Highlights: Browns fan sentiment has shifted from despair to anger, with calls for firings and major changes. Terry Pluto argues the 1980s Browns era was defined by consistent success, not just heartbreaking losses like "The Drive." The franchise's identity since 1999 has been a perpetual and unsuccessful search for a quarterback. Why a new stadium will not improve the Browns' on-field performance due to the NFL's salary cap structure. A listener's analogy, endorsed by Pluto, compares a bad offensive line to a bad baseball bullpen that collapses the entire team. The hosts highlight the rare importance of a great offensive line coach, questioning if former coach Bill Callahan would return to the current instability. The loss to the Jets: the "beginning of the end" for head coach Kevin Stefanski? Why the defeat was statistically unprecedented: Since 1950, teams holding opponents under 175 yards with zero turnovers were 225-0 before the Browns' loss. The Browns' special teams have become a glaring liability, allowing an NFL-worst six return touchdowns under coach Bubba Ventrone. A failed fourth-down play against the Jets epitomized the team's dysfunction in both play-calling and execution. Analysis revealed that quarterback play and other factors, not just the O-line, were responsible for nearly half of the sacks allowed. Kevin Stefanski's offense, which once excelled with backup quarterbacks, has severely regressed this season. Terry Pluto fondly remembered the late Lenny Wilkens as a Hall of Fame coach, a great teacher of basketball, and a man of dignity. A new injury to Darius Garland puts pressure on Donovan Mitchell and the current Cavaliers to find alternative offensive schemes. Guardians pitchers Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz have been federally charged in a game-fixing scheme involving manipulating on-field events. The indictment identifies Clase as the instigator who recruited Ortiz for a surprisingly small financial payout. The scandal may cost Clase his $6 million salary for 2025 and two team options worth an additional $20 million. A key unanswered question is whether Clase attempted to recruit other players who may have reported the scheme. A listener has a scenario about a stolen base and the new challenge system in MLB for balls and strikes. What Terry and David think it could mean. Learn more about your ad choices. Lillian King's debut album In Your Long Shadow arrives October 24th via Pronounced Kroog, with its first advance single “Tiber Creek” landing August 26th. Written shortly after the passing of her father, “Tiber Creek” offers a haunting glimpse into the album's emotional landscape, transforming a simple walk across Washington, D.C. into something expansive and meditative. Her father's ritual walks to the hospital along the National Mall, past memorials, monuments, and the invisible flow of Tiber Creek buried beneath the city, anchor the song's vivid imagery. Lillian's voice, warm and mournful, carries a quiet intensity through every line, reflecting on place, memory, and the way certain moments linger long after everything else changes. “Tiber Creek” also marks the beginning of Lillian's collaboration with Spencer Krug, whose indie rock resume needs little introduction—Wolf Parade, Sunset Rubdown, Moonface. Krug, who rarely steps outside his own projects, connected deeply with Lillian's stripped-back performances while on tour together in 2024. Signing her to his label, Pronounced Kroog, was instinctive. That rare co-sign lends weight here, but Lillian's voice carries the story, elevated by her bandmates Robert Salazar (drums) and Nick DePrey (keys), with producer Jack Henry shaping the soundscape. The track leans into mood more than spectacle: dusty drums, upright bass, and creaky piano lines swirl around Lillian's singular vocal tone. The arrangement leaves room for quiet moments to land, capturing the bittersweet ache of mid-winter reflection. This is indie-folk at its most elemental, echoing the timelessness of Bill Callahan or Sharon Van Etten, but with a wind-whipped edge that's entirely Lillian's. For the 20th anniversary of the Smog album, A River Ain't Too Much to Love, we take a detailed look at how it was made. Bill Callahan began recording music under the name Smog in 1988 and releasing music on his own label, Disaster. After signing with Drag City early on, he released a series of albums in the 1990s and continued into the early 2000s. At this point, he was living in Chicago and wanted a change of scenery. After moving to Austin, Texas, he began writing songs for his 11th album. He decided to abandon the Smog name and start using his real name, but Drag City asked him to wait until the next record before making that change. After a two week tour with Jim White on drums and Connie Lovatt on bass, the three of them immediately went into Willie Nelson's studio, Pedernales, to begin recording the album. A River Ain't Too Much to Love was eventually released in 2005. In this episode, Bill Callahan reflects on this period of his life when he was in his late thirties and felt like he wanted to settle down. By moving to Austin and buying a house with a yard, he found himself spending a lot more time in nature, which greatly impacted the songs he was writing. Despite having writer's block initially, his songwriting opened up when he bought a nylon string guitar and taught himself fingerpicking for the first time. This new approach to guitar playing really shaped the song arrangements and how his vocal would come across. Callahan describes how this transitional time in his life inspired him to give up the Smog name and start using his own name to reflect his newfound approach to making music. From the leap of moving somewhere without knowing anyone, to recording as a power trio, to the importance of a good title or central image, to taking inspiration from Mickey Newbury and Johnny Cash, to key overdubs by Joanna Newsom and Thor Harris, to a recording malfunction that lead to barely audible bass, to the lacking nature of waltz time, to a clear sound like a river, we'll hear the stories of how the record came together.

In this lively episode of Monday Night Therapy, Minnie Hunt is joined by Fred Sacco and a vibrant chat community to reflect on former Nebraska football coaches and current Big Ten storylines. The show kicks off with playful banter about vintage Husker gear, before diving into a retrospective on coaches like Scott Frost, Mike Riley, Bo Pelini, and Bill Callahan—where they are now and whether their post-Husker careers redeemed their time in Lincoln. The segment also explores the highs and lows of Nebraska's coaching carousel and the emotional toll of years of “dead money” payouts. Viewers share laughs and vent frustrations over Wisconsin's brutal 2024 schedule and head coach Luke Fickell's uncertain future. Other topics include quarterback rankings—highlighting Dylan Raiola's #3 Big Ten spot—plus chat praise for Garrett Nelson, Tommy Armstrong Jr., and Tommy Frazier's post-football careers. The mood is a mix of nostalgia, gallows humor, and cautious optimism as fans hope Matt Rhule brings stability and success. Special guest Jackson joins late to represent Alabama fandom and draw parallels between Nebraska's rebuilding efforts and Bama's historic transition post-Bear Bryant. The show ends with heartfelt community vibes, dog cameos, and reminders that in Husker Nation, the hunt matters as much as the prize.

NFL Players: Second Acts hosts Peanut Tillman and Roman Harper sit down with legendary Raiders wide receiver Tim Brown for a candid reflection of his Hall of Fame career. Starting with his iconic NFL debut kick return touchdown in 1988, Brown recounts the highs and lows of his 17-year professional campaign -- all but one of which being in silver and black. From vouching to have the team part ways with former coach Bill Callahan to his innate skills as a kick returner, Brown shares anecdotes that are seldom told publicly. The Hall of Famer even speaks of a time when he pleaded with then-Dallas Cowboys WR Michael Irvin in an effort to land with his hometown team. Recorded: May 23rd, 2025 Will Compton and Taylor Lewan hope everyone had a Happy Memorial Day Weekend. To help end it on a high note, they invited Tennessee Titans left guard JC Latham on the bus! Will and Taylor kick things off by addressing Theo Von's kind words about Bussin' with Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson. They also react to Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce's smack talking for the Nebraska vs Cincinnati game, which leads The Boys to break down the new College Football Playoff format, the return of the infamous “Tush Push,” and a sneak peek at the upcoming Dad Combine. Plus, they introduce their new interns, preview this year’s Father’s Day merch drop, and react to New Heights throwing some shade. Then Will and Taylor dive into a monster sit-down with Titans first-round pick JC Latham. From his early days at IMG and choosing Alabama, to raw stories from Kalen DeBoer’s Bama locker room, JC opens up about being part of the first year of NIL, adapting to the NFL, and what it’s really like working with legendary offensive line coach Bill Callahan. He talks about playing against Will Anderson Jr., the transition from left tackle to right tackle, and even responds to rumors about his 40-yard dash time. The guys also hit on Titans’ struggles, Will Levis’ development, expectations for Cam Ward, and how the NFL culture compares to college football. As always, things get weird in the best way—bio hacking, fan questions, and a Bud Light “What Would You Do Anything For?” moment all make an appearance. It's an all-time episode for football junkies and dads alike. Big Hugs, and Tiny Kisses y'all!
