Coming to you live from the famed Studio B in our Auckland office, we kick off our special anniversary series. To mark the occasion, we've asking listeners to get in touch telling us the one Kiwi artist they'd love to see perform live. One name appeared over and over again - Marlon Williams. Last month he released his highly anticipated Maori language album 'Te Whare Tiwekaweka'. The album was accompanied by the documentary 'Marlon Williams: Nga Ao E Rua - Two Worlds'. It's a pleasure to welcome Marlon and our live audience to the Auckland studio!
Marlon Williams: Ngā Ao E Rua – Two Worlds Filmed over the course of four years, this documentary follows musician Marlon Williams as he takes on a deeply personal project — producing his first album entirely in te reo Māori, Te Whare Tīwekaweka. Williams began his musical journey as a teen, songwriting in Lyttleton, then carved out his own distinctive country sound that quickly took him to the world stage. Now, through te reo Māori, he sets out to reconnect with his Ngāi Tahu and Ngāi Tai roots. Directed by Ursula Grace Williams in her feature debut, the film follows Williams through international tours to quiet home life, all while working on the album. Thunderbolts* Ensnared in a death trap, an unconventional team of antiheroes —Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, Red Guardian, Ghost, Taskmaster and John Walker— embarks on a dangerous mission that forces them to confront the darkest corners of their pasts. INTERVIEW: Director Ursula Grace Williams on new Marlon Williams documentary 'Ngā Ao E Rua' by Zac Hoffman on Radio One 91FM Dunedin
Aotearoa singer/songwriter Marlon Williams'(Kāi Tahu, Ngāi Tai) is a singer and songwriter from Lyttleton, New Zealand. He's spent this past decade creating a personal blend of country, indie, and folk music; and he's been an actor, and makes an appearance in the film A Star Is Born. But his new album is something different – maybe not musically, but Marlon Williams is from a Maori family and has chosen to sing in the Maori language on his new record, called Te Whare Tīwekaweka. He's also the subject of a new documentary film, which follows Williams through international tours to quiet home life, all while working on the album. Marlon Williams chats about his journey with his ancestral tongue, his collaborators, and the process of writing his first te reo Māori album; he plays solo, in-studio. Set list: 1. Aua Atu Rā 2. Kāhore He Manu E 3.
Marlon Williams is live in studio talking about his new album and the documentary about his te reo journey "Ngā Ao E Rua - Two Worlds". Plus, how a cop is using a unique way to turn the tide on youth crime, and those committing it. “Made with the support of Te Māngai Pāho and New Zealand On Air”

One of New Zealand's finest voices, Marlon Williams has released his fourth studio album – written entirely in te reo Māori. The Kiwi musician has a global presence, having collaborated with the likes of Florence + the Machine, and toured with legends like Bruce Springsteen, bagging six NZ Music Awards and an APRA silver scroll. But for ‘Te Whare Tīwekaweka', Williams returned to his roots. Translating to ‘Messy House', Williams told Jack Tame the title is a metaphor for the pains of chaos and creation, and how creativity often comes from disorder. “You have a house full of, of ideas, and, and you sort of sit quietly and let them talk to each other, and then hopefully they form some sort of cohesive thing.” The idea of writing an album entirely in te reo has been floating around Williams' brain for a while, he was just waiting for an excuse to begin. “I grew up speaking a little bit,” he told Tame. “I went to Kōhanga Reo, but it all sort of drifted away from me again as I went into my, moved on into childhood, into primary school.” Although he drifted away from speaking the language, Williams didn't stop singing in te reo. “It's just such a, a beautifully, a beautifully sung language.” “I always knew at some point that I was gonna come back around and, and give myself an excuse." New Zealand's indie darling, singer-songwriter Marlon Williams is back with a brand new album. The Lyttelton local is known for his crooning vocals, taking home many awards over his career, which started when he was just 17 and includes credits in a few Hollywood blockbusters. Now in his 30s, his new album Te Whare Tiwekaweka is his first Maori language album. And it's been a long time coming. A documentary about the making of the album, Marlon Williams: Nga Ao E Rua - Two Worlds is an intimate look behind the scenes, following Marlon over his five year journey to reconnect with his lost ancestral language in order to make this album. The documentary's set to be released nationwide on May 1st. And the album's out now.

Hey Fandom! Welcome back for another episode of Challenge Trash Talk Roundtable with your hosts Rick, Corrina, Tony, Josh and Cory! That's right, we have a full house on this one! Fair warning: We recorded this episode approximately 6 weeks ago. Since then one of the girls we talked about on this episode made some choices that have been very controversial amongst the fanbase so to avoid becoming involved in something we have nothing to do with, we have chosen to omit that person's name from this podcast. Other than that, we hope you all really enjoy this one as this will be our last Roundtable discussion episode of this long break before we get back to recapping as USA2 is about to start! But we're not here to talk about USA 2. Today we sat down to discuss which rookies we would want to see back. To give ourselves a Challenge, we decided to only look at players who appeared on 2 seasons or less, did not win a final and appeared somewhere between season 20 and season 35. But before we break into the Rookie talk, we break down some of our predictions for the next year, what we think is going to happen with the worlds/international versions of The Challenge and Cory tells us just how bad his road rage is (0:00 - 17:00). Then we talk about the girls first discussing a variety of people from Georgia Harrison, Da'Vonne Rogers, Devyn Simone, Briana LaCuesta, Heather Cooke, Alicia Wright, Faith Stowers, Bayleigh Dayton and more. We also break down our top 3 for the men and discuss Challengers such as ASAF, Isaac Stout, Ashley Cain, Mike Ross, Victor Arroyo, Marlon Williams, CJ Koegel, Brandon Swift and more (17:00 - 1:15:30). Last, we have a debate to figure out what the official top 3 girls and top 3 guys are going to be for The Challenge Fandom Podcast official Rookies We Want Back list! We've had such a great time with you all during this break and we hope we've kept you entertained and laughing during this long wait for more Challenge. Bad Behaviour is the debut feature film from actor, writer and director Alice Englert, celebrated New Zealand film-maker Jane Campion's daughter. Bad Behaviour stars Ben Whishaw as the spiritual leader of a retreat attended by 40-something Lucy (Jennifer Connelly) who, while seeking enlightenment meets her nemesis in the form of model and DJ Beverly. Meanwhile, Lucy's stunt-performer daughter, Dylan (played by Alice Englert) is in New Zealand working on set. We very soon learn they have a fraught relationship, just as Lucy did with her own mother. There are supporting roles here from Ana Scotney, Marlon Williams, Xana Tang, Robbie Magasiva, Tom Sainsbury - and a cameo from mum. Having premiered at Sundance Film Festival, Bad Behaviour is showing in the New Zealand International Film Festival.
