We spent a lot of time getting to know Tanner and were able to find out a lot of great things about his life. We have mutual friends in the band ShoCore and we thank Corey White and the band for helping us make this podcast episode happen! A lot of people and especially Canadian Mixed Martial Arts fans have been seeing a huge progression in Tanner with his strength and conditioning and his career. He has now become more well known off two big Knockouts in a one month span in the UFC Heavyweight Division. He has some of the best footwork in the division and has lethal leg kicks. His candor and no nonsense way about him has endeared him and helped contribute to his increasing popularity. He has a mullet, long beard and is missing one of his front teeth and that seems to appeal to many fight fans. We found him gracious and forthcoming as he talked about his life, career and even tough topics. We hope that you enjoy his conversation with us and you become fans of his as much as we have. There are a lot of stereotypes when it comes to Canadian's and Albertan's and he checks many of the good boxes when it comes to where he is from. He has led a typical life in some regards but luckily has had some great people in his life to help him achieve his goals and dreams. He started working at his Mother's gym and was able to start learning Jiujitsu and Karate at a very young age. He decided to leave his small home town of Bonnyville at 21 years of age to get more MMA training and opportunities. He has now travelled the world to countries like Russia, Kazakstan, South Korea, Australia, England, Abu Dhabi and Dubai and of course the US and Canada to fight and pursue his MMA career. His adventures and jouney have shaped his life and career and we are glad that he has emerged as a great contender and he is a big success story from Canada. We wish Tanner all the best in the future and really appreciate his valuable time. Thanks for tuning in as always! Kerry Wood is a VAD to Heart Transplant Patient. He is from Bonnyville, Alberta. He describes his heart care journey as climbing three mountains. First he survived living with heart failure for six years with medication. His initial heart failure was caused by a virus (otherwise known as viral cardiomyopathy). Second, when his heart health deteriorated he survived end stage heart failure and received a left ventricular assist device (L-VAD), a mechanical heart to help pump his blood, like mobile life-support. He has his L-VAD for 22 months and then received a call to receive his new heart. The third – his heart transplant. After a year of recovery he is back to leading his normal life and is doing fantastic. Supporting the Maz is important to him because 1 in 4 people will have problems with their hearts. So if it doesn't happen to you, it will happen to someone you know and love. Everyone at the Maz restored my life and has given me a future. They provided me with the greatest gift – life. This week, I'm joined by Alberta's own rhinestone cowboy, Robert Adam! Rob & I have only been friends for about a year, but we've certainly helped each other get through some sh*t. Join us as we discuss queer country music, Jesus, BodyBreak and Alberta's mom, Country Queen Arlene! "Originally from the northern Alberta prairie town of Bonnyville, Robert combines a rural spirit of classic country with lyrics that offer more than surface meaning. Robert is sure to make his audience nostalgic for a place they may never have known, and warm hearts with his small town charm. In 2016 Robert recorded his debut EP "Prairie Gold" in Toronto Ontario, which beckoned of his small town sentimentalism and longing to return to his roots. "Rocky Mountain Lot" featured on his EP, made it to the top 10 in the country category in the Canadian Songwriting Competition in 2017. In the same year Robert moved back into the west and settled in Calgary, Alberta where he has quickly earned a reputation as a electric entertainer and carefully crafted artist alike. You can expect sweet and salty vocals, curated lyrics, dreamy musical textures and of course a sprinkle of rhinestones. With a clear respect for the older tradition of country music, seamlessly integrated with modern and progressive themes Rob is sure to attract attention from seasoned country music listeners and those not normally well acquainted with the genre alike." A veteran in the country music industry with a career spanning over 15 years, Clayton Bellamy is a true renaissance man; award winning musician, family man and even Motorcross racing star, once ranking 4th in Canada. Originally from rural Bonnyville, Alberta, he is surely no stranger to the world of country music with a career filled with accolades and achievements including multiple awards (such as a Juno for Best Country Recording, a four time Canadian Country Music Award winner, and SOCAN Songwriter of the Year). Bellamy has dominated the stage performing at the Grand Old Opry and even for President Carter, and is best known for his rock n' country style, reflected in both his music and fashion sense (with a little inspiration from Marlon Brando's Wild Ones). He is an artist who believes actions speak louder than words, a statement which holds true throughout his successful career as both a solo artist and notably, a member of the award-winning band The Road Hammers.

Gruff Gushnowski has been living life openly and honestly for the last three and a half years. If you following him on social media, he can be uncomfortably candid about his postings, and he revealed in this week's show about how helpful it has been. We explored his radio career which has been set in Alberta for 25 years outside of a brief stint programming CHEZ 106 in Ottawa. There are other heritage rockers in their too like K97 in Edmonton and The Goat in Lloydminster, Alberta. (Given all the awards, accolades and talent that has passed through that station, I think we can give it iconic status) He worked his way up from announcer, to music director and the program director's chair. As the pressure mounted and the responsibility accumulated, so did his drinking. Until one day -- he stopped. Last November he started back at Newcap in his current position as Program Director for the Northern Alberta stations; overseeing radio stations in Lloydminster, Wainwright, Cold Lake, Bonnyville, St. Paul, Lac La Biche, Athabasca, Slave Lake, High Prairie, Whitecourt, Westlock, Edson & Hinton. Best of all for him, he has moved back to Lloydminster where he lay down some heavy roots in early part of the millenium. In this episode, Gruff holds nothing back. He and I even take a few moments to share tactics for alleviating depression. I am not a clinical psychologist, but I briefly play one on this podcast. If you do need help and are looking to make a life change, this is a great place to start.
