If you resonate with the struggles of procrastination, perfectionism, imposter syndrome or burnout then this conversation will be extremely beneficial. Caggie is joined by Aime McNee, a creative coach and fiction author. In this episode they explore the beauty and vulnerability of ‘the creative'; the loneliness of committing to creativity, the shame and comparison creatives often face when straying away from the conventional 9-5 career and the liberation of choosing ourselves and our own path. Aime and Caggie discuss the many ways we often grapple with the dialogue of our inner critic and unpack the topic of ego, how individuals will often unknowingly cultivate a fear of success which is just as persuasive as our fear of failure. Even if you are not creative in your career, many of us have that inner critic which makes us doubt ourselves and stops us from going after our aspirations and goals. Aime shares her own experience with this and the tools she utilises to unlock the power to silence that voice in our head that says we are not worthy. In this episode Tommy McNee, General Manager of Guardian Moving & Storage returns for a full episode and discusses how he began in the industry nearly 20 years ago, but prior to that and when just out of nappies (Tommy's words not mine) he began travelling with his Dad who had started a delivery company and consequently branched out into removals. Tommy was due to go to Sterling University, to become an accountant or an actuary, however, from the age of 15 he was working the summer holidays for his Dad, earning £161.40 for a 45 hour week, a wage he soon got used to, and therefore ended up telling his Dad that he no longer wanted to go to university but wanted to work instead. Guardian Moving & Storage are based between West Lothian and Edinburgh, and they provide mainly domestic and commercial relocation services, facilitate overseas relocation, provide containerised and self-storage as well as archive storage services. Tommy has faced new challenges since becoming part owner of Guardian Moving & Storage as he's since become HR, agony aunt, operator, salesman, etc., where so many more people have become reliant on him. However, his biggest challenge was experienced at a very young age, where he lost his father to a heart attack during a commercial move, and thus having to facilitate with the paperwork that followed, as well as taking over his father's company. Tommy would not change anything from his moving past and explains why, even with an old analogy. Tommy's most recent highpoint is becoming part owner of Guardian Moving & Storage, another is becoming part of the council of the BAR Young Movers Group. Tommy goes on to inform us of the BAR Young Movers Group annual conference, which takes place in Cambridge as this episode airs, and we discuss how to become a member and the costs involved. The one thing Tommy would like to change within the industry is to have a course on how to build/run a business, as described in episode 17 (https://www.movingmatterspodcast.co.uk/17) by Danny Pollard. Tommy also states that unlike many previous podcast guests he is against regulation, and I challenge him as to why, in which he builds an extremely good argument. The advice Tommy would give himself just starting out in the industry again is to ask questions and seek answers quicker. In the next 5 years Tommy doesn't think the industry will change that much, although we are being quickly pushed into a more sustainable way of doing things. Personally, Tommy sees more of the same, growing, learning, and asking questions. I ask Tommy if he sees any changes in the selling side of the industry to which again, he has very strong views on. Outside of the industry Tommy enjoys family time with his wife and 3 children, and he also runs his own fitness, nutrition, health, and wellbeing company. And as always we end Moving Matters with a funny moving story, regarding porters getting a fright. Enjoy! What if we moved more intuitively in business? The way we live and work is changing. To address the environmental and social crises we face, we must move away from the capitalist economic system. This will have dramatic ramifications for how we do business, how we work and how we spend our time - I believe, in a very positive way! This is the focus of the conversation today with Aime McNee: author, creative coach, book doula and host of the Unpublished Podcast. In this discussion, we cover: Aime's traditional career background and experience of moving into a place of creative self-employment;Hitting: rock bottom - it's not always the worst thing; How to manage your time in self-employment; Aime's approach to managing finances in an "unpredictable" career; How to deal with "gatekeepers"; Should you do "the thing" if other people are out there already doing "the thing" and doing it "better"?; How to price your offerings; Should you build community before you develop a product or offering?; Tools to navigate internal blocks - e.g. fear of failure / unworthiness / fear of judgement; I ask Aime how she knows when her creative projects are "aligned" with her soul's purpose; How to stimulate creativity and identify areas of enjoyment; Where do creative ideas come from? A bit of advice for creatives embarking on their own self-driven careers. In this episode Steve talks to fitness expert Joe McNee about how he helps other people with client based small businesses like personal trainers, coaches and driving schools to automate their on boarding and client progress processes. He is a schoolteacher and fitness coach and has three children, and this left him without enough hours in the day so he has utilised systems, apps and software to reclaim precious time back from laborious manual procedures and processes. His methods were so successful that he now shares them with others through his business Fitlogic Systems. KEY TAKEAWAYS Joe can aid any business with regular repeated tasks. Anything that requires information transfer can be automated. Fitlogic Systems trace and standardise the client journey from the very beginning to identify what happens on initial contact, centralising client data, tracking sign up progress or client follow up. This centralised data is then used to trigger automations during this and future processes. Joe gets his clients to identify repetitive tasks which, when looked at as a group task, become clear that they are taking up too much time and detracting from the business owners original function and purpose for starting the business in the first place. Apps like Mailchimp can be used to automate email tasks. Stripe can be used to automate payment processing. After the on boarding process, the service delivery can be automated to keep track of the clients progress via automated emails that can provide you with feedback from the client. Systemizing can also mean outsourcing tasks to allow you to concentrate on your most valued function in the business. BEST MOMENTS ‘I just started talking to my network of people online and more and more people were asking me to do it for them and then this grew into a viable legitimate business where I automate the marketing, onboarding and delivery of coaching programs for personal trainers.’ – Joe ‘The stuff you teach, the stuff you help people do is not just applicable to gyms and coaches is it? It’s applicable to any type of business.’ – Steve ‘I would ask probing questions. So, what happens when they message you? What do you do? Do you book a call with them? How do you do that?’ – Joe ‘The next thing is getting them over the mindset of “personal training needs to be personal”. They may personally send an email, but it’s not a personal email because it’s just copy and pasted off their notes, but because they’ve personally sent it it ‘feels’ personal. Get them onto that mindset of people signing up for personal coaching, not personal information passing.’ – Joe ‘Then it comes into what I call service delivery. The emails that they’re going to get throughout the time they’re working with you. The biggest one is a recurrent email once a week or once a month for them to feedback to you so that you can continually evaluate their progress.’ - Joe GUEST RESOURCES ► Instagram - @joe_fitlogic_systems ► Personal Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/joe.mcnee.75 ► FB page - https://www.facebook.com/Fitlogicsystems/ ► Fitlogic Systems - https://fitlogicsystems.kartra.com/page/automateyouronboarding1 VALUABLE RESOURCES Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/SystemsAndOutsourcing/ Website: https://systemsandoutsourcing.com/welcome-1 YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/drsteveday The RIGHT Assistants For Your Business by Dr Steve Day http://bit.ly/sys-10 ABOUT THE HOST Steve used to be a slave to his business but when he moved to Sweden in 2015, he was forced to change the way he worked. StartUp Creative - Your go-to source for straight-up business advice
In today's episode, I catch up with a fellow creative, author, and good friend of mine Amie McNee @inspiredtowrite for a raw and honest conversation about the comparison. We discuss where and how it shows up in our own lives and businesses and share some tips for overcoming it when it rears its ugly head. Comparison can lead to self-doubt, inaction, and shying away from going after our dreams and goals and can often cause people to quit before they've even started. When we are able to catch it in the moment, silence the inner critic and find healthy ways to combat it before it takes charge we are more likely to keep moving in the direction of our dreams and goals and find ways to collaborate instead of compare.
The titles of Amie McNee's FOUR books will tell you all you need to know about why she's today's guest on the podcast: We Need Your Art Collection, For the Burnt Out Artist, For the Perfectionist, For the Procrastinator. (Reads kinda like a blessing for the audience of Brian Breaks Character, amiright?)Amie joined me all the way from Sydney, Australia and just like her 89.5K followers on Instagram I instantly fell in love with her incredibly honest & authentic rallying cries for creative people. Amie is an author, speaker, creative coach and a book doula. She teaches a time-tested journaling technique that is designed to help you unlock your creative juju (at the time of our recording she'd been journaling every morning for the last 1,379 days). She gives us the inside track on WHY we procrastinate on creative endeavors and HOW to overcome it. And best of all, Amie is a fiery ball of enthusiasm & energy – my face still hurts from laughing and smiling for our entire conversation. She couldn't embody more of what this podcast is all about. P.S. If you journal, or ever tried to journal, or have zero desire to journal but would loooooove all the clarity and confidence that you've heard comes from it, you gotta hear Amie's take on how to do it well so it actually serves you and serves your creativity. Episode #37 is a really neat journey through one gentleman's successes and how things aren't always as they appear. Kevin McNee had all the appearances of a successful career and home life, but he wasn't fulfilled. He takes responsibility for his actions and how he was responsible for his unhappiness, but he also took the steps necessary to start to heal. He reached out to us to talk about his story and it is a unpredictable journey to where he is today. In today's episode of Moments of Clarity, I speak with Reg McNee. Reg is a global marine senior executive with over 50 years of management and practical experience across all facets of the maritime industry. His career began in 1964 as a Marine Engineer and achieved his teenage dream in 1975 becoming chief engineer where he worked on vessels ranging from bulk carriers to oil tankers. He transitioned into an onshore management role in 1983 and his focus since 1988 has been on supporting worldwide Oil and Gas producers in all aspects related to their marine operations. He has specialist expertise in the design, construction and Commissioning of Offshore Support Vessels, restructuring loss making business ventures and expanding into new territories and as a key liaison between onshore management and Maritime Unions. Reg was a very special guest. It is not often you get a first hand account of such an incredible life story. The experiences that Reg has had in his life would fill at least 10 normal lives, yet well into his 70s, Reg continues to add to his resume. In our conversation we discuss Reg's upbringing, early memories and his inspiration for a life at sea. We delve into his early career, developing into a leader, working and living around the world, dealing with various stakeholders, managing stressful situations and so much more. You can contact Reg on reginaldamcnee@gmail.com. Thanks again for listening to Moments of Clarity. It is a privilege to be able to share these conversations with you all. Today's episode is a conversation with the incredible Amie McNee - author, book doula and creativity coach. We talk all about feeling uninspired - all the tried and tested ways to get out of productivity slumps and the ebbs and flows of creativity. We're currently in lockdown again in Sydney which is definitely not the most inspiring place to be but we feel like these periods of feeling uninspired can appear out of nowhere regardless of external circumstances. Amie is one of our favourite people to follow on social media - her account is one of our go-to sources for inspiration and encouragement when we're feeling a bit stagnant so we hope you enjoy our conversation and get something out of it that sparks your inspiration into action again. This episode is also a little different this week because Amie had recorded her own meditation to help with feeling uninspired - it just made sense as her role as a creativity coach and we feel like this is one of our most magical meditations yet. ---Follow us on IG - @relateandmeditateFollow Daisy Clementine on IG - @daisyclementinaFollow Amie McNee on IG - @inpiredtowritePlease share this episode with anyone you feel it may benefit, give us a rating on Apple Podcasts and subscribe to be kept in the loop with new episode releases. Please also drop us a review with what you need a meditation for and we'll create an episode in your honour - promise. We hope you enjoy the episode. Loads of love!

For those of you that have been following along on my journey for a while, you will know that 2020 was one of the biggest years of my life professionally. My business experienced incredible growth, I welcomed so many more members into the Sistahood and I launched my first mastermind to help businesswomen scale their businesses and make huge impact. It has been so rewarding, but now looking back on that I am realising what a crazy time that was and how all of us were set up to fail as far as not taking time to rest, feeling like we needed to hustle to change our business models due to covid and to give as much as we could to our communities who were all needing support. So I did all the things. I got it all done, but by the end of the year I was severely rundown, my immune system was shot, I had a fatty liver and I was wrecked. I vowed that 2021 would be different and then the year started out to be just as crazy if not crazier than 2020. Something needs to give. I am now truly realising and leaning into the fact that I need to slow down. I have been burnt out and it's exhausting. My guest today on the podcast is Amie Mcnee and is the perfect woman to chat to about this topic. This is actually her second time on the podcast too. Amie is a phenomenal writer and you need to go follow her on Instagram. She is so honest, thought-provoking and really honest about what she needs. Amie has written extensively on the topic of burnout and I want you to really take what you can from this episode. Please learn from the experiences that we share today and take a look at how you run your life too.LINKS:Amie's previous episode on The Confidence ChroniclesFor The Burnt Out Artist https://www.amiemcnee.com/shop/p/for-the-burnt-out-artistFor the Procrastinatorhttps://www.amiemcnee.com/shop/p/we-need-your-art-collectionFor the Perfectionisthttps://www.amiemcnee.com/shop/p/we-need-your-art-collectionThe Journaling Course https://www.amiemcnee.com/journaling-courseWHERE TO FIND ERIKA:BUY MY BOOKInstagram: @thequeenofconfidenceFacebook: @TheconfidencequeenYouTube: The Queen Of ConfidenceLinkedIn: https://au.linkedin.com/in/erika-cramer-ab695571Sistahood Program: https://thequeenofconfidence.com/sistahood/Website: www.thequeenofconfidence.com
