Jason and Matt discuss how to handle difficult situations in real life scenarios where you are disappointed or feel let down by God or others around you.
This week, we kicked off our sermon series Established as we take a look at the different stories throughout 1 Samuel. This week, we looked at the story of Hannah and how she was barren but rooted in God and found His faithfulness amidst disappointment.1 Samuel 1:1-2 Genesis 2:24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.Matthew 19:4-6 He (Jesus) answered, “Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning made them male and female, 5 and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh'? 6 So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.” I SAMUEL 1:3-18 Being Established DURING Great Disappointment1. Continue in Prayer 10, 12, 13, 16, 26, 27.2. Endure in all Things 183. Could the pain you feel actually be wisdom waiting to unfold? How often do your expectations write a story your reality can’t live up to? Could disappointment be your teacher, not your enemy? In this episode of A Really Good Cry, Radhi Devlukia dives deep into the emotion we all try to avoid—disappointment. She explores why this feeling cuts so deep, describing it as the space between expectation and reality—a form of grief for what could have been. Drawing from her own reflections, Radhi reveals how disappointment often says more about our assumptions than the situation itself. Instead, Radhi invites listeners to find peace in the middle ground: To feel the emotion fully, take ownership of their response, and reframe disappointment as tuition—the price we pay for wisdom. In this episode, you’ll learn: Why disappointment may be a form of grief, not failure How perfectionism and shrinking dreams both come from fear Why effort doesn’t always equal outcome—and that’s okay How to reframe disappointment as tuition, not tragedy Why feeling your emotions fully gives them less power How to stop outsourcing your peace to other people or results You’ll learn how to stop outsourcing your peace, communicate with compassion, and find meaning in moments that didn’t go as planned. This isn’t about pretending everything’s fine—it’s about trusting that you can handle what is. In Episode 43 of the Mentored Podcast, hosts Carson Pue, Chuck, and Ingrid Davis address a reality that every leader eventually faces: the challenge of dealing with disappointment. Whether it stems from a missed opportunity, a personnel change, or a vision that didn't materialize as planned, disappointment can be disorienting. This episode offers a compassionate and practical roadmap for navigating these difficult emotions with wisdom. Rather than simply "pushing through" or burying the pain, the hosts encourage leaders to steward their experiences for growth. Key takeaways from this conversation include: Managing Emotions: Why validating your grief is essential for emotional health and avoiding bitterness. Reframing Setbacks: How to shift your perspective to see disappointment not as a failure, but as a step toward reorientation. Applying Faith: Trusting in God's ability to "recycle" our struggles into redemptive purposes and long-term fruitfulness. If you are navigating a season of unmet expectations, we invite you to reflect on how these moments might be shaping your character. Tune in to the full episode for encouraging insights on building emotional resilience and turning lament into action.
The saying goes "Expectation leads to disappointment, which leads to suffering". Yes but how do we deal with those feelings? How do we push past those complicated emotions because it is hard to go through life without becoming attached to the things we care about most? Breath, my friend. It is through the breath.

Humans and artists alike face many disappointments. Things don't go as we'd hoped. Rejection. Lack of sales. Paintings not behaving. However, it's not the event that defines us, it's how we deal with it. Yeah, sounds great, right? Sounds easy too. But hoooooow? Wellllll we could journal (@karengeorgeart pales at this idea) or talk it through (now she's slightly green) or we could face it, relegate it to where it belongs and move on to the next thing (@gaynorljart frowns as we could always analyse a tad more…). Or maybe we could combine them all and see how that goes. Now, as always, we invite you to tell us how you feel about disappointment, there's lots more to chat about. Sometimes self-care doesn't go as planned. In this raw and relatable episode of Mucked Up My Self-Care, Jill and Linda open up about the frustration of interrupted routines, the heaviness of survival mode, and the disappointment that comes when carefully laid self-care intentions get derailed. From toilet training surprises to early-morning wake-ups, they share how boundaries, mindset shifts, and even tiny grounding moments can help moms move from discouragement back toward refreshment. In this episode, you'll learn:Why self-care routines often fall apart during unpredictable parenting seasonsHow survival mode feels—and why setting boundaries matters more than everThe role of disappointment in motherhood, and how to process it without guiltCreative ways to weave in self-care when plans fall through (like barefoot grounding at church!)Why giving yourself permission to “abandon the week” can sometimes be the healthiest choiceHow small perspective shifts turn everyday moments into opportunities for care and connectionDisappointments will come, and survival mode is a season every mom knows. But self-care doesn't have to disappear completely when life gets messy. By adjusting expectations, finding creative alternatives, and offering yourself compassion, you can still carve out space to breathe, reset, and reconnect. As Jill and Linda remind us—you don't have to get it perfect, you just have to keep trying.Until next week, we hope you can unstuck your muck!

Have you ever noticed how our past failures can cloud our future hopes? How the places where we fell short seem to follow us—coloring our perspective, fueling our fears, and shaping how we think about what's ahead? In this powerful message, we dive into John 21, where Peter, once again, finds himself around a fire—fishing, failing, and facing a familiar scene. But this time, Jesus is waiting. The same setting where Peter denied Jesus becomes the setting where he's restored. This sermon reminds us that our greatest moments of shame don't have to define our destiny. Jesus meets us in the very places we feel disqualified and rewrites the story.Don't let the past write the final chapter—God still has more for you.#Sermon #John21 #Peter #Restoration #Faith #Hope #ChristianSermon #OvercomingFailure #JesusRestoresFor more info on RCC visit us at https://rcc4me.comYou can download the sermon notes at https://bit.ly/rccsundays

From the beginning of the youth sports journey to the end, disappointment is a present emotion that is a counter-balance to the fun of the overall experience. Disappointing losses. Disappointing performances. Disappointing injuries. Disappointment with coaching decisions. Disappointing behavior. Teaching our kids to handle it, to bounce back from it, and to overcome it is critical for success in sports and in life. And as sports parents, we get disappointed also as circumstances don't go our kid's way, providing us an opportunity to model the right response to our young athletes. On this episode, the guys discuss all of it, share personal experiences, and offer encouragement.
