Do you want to know how to shift your negative energy to positive when you're in a bad mood? Anytime, Anywhere... First, you need to analyze yourself, your mood, and your current atmosphere. Any other external factor No matter what the reasoning may be, identify it. Now, that you have identified the cause and effect of your unhappy mood, I challenge you to BUST IT.... Goodafternoon, I want to end the week with some Feel Good Friday inspiration!! Today's Feel Good Thought is...If not you, then who? This inspirational Feel Good Thought today is about having self belief and really believing in you. There is a great youtube video by knickback which ties in nicely with the theme of if not you then who? It is called “What are you waiting for?” It talks about “What are you waiting for?” and some of the inspiring words from the song are; Are you waiting for the right excuse? Are you waiting for the perfect night? Are you waiting till the time is right? Don't you want to learn to deal with fear? Don't you want to take the wheel and steer? You gotta go reach for the top Believe in every dream that you got Your only living once so tell me What are you waiting for?” (Click on the youtube video below to watch the entire video) Aren't these words above powerful? - What are you waiting for? The difference between success and failure can be a shortfall of just giving up too soon, so don't be afraid to keep going and pushing through the challenging times to reach your dreams. Believe in the dreams you have! Here are three things to consider when thinking about the quote - 'If not you, then who?' What is Your WHY?? What result are you trying to achieve? Why are you hoping to achieve this? How would it feel if you achieved this goal? Remember If not your then who - so go out and work on your dreams. Goodmorning, Today's Feel Good Thought is..."Forget Your Fear and Move Forward!" In today's podcast, I share some awareness around the emotion of fear. Learn how to overcome fear as it appears with these three steps to consider: Take time out and just breathe;  It is difficult to find clarity around a fear when you are flooded in the emotion. By sitting and breathing in peace and quiet it will help you to slow down, find some calmness and understand why you are feeling the fear. So, by slowing down, focusing on the breathe it can help with decreasing any stress around the fear and seeking some stillness and clarity. Talk it out: Speak to someone about your fear and talk it out! When you are able to share the fear with another it can help with overcoming the fear, they may be able to support you so you feel a decrease in the fearful emotion and it also can help with putting things in perspective. Take Action: Knowing that if you speak to someone about your fear, work through the awareness of why you are feeling the fear and take some time out to just breathe, then you are one step closer to moving forward by taking action. When taking action you are seeking a way towards finding a solution and moving forward. Goodmorning! Today's Feel Good Thought is about disconnecting from technology and reconnecting to self and this begins by being mindful of the time spent on the phone. The thought for today is... 'Put down your phone and reconnect to self' Be mindful today of the time you are spending looking at a screen, whether it be a computer screen, phone, ipad etc... We can fill so many quiet moments in our day by looking at our phone and scrolling through social media. Today I share with you some ways in which you can put down your phone, disconnect from technology and reconnect to self. Step outside and just breathe. If you are working indoors on the computer all day, think about what do you do on your lunch break. If you are tempted to check your phone, try to take some moments of timeout to step outside instead and get some fresh air, take a look around at the environment that surrounds you and have gratitude for what you see. Spend lunchtime with a colleague and enjoy lunch chatting with each other. Instead of spending lunchtime, eating and hanging out on to social media, hang out with a colleague and chat instead. Focus on your food. Turn the phone off or put it away when you eat a meal. When we focus on what we eat, we enjoy the meal more and are more mindful of how much food we are consuming. 20minutes before bedtime, disconnect from any techonology and do something nourishing for you such as enjoy a cup of tea or listen to relaxing music, read a book or use this time as a reflection time to think about the best part of the day and people who you are grateful for in your life. Today think about how can you disconnect from technology and reconnect to self. Listen to the podcast by clicking on the play button above to find out more. Happy Monday!! Start the week feeling inspired by listening to the latest Feel Good Thoughts Podcast #44 where I interview an inspiring Australian, who has been a multiple world record holder for endurance running, has served 8 years as a Member of Australia's Parliament, with 3 years as Parliamentary Secretary for Education, Science and Training. He has been the winner of ‘Achiever of the Year' (2000), awarded by the Prime Minister and has raised millions of dollars for causes during his 20 year running career. Today I am excited to share an inspiring interview with Pat Farmer. Pat has achieved many incredible ultra marathon events including the Pole to Pole run which was 20,900km. In this run, he achieved more then 20 million steps from the North Pole to the South Pole running. Something which is pretty amazing about this run was that Pat did the entire race against time with no days off at all. He ran for 10 months and 13 days covering 14 countries. Throughout today's podcast, Pat chats about his journey from Pole to Pole and also about his upcoming 'Spirit Of India Run' which commences tomorrow on Australia Day. This run is a journey from the southern most point of India along the west coast towards Mumbai and beyond to Delhi and the Himalayan mountains. Pat is about to embark on a run which is over 4000km in 60 days. He will be running an average 80km each day. Isn't that amazing!! Pat's aim for this run is to promote goodwill, friendship and trade between Australia and India, while also highlighting and raising funds for girls' education in India. I asked Pat if he has a motivational quote, a feel good thought or something that inspires him. He shared this... "There is no force on this earth greater then your own personal will. If you want to do something and I mean literally if you want to do anything with all your heart, you can and you will find a way. But if you don't truly want to do it, you will simply find an excuse. Figure out what it is that you want with all your heart and remember no excuses" - Pat Farmer For more inspiration from Pat Farmer ensure to press play above to hear the entire interview and follow his journey at PatFarmer.com. Pat’s aim for this run is to promote goodwill, friendship and trade between Australia and India, while also highlighting and raising funds for girls’ education in India. Life is not always easy and sometimes things happen which are disappointing. In today's Feel Good Thoughts Podcast #43 I open my heart and share how I coped through a disappointment recently which really broke my heart. It was one of those situations which I didn't see coming and I never thought it would happen to me. How did I cope to overcome the disappointment?  The first thing I did was honor the now. I allowed myself to feel sad, to cry whatever it is I was feeling then I began to immerse myself into love and think about the disappointment and out of the experience was there something I could learn? I realised that it will make me be stronger and next time I will have more knowledge, I discovered there were lessons I have learnt. But I also remembered to honor the now, I felt the feelings but then I knew I had to get back up, I couldn't give up. I remembered this.... To think about the blessings and lessons! Everything happens for a reason and good comes out of it, is a quote I always bring up when I am going through challenges. And then I ask this question... "After a disappointment how is there any good from this situation?" Then I asked the question again… and I thought; The good is in the lesson, the good is in the learning, the good is knowing that you have the strength to get back up again and move forward. So, today know that if you are going through a challenge that you can do this, you can get back up, build your strength and move on. You see I don't believe life is about winning – it is experience and along the way the lessons we learn and the growth that comes from an experience is a gift. Never give up on yourself, reach out to someone who is a support unit who can help you through a challenging time and know that you can do this. Practice Peace – Feel Good Thoughts Podcast #41

Goodmorning, Happy Monday!! Today I want to share with you some tools that you can consider when practicing peace in your daily lifestyle. There are 5 Components When Practicing Peace: 1. Find a Sacred Place Find a quiet, sacred place in which you can do your practice. It may be outdoors at a park, beach or in your backyard. Or it may be indoors in a place in your house. Find a place you resonate with that you can call your sacred place of practice. It is important to find this place so you know that when you go to your sacred place this is the place where you have peace, serenity and love. Create your own sacred place by choosing somewhere that is a place where you feel at peace. For me, I am a real beach girl so I have a sacred place at the beach that I go to in the morning. It is a meditation rock where a lot of people go to meditate and practice yoga at sunrise. It is absolutely stunning.  Why do I love to meditate at sunrise? Just as the sunrises, there is a sense of real peace and quiet in the air. It is very tranquil. I like to go the beach and watch the sun peak through the horizon up over the ocean into the sky. When I watch the sunrise, I sit in stillness and observe the nature around me; I listen to the waves, I can hear birds chirping and it really is a peaceful, beautiful way to start the day feeling relaxed, centered, grounded and at peace. With every sunrise it is an opportunity to start fresh, each day is a new day. It is your opportunity to shine bright like the sun. Start the day with a clean canvas and paint it as colorfully as you like. It is a new day with the chance to start new. Believe it or not the days when I choose to wake early and watch the sunrise and meditate I feel more awake and energized throughout the day. I feel like I have so many more hours in my day, it is very productive. The secret is to get to bed early to ensure you have enough rest to be motivated to wake early. ‘The early bird catches the worm'  Therefore rising early at sunrise and going to my sacred place at the beach where I can see the sunrise is the perfect place for me to meditate. This is just an example of a sacred space and practice. It is important to recognize each person is different and you may find a place completely different that resonates with you for your sacred space of practice. 2. No Technology Once you have found your sacred place, make it a ritual to have no technology whilst you practice. If you are beginning your day with meditation practice, then try not to check your emails, social media, watch tv or turn on the computer before your practice. Keep your thoughts clear and alert from your morning awakening because once we check emails, thoughts are in reaction mode, we start to think about that person we need to get back to, we think about what our boss needs us to do and we build moments of stress and reactions which in turn builds action to want to be wired with emails, social media and technology. Therefore by not clocking into any forms of technology we are able to be clearer with the practice. 3. Honor Honor yourself in the knowing that this time you have allocated just for you. There is no need to feel like you have to rush or be somewhere else. Allocate the time when you know this time is set aside just for you to be. When you take the time to do your practice, be patient, be nurturing, be loving to you and know that this is your time to just be. I like to start my meditation practices with an intention, such as; ‘The intention for my practice today is to find clarity to know where I want to go or what I want to do today' 4. Breathe I like to begin the meditation practice in a comfortable position with palms facing upwards, ready to receive. As I begin breathing, I start to bring my focus and energies into the present now. I say my intention and then focus on the breath; and I a...

Happy Weekend! Today I want to share the thought around 'decisions shape direction!'. When making a decision YOU need to make a choice and once you make a choice things will change. And your choices will have a impact on the direction in which you want to go. So, it is really important to ensure to make healthy choices which will work positively in the direction of where you want to go. Sometimes decisions can be really tough because you're not sure on which way to go. But what is more challenging? Making a decision or staying stuck in the mud and not moving anywhere without a decision at all? I want to share with you this two step process I consider when making a decision; Think about all the variables: What will happen if you make the decision, what will happen if you don't. What choices do you have around the decision and what healthy choice will you decide when moving forward. Ask your heart what it is that you really want to do: I like to sit in some peace and quiet and allow my inner thoughts and feelings to help guide me with making a healthy decision – sometimes you just know in your heart the real direction in which you want to go. Therefore by sitting in peace and quiet and having a clear mind to think about the variables, can help with making a decision from the heart. Tune into today's Feel Good Thoughts Podcast #40 where I share more about how decisions shape direction. Have a great weekend! The inspiration for today's Feel Good Thoughts Podcast, has come from one my listeners Suzanne and the topic for today is ‘Keeping The Heart Happy'. And I want to start with this inspiring feel good thought today which is; ‘YOU have a gift and that is the power to change your feeling at anytime, so today choose JOY, today choose HAPPY!' I love this quote and recently a close friend of mine watched Inside Out, she then wrote to me and said 'all I could think of the whole way through it was... OMG Joy is actually Joey!' LOL... And the reason why I live with JOY naturally is because I make the choice to choose happiness every single day. Isn't it amazing when we think that we all have the gift of choice, we can choose how we feel. Today I want to share with you about how you can create a happy heart by simply choosing JOY and choosing LOVE and making the conscious decision daily to keep the heart happy. But it begins with... Honoring your feeling. When your are not happy, seek some happiness by doing one thing that you LOVE and think about the last time you were happy and tap into that energy. Know your own happiness - Don't compare to what makes someone else happy. Know what makes YOU happy! Know what's important to you - because what is important to you, makes you happy! Do one thing a day that makes you happy! It is important also to realise that a thankful heart is a happy heart, so continue to have gratitude daily and appreciate how awesome YOU are. When was the last time you sat down and said 'thank you' to you or gave yourself some praise. We are great at giving others praise but it is just as important to do it for you too. Giving yourself positive reinforcement helps you to increase your individual happiness. Happiness notepad – At night write down 3 things that made you feel good or happy that day. Even on the days when you may have had challenges doing this small activity can help you to seek the good in the day. Look for the lessons in situations – When times are challenging and the heart is feeling like it needs some strength, begin by looking for the lessons. When we seek lessons we seek appreciation, opportunity and growth which leads the heart back towards happiness. So, there are a variety of ways of which we can keep the heart happy but it all really begins with YOU... seeking the choice to choose happiness, joy, positivity and love. How do people find stillness and clarity at this busy time of year? Tom shares with us how you can create an effective timetable in your day to help you to be more present in each moment and also with seeking some calmness in this busy time of year. Some key components to consider when seeking to be more present are; Phone time; Stay focused on the task at hand by putting the phone aside or away. Stillness - Regular practice of yoga and meditation. Putting blocks of time aside where you don't have to process any information is important. And you do this by allocating time for yoga or meditation practice. 'Meditation can be like... Putting your phone into the powerpoint and starting to reboot it's energy' I love this quote that Tom shares because it is so true, our bodies need time out to reboot and recharge and meditation is a beautiful practice in which you can implement to help you recharge. If we were to do a bit of stillness each day, how long should we do it for? In the podcast Tom shares with us more about what stillness is and the importance of breathe and mantra meditation. How do people find stillness and clarity at this busy time of year? Goodmorning, Today I want to share with you the importance of incorporating daily rituals. Daily rituals are activities that you enjoy and benefit you towards helping you to feel good. I enjoy doing daily rituals in the morning each day to help me start the day in a positive way. I find that taking some time out for you to do things that you love in the morning, really help with providing a solid foundation for the day ahead. I know that even if I just take 15 minutes in the morning for some rituals time, it can make all the difference with feeling good and starting the day in a positive way. Some of my morning rituals are; - Watching the sunrise - Meditation practice - Yoga practice - Mindfulness - Write down my thoughts - Think positive thoughts - affirmations - Read something inspiring - Move my body - some form of exercise - Catch up with a friend to go for a walk - Nourish the body ie. Enjoy a green smoothie How do you find the time to do morning rituals? 1. Wake up earlier in the morning; Even if you begin with waking up just 15 minutes earlier to take some time to start your day with mindfulness and positivity, this can make all the difference. I usually try and wake up an hour earlier to dedicate that time just for me. 2. Go to bed earlier; Try to go to bed earlier at night, so it is easier to wake up earlier in the morning. 3. Social Media free time; Replace social media moments in the morning with mindfulness moments. Ie. Whilst you eat breakfast or are enjoying a cup of tea in the morning, use that time to focus on setting some intentions for the day ahead or think positive thoughts and have some quiet time for you where you can be mindful without any technology. 4. Consistency Is The Key; Once you start doing the morning rituals on a regular basis, it makes it much easier to keep doing them. Be consistent and enjoy the benefits that morning rituals provide. 'Morning rituals are beautiful moments of time for you' What are some of your morning rituals? Share them below. Joey PS. Goodafternoon, Today's topic is around Stress... Stress is a natural emotion which comes up in life and on today's Feel Good Thoughts #31 I share with you some self love solutions which can help when in stressful situations. When stress appears I do some self love solutions including; Stop, Step Back and Breathe; If you feel like you are getting stressed or overwhelmed try to stop doing whatever it is that you are doing that's making you feel stressed. Step back or move away from the situation and take some time out to just breathe. Try to fix the focus more on breathing and seeking calmness around the situation. Find the calmness in the situation; Once you are able to stop, step away and breathe, it enables you to start to focus more on your breathe which will allow you to seek some calmness. Take time out; If you are inside working and feeling overwhelmed then take some time out and go outside, get some fresh air and take some time to breathe, go for a little walk and release the stress. Stop speaking and start listening within; If you are in a stressful conversation or situation then try to stop speaking and being seeking for some calmness in this situation. Once you feel calm, then being to find a solution to help overcome the stressful situation. Put things in perspective; Step out of the situation and think about putting things in perspective to assist with seeking clarity and calmness. 'Fix your focus on the solution rather then the stress. Spreading Christmas Cheer – Feel Good Podcast #27

Play Episode Listen Later Dec 11, 2015 11:03

Goodafternoon, With Christmas just around the corner today I want to share with you some ways in which you can bring Christmas cheer to others around you. Volunteering – Volunteering is a beautiful gift to give this Christmas, being able to spend some time helping others can help you to help you to feel good, spread happiness and feel happy! Studies have shown that volunteering has the power to reduce anxiety and depression. There are many different organisations at Christmas in which you can help, just do a little Google search online to see what volunteering opportunities are available close to where your live. Bake some gingerbread cookies and take them into work and surprise everyone in your team. Or  if you don't like to bake then maybe you could buy some and share them around. Share Christmas Cheer through surprising others. Offer to help someone – If you have a family member or friend who is feeling a little overwhelmed during the lead up to Christmas, then why not ask them if you can help them with anything; such as babysitting the kids or going over to their place and sitting with them to help wrap christmas presents can make all the difference. If someone is alone at Christmas time then invite them to your celebrations. This can make all the difference. Ask your friends, work collegues and friends what they are doing at Christmas? Be conscious of including others into your Christmas Cheer celebrations. Give back by donating a gift to those in need. Some stores run appeals, such as Kmart where you can get a tag from the Wishing Tree. Using one end of the tag, indicate the age group and gender of who you think might like to receive your gift. All you need to do then is place the gift under the Wishing Tree. Then you are able to take one half of the tag to hang on your tree at home. Share the love and Christmas Cheer this year by buying just one more gift and help someone smile this Christmas. Go and EXPLORE – Surprise a loved one with an adventure this Christmas. You can create your own experience such as creating a surprise day out, like going for a hike or if it is hot then visit a new coastline of beaches or stand up paddle boarding or if it is winter you could perhaps go snowboarding. For adventure ideas you could also visit websites like redballoon.com.au which is an awesome platform to choose an experience to buy as a gift voucher. Experiences are always fun because they help create lasting memories. Create your own Christmas cards – A fun activity for the holidays (especially for kids and big kids!) is to spread Christmas cheer is through creating your own Christmas cards. Its really easy just grab some different coloured paper or cardboard maybe red and green, some glitter and away you go!Another idea could be to buy some plain white or plain brown wrapping paper and get the kids to create the Christmas wrapping paper by painting or drawing Christmas trees, santa, stars, Happy Christmas anything like that on the paper and then use that as wrapping paper for the Christmas presents. Compliment a person each and every day from today till Christmas day and share the Christmas cheer through happiness and compliments. It may be something as simple as letting someone know they are truly appreciated, thanking a collegue or a friend. It is really about taking time to notice something nice about another. I hope you have found some of these Christmas Cheer ideas helpful, please SHARE this post to help spread the Christmas Cheer with others. Merry Christmas everyone, enjoy your weekend!
