and we are able to connect in a more real way regardless of where we are in the world! Anna started as a dancer, and over the years has morphed into a singer, actor, director, and choreographer extraordinaire! She has also now submitted her MFA master's thesis in movement direction and teaching from the Royals Central School of Speech and Drama in London, England. So everyone throw some congratulations her way if you can! I won't say much more here, because I don't want to spoil anything in the episode, but trust me, this one is definitely worth a listen! As always, subscribe on your favourite podcast platform and give us a like and a rating if you can. Every little bit helps get our little podcast out there.
Hello Broad-WHAT? fans and welcome to the third episode in our “Artists Graduating During COViD-19” series! This week we will be featuring just two guests, so it'll be a bit of a shorter one. First up we have the lovely Ray Koh followed by the amazing Nao Marine. Ray (he/him) is based in Coquitlam and is a recent graduate of the Studio 58 acting program in Vancouver. He has a really interesting origin story with theatre, because he had to convince his very traditional parents that theatre was the right thing for him. And wait until you hear the heart stopping story about his Studio 58 audition. I was holding my breath just listening to it! Find him on Instagram and Twitter: @_raykoh Finishing up the episode, we have another new friend, Nao Marine. She is Japanese, and has been in Canada now for six years. She has been studying musical theatre casually since she was eight years old, and at sixteen she made the self described “reckless” choice to go across the world to pursue theatre in English for the first time. After spending one year at a regular high school to help her English language skills, and one year at the Langley Fine Arts School, she auditioned for, got accepted to and graduated from Capilano University's musical theatre program. Find her on Instagram: @naomarine_ This is a really interesting episode featuring two folks with very unique backgrounds and stories, so I hope that you enjoy listening as much as I did recording! Thanks as always for your support, and stay tuned in a couple of weeks for a return to our regular episodes!
Hello Broad-WHAT? fans! Apologies for the delay on this week's episode, but we promise that it is most definitely worth the wait. SO! Here we are with part two of our “Artists Graduating During COViD-19” series. This time we're featuring Ally Rafter, Jadon Simone Trelour, and Molly Lydon. Our first guest this week is Ally - a Richmond brod and raised actor, and self identified theatre kid/horse girl. Ally became interested in acting in high school, and, after auditioning for UBC and Capilano University, decided to attend the Acting for Stage and Screen program at Cap. Find her on Instagram: @allyagram Guest number two is our most distant interview ever! Jadon spoke to us all the way from Brisbane, Australia where she is currently living after having graduated from the Randolph School of Performing Arts in Toronto. Originally from Toronto and raised in Brisbane, Jadon made the trek back to Canada to attend post secondary training and is intending on returning to Toronto soon! Find her on Instagram: @jstrelour or on TikTok: @jad.simone And last, but certainly not least, we have the lovely Molly Lydon. Molly is a Victoria native, who came to Vancouver in search of a more big city life. Currently she is living in North Vancouver, having just graduated from Capilano University's Musical Theatre program. Also, spoiler alert: Molly is making a BIG move really soon to London, England, where she will be studying for her master's degree at the Guildford School of Acting! Find her on Instagram: @mollylydon Thanks so much for checking out this week's episode. Stay tuned as always for more great content coming at you next week and beyond!
Hello Broad-WHAT? fans! We are so incredibly excited to present you with a new special series featuring recent graduates from acting programs around the country, and how they dealt with attending a performance arts school during the COViD-19 pandemic. Today is part one, featuring Emily Johnston, Jericho Cabinas, and Sarah Mercier. Originally from Montreal, Emily is a graduate from the Randolph College for the Performing Arts in Toronto, where she still lives and which she fondly refers to as “the New York of Canada.” Find her on Instagram @emjohnston25 or on Facebook by searching up her name: Emily Johnston. Jericho is an Edmonton born actor who came to the city to go to Vancouver Acting School where he has now completed almost two years of training over two separate programs. He is currently auditioning and submitting for theatre, film, and TV. Find him on Instargram: @jerotic_ Finally, we have the incredibly lovely Sarah. She's from a small town in northern Alberta called Bonnyville, where she studied piano, voice, and dance during her time at high school. She auditioned for a variety of schools across the country, but ultimately settled on Capilano University as recommended by her voice teacher. Find her on Facebook at Sarah Mercier or on Instagram at @sarahmercier_ Thanks so much for listening in today, and stay tuned for part two of this series coming at you next week. Howdy everyone! Thanks for tuning into another episode of Broad-WHAT? back in the beginning of 2020, I reached out to past season one guests to bring them back in the Season 2 light. I was delighted at the response, and this guest was the only one I could record with before Covid-19 hit. William Hopkins was one of the first guests ever on Broad-WHAT? I got the chance to catch up with Will and it was an absolute delight. We sat in his apartment and gabbed about theater and the amazing roles he's done. Will is a dream to work with. He's professional, he's lovely, he's incredibly insightful, and he's pretty easy on the eyes too. We talked about his artistic influences, his time at Studio58, and what he has been up to since we heard from him last. Check out his last appearance on the show which was Episode of Season 1 back in February 2017. Thank you for tuning in to this week's episode of @broadwhatpodcast and stay tuned for more each week! Aerhyn is extremely lovely to talk to; with his beautiful musical background he has a great view on the world and his art. A successful stage actor, he has quickly moved onto creating his own art through his Acapella Advent Calendar, and finding his place in the world of TikTok. His entrepreneurial spirit is super inspiring. I'll include all of his links below so you can check him out. Definitely content that is worth it and will put a smile on your face. Hi there, and welcome to another amazing episode of @broadwhatpodcast Today I got to talk to the multitalented and super cool Jordan Svenkeson. Jordan was an absolute delight to interview, and a complete sweetie. He has such a creative eye, and an amazing way at looking at things. Jordan and I knew each other already through their partner Fairlith (also a member of the Broad-WHAT? family), but this is the first time that we really got to sit down and have a one on one chat. They are an actor, burlesque performer, voice over artist, and fight choreographer and professional Dungeon Master. We talked about the world of D&D, how he balances both his stage combat and performance careers, and how D&D and performance are so intrinsically linked. Hello everyone! May brings us flowers, but also brings us a new batch of brilliant guests that are now a part of the Broad-WHAT? family! Today we get to introduce you all to the amazingly talented Jaycie Dotin! Jaycie was one of the better things to come out of 2020 for me. We connected, and I fell hard for this dynamo of a person. Jaycie is brilliantly fun to be around. She has an aura that just lights up every space that she’s in, and I was so glad to be able to become friends with such a powerhouse of a person. I soaked in her energy and I am counting down the days till I get to speak with her again! Jaycie is a recent BC transplant, and I am so glad she found herself here. With literally countless credits, including the North American tour of Jersey Boys, she is an absolute quadruple treat. You can look for more information about Jaycie on her instagram account @jayciedotin where you can see her on her journey. Jaycie can be seen on ABC’s Big Sky airing this month, guest starring on Babysitter’s Club on Netflix, and has a supporting lead in the next Aurora Teagarden Mystery Movie on Hallmark! Another day, another podcast episode! Welcome back to @broadwhatpodcast and here’s to another amazing guest. Peter Abando is an amazing human being. I always knew that Peter and I would be great friends. He’s such a kind individual, and has a huge heart. Not only is he one of the most incredible instrumentalists, but he has such a creative mind it’s insane. I saw him perform in the Vancouver Fringe Festival, and let me tell you, if you see the chance to watch him do his thing, you have to. He is absolutely insanely talented. He’s a great man, and I am so so so grateful to call him a friend. Thanks for stopping by, Peter! Hello Broad-WHAT? Family! I am very excited because I get to introduce a member of my chosen family to you. I had the incredible honor to interview one of my closest friends, my family, Sabrielle McCurdy-Foreman. Sabrielle is an insane talent. Not only does she have literally the most incredible voice I’ve ever heard, every medium she tackles she succeeds in. She’s an incredible actress, producer, choir member, and an even better friend. Sabrielle has the most tenacity out of everyone I’ve ever met. She is constantly inspiring me with her go-get-it attitude, and the fearless way she attacks everything. She is a shining beacon of light in my life. In this episode, we chatted about what it’s been like to work together on so many projects, what family means to hear, and how to tackle multiple mediums without getting exhausted. She truly is an amazing person, and I am so glad I am finally able to introduce her to the Broad-WHAT? Family. Sabrielle is a member of both @universalgospelchoir and @diasingers and I would love for you to check it out! He’s fuelled by his art and his passion and you can really hear it throughout this episode. We met as co-workers, and instantly became friends; he’s a great guy and an even greater talent. I look up to him a lot as an actor, director, and producer that is making waves on screens all over. I really do love his attack and drive, and I aspire to be more like him! Hello Broad-WHAT? family! Thank you for spending time with us while you listen to another great episode. I am thrilled this week to introduce you all to the amazing Andrew Cownden. Andrew is truly a star. Not only is he very, very talented at what he does, but he’s humble, kind & absolutely full of love. Andrew is a huge sweetheart. I remember when I saw him perform for the first time and was absolutely star struck! I got to sit down and chat with him about his artistic influences growing up, his time studying at at CCPA, and how he attacks each role he has played. Andrew is a huge inspiration to me and I was so glad to get to chat with him in more length! Check Andrew out at https://www.andrewcownden.com/ and at Twitter at @AndrewCownden. HI! Thank you for tuning in. You rock! Speaking of people who rock, I am very excited to introduce Shelby Wyminga. Shelby came highly recommended to be a guest on the show, and she was happy to oblige and sit down and chat with me! Shelby is so, so fun! Something about her just makes you feel so at ease, and that is a great quality to have. One of my favourite things about her is the fact that she’s so willing to play, and have fun. Anything she ends up getting her artistic eye on thrives. She welcomed me with open arms and was so gracious in sharing her story. We talked about growing up and her artistic influences, creating your own art, and how to survive the vancouver theatre scene. Check out her company Far From The Tree Productions https://www.farfromthetreeproductions.com @farfarthetreeproductions and her audio play ‘Little Women’ is available on Spotify and Apple podcasts. Hello everyone! Welcome to 2021. We hope you took a well deserved break over the holiday season and ready to take on whatever the new year has to offer. As for us, we were busy getting this year’s episodes ready for you to listen to! Starting this year with a bang, is the incomparable Allyson Fournier. Of course I’ve heard of the incredible talent that Allyson is, but it wasn’t till I was up north with her that I truly saw what an exceptional person she is. She is loving, hard working, and works so hard to be the best she can be. Which truly is all we can ask anyone for. She wears her heart on her sleeve, something I admire greatly of her. She is a director, writer, actress, and exudes such light while tackling anything she tries. I adore her. Allyson is currently studying directing at the National Theatre School @nts_directing_program, and is assisting Anita Rochon on a production of Everybody by Branden JAcobs-Jenkins. Follow her on instagram @ak4nier and on Tik Tok at @ak4yay Thank you for tuning in to this week’s episode of @broadwhatpodcast and stay tuned for more each week! Hello everyone! Thank you so much for tuning into this year of podcasts. We are here bringing you the last regular episode of 2020, and we had to end with an absolute bang - a great human, and an even better friend, Lucinda Sim. You may recognize her from her from season 1, episode 18 of @broadwhatpodcast where we mostly just talked about our mutual love of Patti Lupone. Before meeting at school, I was told we would be two peas in a pod, and that has proven to be true. Lucinda is so much more than a triple threat. Of course she's an extremely talented singer, dancer, & actor, but she’s also a choreographer, teacher, yoga teacher, partner, daughter, and friend. We get into it all this episode. This was filmed when we went up to work in Barkerville together which we were in the heat of when we recorded this episode. We got this amazing chance to connect and become closer as ever and I am so lucky! Listening back on this episode where we chat about her family life, taking leaps of faith and following your heart I realized how lucky I am to have such a lifelong friend! You can follow Lucinda on Instagram and Twitter at @lucindavsim
Hello everyone! Thank you for tuning in to another brilliant episode of @broadwhatpodcast. Today’s guest was an absolute dream because I got to chat with one of my favourite people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing, Arielle Ballance. Arielle is an accomplished music director, accompanist, and just straight up a boss. I fell instantly in love with Arielle when she music directed me in Merrily We Roll Along a few years ago. She’s so insanely talented, hard working, and so sincere to everyone around her. She truly lightens up a room, and I was overjoyed she said yes to being on the show. I learned so much about her, I found myself sitting on the edge of my seat while she spoke about her love of music, how she found herself making Vancouver her home, and her next steps as an artist. Go send her some love, and HIRE HER. You will note regret it. Check her out on instagram at @arielleballance and her website at https://www.arielleballance.com/
Hello everyone, and thank you for tuning in to another incredible episode of Broad-WHAT? featuring an even more incredible guest. I am of course talking about Daniel Bristol. @daniel.j.bristol is a recent graduate of Studio 58, and since graduating has performed all over British Columbia. I saw him perform when he was still at school and was blown away by his natural charisma and talent on stage. He has a raw way at tackling content that really blew me away; and I knew I had to have him on the show. Daniel is kind, strong willed, and so very creative. We talked about when he caught the creative bug, how he approaches text, and what his time at @studio58theatre meant to him. He truly is such a sweet person to be around, I was so glad to be introduced to him through this conversation. Daniel has worked all over BC including Miracle Theatre, ITSAZOO and placed 2nd place overall in the global finals of the World Monologue Games. He’s incredibly talented, and we’re so proud of him. See him next in ITSAZOO/Aphotic Theatre’s production of The Café scheduled to run in 2021.
Hello everyone and welcome to November! This year has been going by crazy fast but also feels like the slowest year ever? Truly the highlight was getting to talk to so many incredible guests, and this week is no different. I was contacted by the world's loveliest person, Bailey. @bailey_madill is a huge theatre fan and wanted to give the broad-what audience insight to a professional ballerina life. Originally from Kamloops, she’s been studying dance all her life and she’s an incredibly talented performer. I’ve had the great pleasure in getting to take one of her ballet classes and she is as brilliant as she is kind. We had so much fun getting to know each other, and I am so glad we got to record this episode. Bailey is truly the kindest person I've ever met. She is so supportive and I am so glad she is in my life. You can follow her on instagram at @bailey_madill and check her out for more information!

Hello everyone, and thank you for tuning in to 100 episodes of our new format for Broad-WHAT podcast and season two. What a crazy amazing ride this has been! To celebrate this amazing occasion I of course had to bring out one of the most incredible interviews I’ve done to date and that guest is the absolutely amazing Eva Tavares. Of course I’ve known about Eva for some time, and have had the pleasure of seeing her perform. She is an absolute star. With credits like West Side Story at the Citadel, and playing the role of Christine in the North American Tour of Phantom of the Opera, you can’t not be in awe of her talent. The amazing thing about Eva is that she’s not only talented, she’s humble, smart, intuitive, and so very kind. I’m so glad to have gotten to sit down and get to know her. This interview is even longer than normal because I was on the edge of my seat getting to learn all about her. I’ve had the great pleasure of being led by her in one of her “Behind the Mask '' masterclasses and her experience shines through when emparting her knowledge to fellow performers. Thank you Eva for sharing your story with the Broad-WHAT? audience. Please check her out on her website https://www.evatavares.com/ and on instagram at @eva.l.tavares
Hi everyone! Thank you so much for tuning in to this extremely special episode! I am so thrilled to get to release this little blurb because it means that we have reached one hundred episodes since our season two format change. Since 2018, we’ve altered our focus to concentrate on what makes an artist tick; we go deep into each guests heart and mind and talk about love, sex, art, relationships and how that affects the art they create. It’s been such an incredible joy to get to talk to over one hundred guests, countless creative teams, and to have heard so many incredible stories from people of all different walks of life. It is an honor to get to continue this work and shine a light on creative folks from throughout the lower mainland and beyond. It has also been an amazing journey getting to grow this podcast with my family @theobudd and @emilienunez. To all the listeners, I see you, I love you, and I am so grateful. You can support @emilienunez by checking out her website at www.emilienunez.com and her etsy store at https://www.etsy.com/shop/emilienunezart/ Please consider going over to Apple Podcasts, Spotify and anywhere you listen to this show and give us a five star rating - every little bit helps us get these stories to a wider audience.
Thank you everyone for tuning into this new series featuring some of Toronto’s best talents. It’s been such a joy getting to learn from their experiences in such an incredible city. On today’s episode, I had the best conversation with the wonderful Sayer Roberts. Sayer, originally from New Westminster has been an incredible talent making waves all over Canada, including starring in the world renowned Stratford Festival! Sayer was so kind as to let me come over to his lovely apartment where we got to meet for the very first time. Sayer is smart, witty, and incredibly insightful regarding where he wants to be in life. I was incredibly proud of this interview. We chatted about his passion outside of theatre, what he misses about Vancouver, and how imposter syndrome is real no matter what stage you are in during your career.
We are beyond thrilled that you all are loving our Toronto series. This was such a joy to put together and I am so glad you are enjoying it. Today’s episode is no different, and I got to interview the brilliant and humble Kate Blackburn. Kate and I are both alumni from @capu_theatre and ever since then she’s been a staple in the Canadian theatre industry. Starring in roles all over Canada, her talent knows literally no bounds. Not only is she so talented, but she is sweet, down to earth, humble. You can’t do anything but want to be her friend. We chatted over wine and discussed her time in Toronto, missing home, and what her family means to hear. She is simply just the best. You can follow Kate on instagram at @kate_m_blackburn and at her website at www.blackburnkate.com As always, please like and subscribe to our show, and check out Broad-WHAT?
