There's a number of factors. And the first thing is how do we absorb the ferritin.   Dr. Romi Fung, ND 12:38 Well, that's digestion again, right there. When you do have your digestion that's impeded. This is what we call gut permeability, or leaky gut.   Manon Bolliger  18:22 I was thinking digestion is so key too, you know, inflammation to oxygenation. Now, elimination, what pathways need to be functioning really well for that?   ABOUT: Dr. Romi Fung is a naturopathic physician practicing in Richmond, BC, Canada with a special focus in dementia and cognitive health. Dr. Romi works with patients living with cognitive decline and dementia by augmenting their brain's environment. Have you ever met someone and the hairs on the back of your neck stood up? Have you ever "felt" like something would happen, and then it did? I was on a business trip a few years ago, and as I got into my rental car at night in a big city, I felt a voice say, "Lock the door now!" For a split second, I tried to "reason" with the voice so I could put my handbag down and put on my seatbelt. Well, I quickly locked the door at about the same time some very scary-looking guy was trying to get into my car! My big takeaway- listen to that still, small voice inside; it will never steer you wrong. In today's episode with Dr. Sarah Trask, we discuss that still-small voice regarding our health. Is there a reason people get sick that has almost NOTHING to do with how they eat and how much they exercise? You will be surprised by some of her answers and the simple tips to lower your risk of getting any illness. I learned a lot from Sarah today and became emotional several times during our conversation.   About Dr. Sarah Trask Sarah is an honours graduate of the Canadian College of Homeopathic Medicine, the only Canadian institution accredited by the Council for Homeopathic Certification and fully recognised by the Accreditation Commission for Homeopathic Education in North America. She is a registered member of NUPATH and an associate member of the CSOH. In addition to her formal education, Sarah completed a 3-year Post Graduate Program in Classical Homeopathy, including an extensive internship with the world-renowned Homeopath Dr. Joseph Kellerstein. One thing I never considered during my experience with cancer was the body's ability to heal  itself.  Although I was a holistic nutritionist, my focus was primarily on food. When it came to healing, it was best left to medical professionals. After all, how could the body heal without drugs or medical intervention? Honestly, if someone had told me to focus on healing my body by getting more sleep, eating organic foods, spending time in nature, managing my stress, and maintaining a spiritual practice, I would have thought, "Sure, that might help me feel better," but would it contribute to my healing? Today's guest, Dr. Sarah Trask, taught me about homeopathy.  She shared with me that when she was in homeopathy school, she contracted food poisoning during class; she was nauseous and was about to leave the class. The teacher used her food poisoning as a "teachable moment" for the students. Her teacher gave her a homeopathic treatment, and within minutes, she was better. She was sold on the power of homeopathy. Sarah's podcast today features some astounding stories of healing. I had so many takeaways, and I hope you do, too! "Joe", an inventor from down under, and innovator of the Joe Cell was/is a very special individual who was divinely inspired to build devices (cells) to experiment with water. Most noted was his "cell" integrated with the Internal Combustion Engine in which he introduced a new energy concept to generate power. Joe admonished that his inventions could not be understood within the context of conventional Atomic theory, and also required a knowledge of water as a conduit for informational fields.  This, of course, challenged the sacred cows of "science", but also revealed God's elegant design that can be applied for the production of renewable energy, water purification systems, and even the healing of human biology. "We just haven't figured out how God works!"  ~ Joe  Moshe Daniel Block joins this Alfacast for an in-depth exploration of the science behind the Joe Cell, and to introduce our audience to his own technology as a further evolution of the original Joe Cell.  Dr. Moshe Daniel Block, ND, VDP, HMC, VNMI, is a naturopathic doctor, author, and innovator in mind-body medicine who graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2000. He created andteaches the Vis Dialogue, a transformative mind-body healing technique that has helped thousands achieve life-changing results, and offers a full certification program in Holistic Counseling (holistic-counseling.ca). Having overcome myasthenia gravis with the medicine he practices, Dr. Moshe also provides personal healing programs for chronic illness and emotional suffering (dr-moshe.com). Our discussion on Joe Cell science will necessarily take us down a few esoteric rabbit holes including Russellian science, Steiner anthroposophical concepts with a bit of Alchemical perspective to round out the mix.  These seemingly diverse topics will figure prominently into the reality of "free energy" and the cessation of archaic one-way explosion technologies. In this episode we explore: Puberty, sports, and irregular periods How important nutrition plays in supporting hormones and female health? Is cycle syncing our workouts really important for hormone health? Amenorrhoea, Fertility, and Perminopause - what we may need to consider when creating an impactful workout routine? Our bleed days - do we work out or do we rest? Dr. Briana Botsford is a naturopathic doctor, Ironman triathlete, and owner of Flow Functional Health Care in Edmonton, Alberta. For the transcript and full story go to: https://www.drmanonbolliger.com/dr-romi-fung-nd2     Highlights from today's episode include: Dr. Romi Fung, ND I'm trying to tell everyone else because right now, the evidence, at least in the written literature, it says that about a third of all dementias is preventable. But I believe that that is underestimated. I believe at least 60% If not 90% of dementia can potentially be prevented through a lot of our nutritional means dietary as well as lifestyle.  Dr. Romi Fung, ND And there's one gene now that's isolated called bace-one, B A C E -1, and by eliciting it, that we actually start making and producing more of the beta amyloid plaque. And there are many things, I'm going to give you one example right now that induces this plaque, the number one I find is something called hypoxia, or lack of oxygen. Dr. Romi Fung, ND And iron is what we need to make hemoglobin in our blood. If we don't have enough hemoglobin in our blood, our ability to carry oxygen throughout the body and thus throughout the brain is impacted.   ABOUT DR. ROMI FUNG, ND: Dr. Romi Fung is a naturopathic physician practicing in Richmond, BC, Canada with a special focus in dementia and cognitive health. Dr. Romi works with patients living with cognitive decline and dementia by augmenting their brain's environment. He believes there is more to dementia than just working primarily with the brain; several metabolic and biochemical factors affecting our brain emerge from the body. Dr. Romi takes a comprehensive approach in working with his patients, from screening for inflammation, insulin resistance, and imbalanced hormones – all of which contribute significantly to our brain health, to interventions, including lifestyle coaching and clinical nutrition. Dr. Romi completed his undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from Simon Fraser University followed by graduating from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine with a Doctor in Naturopathy. While building his practice, Dr. Romi went on to complete a Master of Science in Aging and Health from Queen's University and is now pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Aging and Health, also from Queen's University. "...it's so difficult for many who have been given that diagnosis, whether it's accurate or not, just because there hasn't been many solutions other than the message that they need to be on medications."   In this enlightening conversation with Dr. Christina Bjorndal, we explore the intricate connections between mental wellness diagnosis, traumatic experiences, and the journey to healing. Dr. Christina also wrote the book Beyond The Label: 10 Steps to Improve Your Mental Health With Naturopathic Medicine. In this episode, we delve into the challenges and stigmas of mental health labels and discuss how early life experiences, the ego, and shadow beliefs can contribute to stored trauma that require a holistic approach to overcome. We will answer two questions: Is a bipolar label related to early childhood trauma, and if so, is there a different solution to a bipolar label than psychiatric medication?    Key Takeaways: The challenges of maintaining mental wellness amidst societal changes and isolation [03:42] Dr. Christina shares her motivation for writing her book and her personal struggle with various mental health diagnoses [04:17] Patients labeled as non-compliant due to their response to medication [07:00] The impact of early life experiences, including in utero, on mental health and wellness [08:47] The interconnectedness of neurotransmitters, hormones, and detoxification systems in mental health [13:40] The importance of allowing oneself to feel and process emotions as a crucial step towards healing and mental wellness [18:33] Layers of healing [23:09] 10 steps to maintain healing in your physical and mental health [29:02]      GUIDE “How do you know if you have trauma? Today, I am blessed to have here with me Dr. Lori Bouchard. She completed her degree in Health Science at Western University and a Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine (the four-year full-time program) at the prestigious Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto.  Dr. Bouchard founded Inside Health, Ontario's most innovative naturopathic healing center, to help people reverse complicated and often misunderstood conditions such as Lyme, chronic fatigue, Hashimoto's, and infertility. More than a decade later, Inside Health offers a comprehensive range of naturopathic support, welcoming all those who wish to live in optimal health. With a special focus on cancer health, Dr. Bouchard is on a mission to help patients understand the real root of cancer and how gut health, genetics, and environmental factors impact tumor growth.  In this episode, Dr. Bouchard explains why it's a good sign when you get sick once or twice a year. Being sick is one of the ways our body can get rid of the garbage in our cells. Then, Dr. Bouchard dives into all things cancer, including how to support the body, the importance of attitude, and how the cells communicate during this time. Plus, Dr. Bouchard discusses all the different ways you can help the mitochondria. Tune in as we chat about eating the best types of foods with a cancer diagnosis, the connection between stress and disease, and managing sleep. If you never get sick, then your immune system never has a chance to purge toxicity.  Getting rid of garbage is a crucial thing for our bodies. You should be sick once or twice a year. However, you shouldn't be sick for lengthy periods.  [10:50] The Impact Your Feelings and Attitude Can Have With A Cancer Diagnosis You need to support the body when you have cancer.  Anger is going to make cancer way worse.  When you get a cancer diagnosis, it's a reason to look at your health and healing differently.  One in every two people in their lifetime will get cancer. 100% of men over the age of 80 have prostate cancer. Also, many people die with thyroid cancer but not from thyroid cancer.  Remember, cancer doesn't necessarily have to take your life; it's part of how your cells are aging.  [15:45] Did You Know That Cancer Is A Survival Mechanism?  Cancer is a survival mechanism.  Every single one of our cells has a slew of mitochondria. Each of the mitochondria produces energy. Stress, toxicity, inflammation, and glyphosates are damaging our mitochondria.  Cancer is your body trying to keep your cells alive.  [23:35] How To Support Your Mitochondrial Health  A 13-hour fast will support your mitochondria.  Eliminating toxicity will also help your mitochondria.  Get rid of foods with glyphosates, herbicides, and pesticides. Don't brush your teeth with damaging chemicals. Also, make sure you are going to the bathroom every day. If you are regularly eliminating, then you are not putting stress on the liver. Drinking lots of water will help keep your cells healthy.  [34:30] The Hospitals Are Feeding Cancer Patients The Wrong Types of Foods  Most doctors do not want to engage in a conversation about nutrition and cancer. We need to have a critical talk about fueling the body properly.  When you're in the hospital, they give you foods full of sugar, feeding cancer.  You'll do better with your cancer treatments if your body is in ketosis.  [39:40] Is Prostate Cancer Associated With Sedentary Behavior?  If you're given a prostate cancer diagnosis, they'll put you on androgen blockers to suppress your testosterone. However, Dr. Bouchard thinks people should be moving more. As we age, it's common for most people to sit at their computer all day long and not move. Testosterone declines when you aren't moving.  Dr. Bouchard likes to get men working on a hula hoop. In general, most people do not move around enough.  [42:30] The Connection Between Chronic Stress and Cancer  Fear, anxiety, sleepless nights, and high cortisol can worsen cancer. If lifestyle and food were the same, stress would make cancer worse. When your stress levels are high, your sleep and how you repair at night won't be the same. Living in the sympathetic nervous state is going to trigger cancer cells more. AND MUCH MORE!
