Got started this week with the breaking news of 3 Americans killed by ISIS in Syria, and then talked about the Yemen civil war getting worse. Also the Venezuelan oil tanker seized, Mexico VBIED kills 3 cops, France First Lady under fire for feminist slur, and a Colorado sheriff's deputy was caught pleasuring himself in his car outside a public gym. This season, stop chasing the fragile, conditional peace of an Instagram-perfect holiday and join our new series, "Finding Christmas." We'll trade in "anxious wishing" for the "confident expectation" of true biblical hope, and discover that real peace, or *Shalom*, is not the absence of chaos, but the unshakable presence of wholeness found in the Prince of Peace. It's time to let go of trying to manufacture calm and find the Savior who was born into the chaos of the first Christmas to show you He can handle yours.
While getting an annual mammogram is pretty commonplace for many women, the testing isn't always accessible for many reasons: language barriers, a lack of insurance or being underinsured, the inability to get to a clinic, and childcare issues, just to name a few. Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's Mammography Van has a solution for that. The hospital has packed up a full mammography suite into a van, making stops around Greater Boston to ensure everyone can get a scan who needs it. Tia Goodman, the Program Director for the Mammography Van, joins the show this week with details.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

#707 Want a business that turns fresh asphalt into a “blank canvas” — and pays well for satisfying, repeatable work? In this episode, host Kirsten Tyrrel talks with Cinco Winston, founder of Trueline Striping in Central Texas, about how he left a stable construction career, skipped the franchise route, and bootstrapped his own parking lot striping company to cash flow within two months. He shares how he trained with an out-of-state pro, bought only the essentials to get started, and strategically targeted customers who actually value curb appeal and recurring maintenance. Cinco breaks down startup costs, pricing, profit margins, seasonality, and why he's still running lean while planning for future growth. If you've ever wondered how “unsexy” service businesses quietly generate great income and freedom, this conversation will open your eyes! What we discuss with Cinco: + Leaving construction to start striping + Choosing independent over franchise + Training with an out-of-state striping company + Bootstrapping equipment and startup costs + Hitting cash flow within two months + Discounting early jobs to gain clients + Targeting customers who value curb appeal + Door knocking and in-person sales + Managing seasonality and recurring clients + Profit margins, salary, and plans to scale Thank you, Cinco! Key Takeaways:Chicago's 2008 parking meter deal resulted in lost long-term revenue for the city, with investors earning profits and retaining rights for decades.Monroe Carroll, Sr.'s initiative to monetize underused railroad land in the 1950s evolved into Central Parking, benefiting from legal requirements and the car boom. The parking lot industry grew due to high operating margins, captive demand, and minimal maintenance, drawing attention from Wall Street and institutional investors. The business model has expanded into industrial outdoor storage, supported by trends like e-commerce growth and infrastructure investment, resulting in surging demand and rental rates.Operators have adapted to changes such as ride-sharing and eliminated parking minimums by introducing new uses: EV charging hubs, multi-purpose lots, and last-mile logistics. The enduring insight: overlooked, low-competition “boring” businesses (like parking lots and storage yards) can offer stable, significant long-term returns for savvy investors.

Alex and his co-founders spent 2018 pitching parking lot owners on computer vision tech. Every meeting ended the same way: "Cute startup, come back in 30 years." So they did something else—they bought the parking operators and implemented the AI themselves. VCs called them delusional. But today, Metropolis has 20 million members and adds 1 million new members every month. Every 1-2 seconds someone signs up.Alex's biggest lesson? On this 3d long-form edition of #TheShot of #DigitalHealth Therapy, Jim Joyce and I had the privilege of sitting down for an unforgettable deep dive with Tim Wentworth, the candid, thoughtful, fiercely grounded and recently retired CEO of Walgreens (previously CEO of Evernorth Health Services). Tim's story reads like a masterclass in leadership and life itself - from sweeping parking lots in Rochester to leading global healthcare giants like Cigna's Evernorth and Walgreens. Across nearly two hours (and honestly, we could've gone four), Tim brought raw honesty, wisdom, and humor to every story - from his early scholarship thanks to a teacher who believed in him, to leading multi-billion dollar companies but always defining what it means to lead with heart. This is not just a leadership interview - it's a living case study in resilience, humility, and purpose.

On an ordinary Tuesday morning in October 2018, Cheryl Coker vanished from her suburban Ohio home. Her SUV was found abandoned in a Kroger parking lot with her purse and phone still inside. Cheryl—a bubbly, talkative mom and grandmother who never met a stranger—had not left on her own. For a year and a half, her family searched desperately for answers. Then, in April 2020, her remains were discovered in a wooded area not far from her home. Police believe Cheryl was murdered inside her house before being taken to the location where she was found. The only person of interest? Her husband, Bill Coker. This case explores the heartbreaking disappearance and murder of a devoted mother who was on the verge of starting a new chapter in her life. Despite strong suspicions and an active investigation, no charges have been filed. Cheryl's family is still waiting for justice.
