Tim McMillan & Rachel Snow are a duo from Melbourne, Australia, based in Germany and currently immersed in an endless tour entertaining and delighting audiences across the world. Her Australian number-one albums are The Sound of White (2004), On a Clear Night (2007) and The Ol' Razzle Dazzle (2012), and her singles include "Scar", "Steer" and "Where I Stood". Higgins was nominated for five ARIA Music Awards in 2004 and won 'Best Pop Release' for "Scar". In 2005, she was nominated for seven more awards and won five. Higgins won her seventh ARIA in 2007. Mick Young (aka Young Werther) makes music that wraps you in its arms and slowly seeps into your skin. From the gently finger-picked guitar through his more rollicking moments, to the poetic shivers of his beautiful voice, this is glorious modern folk music for the soul, with a distinctive Australian bent. Mick began his career with Melbourne indie folk/rock band The Restless in 2000 writing all the songs on their critically acclaimed 2004 self-titled album. The album received nationwide radio coverage on Triple J (Australia's national network) and 3 singles from the album were named “King Pick” by Australia's top radio DJ, Richard Kingsmill. After 3 EPs and one album, The Restless went their separate ways in 2006 and Mick became a solo artist under the name Young Werther. In 2008, he released the beautifully haunting, autumnal Treasure mini-album which was named in Beat Magazine's “Singles of the Year”. This success led to shows with some of Australia's biggest names including Paul Dempsey (Something for Kate), Kate Miller Heidke, Clare Bowditch, Katie Noonan and James Reyne. After extensive touring Young released Knights of the Department Store (Popboomerang Records) in 2010 and was named Triple J “Feature Artist”. Mick has recently moved to Europe and now England to grow his fan base there and is working on a new album. Melbourne-based Richard – Rich to his friends – got his first job booking bands in pubs at 17, when, legally, he couldn't even be in them. Until recently, Rich booked several Melbourne pubs and clubs, including: Evelyn Hotel, Punters Club, Corner Hotel, Public Bar, Northcote Social Club, East Brunswick Club, Shebeen, 170 Russell and Newtown Social Club (NSW).In the early 2000s, he started booking and programming festivals, which include: St Kilda Festival, Queenscliff, Falls, Southbound, Pushover, Groovin' the Moo, Parklife, West Coast Blues & Roots, Northwest Festival, Splendour and The Plot. Rich has booked early tours for the White Stripes, Blink-182, QOTSA and Beck at venues, including the first ever Australian show by The Pixies; at festivals he has booked Kings of Leon, Lorde, the Flaming Lips, Tame Impala, Vampire Weekend, Weird Al Yankovic, The Strokes, The Roots, Public Enemy, TV on the Radio, Black Keys, Alt-J, Arctic Monkeys and many more. In addition to being an active presence in Melbourne's music community, Rich has busied himself with a bunch of other music-related stuff over the years: – Wrote and edited Form Guide, a monthly 60-page magazine featuring interviews, album reviews and a gig guide, founded Way Over There, an artist-run record label (distributed via Shock) that released 65 full-length albums from artists such as Machine Translations, The Dead Salesmen, Gersey, Mississippi Barry and Blue Grassy Knoll, Hosted Triple R drive-time radio show ‘Incoming' for 15 years, showcasing new Australian and New Zealand music , arranged music, sorted publishing and booked bands to appear on Channel Nine's Mick Molloy Show, Most of the work Rich has done – from booking bands in pubs, to programming festivals, to self-publishing magazines – has started out on a voluntary basis. Owner and founder of Jack the Bear's Deluxe Mastering. Mastering has taken up the majority of his career since starting work in the music business in 1981. He's had a stint at recording and mixing, and a concurrent career in radio on Toronto's CFNY as an announcer, as well as Melbourne's Triple M, but thankfully found mastering as his calling. Tony's been lucky enough to have travelled extensively around the world, meeting and learning from some of the best in the business, and was trained in the art of vinyl mastering by Rick Essig at Frankford Wayne Mastering Labs, NYC. This was the same studio that that produced the likes of Tom Coyne and Herb Powers. Tony (Jack, to most people) started freelance mastering in 1990. In 1999 shop was set up at Melbourne's Sing Sing Studios, and after establishing himself as one of the country's most sought after engineers he made the break in early 2006 to build his dream facility. Mia Celeste Dyson (born 1981) is an Australian singer, songwriter, and guitarist. She has released six studio albums. Her second, Parking Lots won the ARIA Award for Best Blues and Roots Album at the ARIA Music Awards of 2005. Since 2013, Dyson has concurrently released music under the name Dyson, Stringer & Cloher with Liz Stringer and Jen Cloher. Mia has also toured all over Australia and internationally. Following 11 and a half years at Australia's first independent mastering facility, initially mastering for cassette tapes, then as Senior Mastering Engineer for CD mastering and audio restoration, in 2006 Adam went freelance and began working from Jack the Bear's Deluxe Mastering in Melbourne's arts hub of Brunswick. In 2011, seeing a need to further support local artists, Adam revisited community radio, co-producing and presenting Radio Roarhouse for four years, along with radio training mentoring, at Melbourne station North West FM for non-profit arts initiative Roarhouse Melbourne. Tristan is a Melbourne based bass player with 20 years of gigging and recording under his belt. Formerly a classically trained double bassist, Tristan now writes bassy, beat driven electronica. Centaurs plays live as one third of live electronic outfit Virtual Proximity and is also one quarter of Melbourne band Blackchords. Introducing Ubiq and their debut four track EP called ‘The Obsolete.' The band were formed by Tristan Courtney, the bass player in Blackchords and The Tiger & Me. Not content with two creative outlets he formed Ubiq, originally a three piece, they settled as a two piece (Tristan Courtney and Jeremy Kirk) after original member Sarah moved to New York. I'm not good at quitting things. You? I tend to stick with it, even when things suck. That's been a huge positive in my life... It's allowed me to build a skill in singing, playing guitar and song-writing, keep making music when it's hard, get a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, have only cold showers for the last 15 months, eat a plant based diet for 17 years, stay in an uncomfortable conversation when I want to storm out. Sticking with it yields so many positive outcomes. But… it has also kept me stuck in places that don't serve me anymore. Relationships, conversations, education, dud songs, books I should have abandoned, commitments I should have pulled out of and most of all a job that I stopped loving. So, I quit my lovely, comfortable, excellent paying job with terrific colleagues that brought my parents the status and pride they'd hoped for. Lightning struck my curiosity and took me over when I heard KISS blaring out of our garage in an out-of-the-way little country town in rural Australia. There was something different about the quality of the sound. It was palpable, alive and it sounded like KISS were IN MY GARAGE! To back it up for a second, I was 10 years old at the time and just starting to get into the rock bands of the late 80's/early 90's, like Motley Crew, Poison, Guns n' roses, Aerosmith and ACDC. Don't judge me, I was 10 at the time. I'd watch these bands on TV and I started to have some fantasies of being a one of them, but it all felt so out of reach. Musicians seemed like mythical creatures that would magically appear on the radio and on MTV out of the ether. They would project this energy, flamboyance, creativity and intensity that was somewhat otherworldly. I wasn't conscious of it at the time, but music lit me up and went in so deep that it had a grip on me. I didn't choose it, it took a hold of me like nothing else in life.
