Welcome to the Veterinary Breakroom! Join Katie Berlin, DVM, and Alyssa Watson, DVM, as they discuss pressing issues impacting the veterinary profession. In this episode, Dani Rabwin, DVM, founder and CEO of Ready, Vet, Go, a mentorship program and community for early career veterinarians, joins the podcast to discuss how already-too-busy veterinarians (let's face it, that's all of us) can still provide their own brand of mentorship—not just skills training—for the new doctors in their lives. Dr. Dani's extensive experience with recent graduates and mentors and infectious enthusiasm for vet med will be just the encouragement you need as we enter graduation season. To learn more about Ready, Vet, Go's free online community, click here; to sign up for RVG's May 7 webinar, “So You Hired A New Grad - Now What?” visit this link.Contact:podcast@instinct.vetWhere To Find Us:Website: CliniciansBrief.com/PodcastsYouTube: Youtube.com/@clinicians_briefFacebook: Facebook.com/CliniciansBriefLinkedIn: LinkedIn.com/showcase/CliniciansBrief/Instagram: @Clinicians.BriefX: @CliniciansBriefThe Team:Alyssa Watson, DVM - HostKatie Berlin, DVM - HostAlexis Ussery - Producer & Multimedia SpecialistDisclaimer: This podcast recording represents the opinions of Dr. Alyssa Watson and Dr. Katie Berlin.

Formed in 2015 in the Melbourne suburb of Preston, Melbourne/Naarm's RVG, or Romy Vager Group, blend lush jangling guitar pop with elements of post-punk, goth, and '80s college rock. The RVG project explores a middle ground where tuneful and sophisticated songcraft meets the loose spontaneity of punk and garage. This episode I chat with RVG about the release of their third studio album ‘Brain Worms'. We discussed our guilty pleasure songs, the specificity of the album's track listing, covering Rick Astley and the evolution of the bands recording process from recording their first album live at The Tote, to their recording process today.

Link to bioRxiv paper: http://biorxiv.org/cgi/content/short/2022.10.27.513950v1?rss=1 Authors: Wang, Y., Wang, X., Xie, R., Burger, J. C., Tong, Y., Gong, S. Abstract: CRISPR genome editing has demonstrated great potential to treat the root causes of many genetic diseases, including central nervous system (CNS) disorders. However, the promise of brain-targeted therapeutic genome editing relies on the efficient delivery of biologics bypassing the blood-brain barrier (BBB), which represents a substantial challenge in the development of CRISPR therapeutics. In this study, we created a library of GSH-responsive silica nanocapsules (SNCs) and screened them for brain targeting via systemic delivery of nucleic acids and CRISPR genome editors. In vivo studies demonstrated that systemically delivered SNCs conjugated with glucose and RVG peptide under glycemic control can efficiently bypass the intact BBB, enabling brain-wide delivery of various biologics (mRNA, Cas9 mRNA/sgRNA, and Cas9/sgRNA ribonucleoprotein) targeting both exogenous genes (i.e., Ai14 stop cassette) and disease-relevant endogenous genes (i.e., App and Th genes) in Ai14 reporter mice and wild-type mice, respectively. In particular, we observed up to 28% neuron editing via systemic delivery of Cre mRNA in Ai14 mice, up to 6.1% amyloid precursor protein (App) gene editing (resulting in 19.1% reduction in the expression level of intact APP), and up to 3.9% tyrosine hydroxylase (Th) gene editing (resulting in 30.3% reduction in the expression level of TH) in wild-type mice. This versatile SNC nanoplatform may offer a novel strategy for the treatment of CNS disorders including Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and Huntington's disease. Copy rights belong to original authors. Your Heard Tell for Wednesday, September 14th, 2022 is turning down the noise of the news cycle and getting to the information we need to discern the time we live in by cutting through two ridiculous trending news stories - golf course zoom photography and the Queen's funeral - involving former president Trump that are a waste of everyone's time, unless you are are news media and need the Trump name to move numbers. We skip the caterwauling and spinning over the Consumer Price Index and inflation numbers by reading the full release and source information from the US Bureau of Labor and Statistics including year-to-year comparisons and trends on more than just the headline making numbers. Our guest today is Eugene Ralph, Jr. a Young Voices contributor and economist and joins to discuss his piece "A Recession Is Necessary, Though Unwelcome." Eugene talks the necessity of the economy having ups and downs, how the metrics and debate over "is it/isn't it a recession" miss the point and are often wrong, infalted, or don't tell the whole story. Eugene also talks bureaucrac, corruption, housing policy, and all sorts of economic issues and the cultural and political discourse surrounding them, plus his architectural hopes for King Charles III. Also, we talk the continuing movement in numbers among Hispanic voters in Texas in the RVG and border communities, and how politics is still local even with a hot button national issue. Finally, we end the show talking about people who talk to their plants, and how it may actually not be a bad thing at all.All that and more on this Wednesday edition of Heard Tell.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/heard-tell/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Julia Jacklin and RVG reprennent "Army Of Me" de Björk.
The Will of The People". La nouveauté du jour : The National (feat. Your Heard Tell show for Monday, June 20th, 2022 is turning down the news cycle noise and getting to the information we need on a perfect example of how headline writing and SEO optimization is manipulating the news and aiming more for your emotions and reactions than informing, we'll walk through how the noise of the news cycle really works using a Fox News story about Disney and a child sex predator sting. Meanwhile, in Uvalde, the horrible story of Robb Elementary just keeps getting worse, as the City of Uvalde and Uvalde police are lawyering up to prevent practically all information and video of and surrounding the school shooting and police response from becoming public, we'll discuss it. Our guest Garion Frankel returns to Heard Tell to talk about Latino culture, demographics, "LatinX", and how identity doesn't always fit neatly onto a government form or political/cultural debate. Garion uses his own family's example and explains how the Chicano movement changed not only a region, but a group of people, and his own family. Plus, Garion gets into the political and cultural changes within Hispanics and Latinos in places like the Rio Grande Valley, and why election results like the recent Texas Special Election for the 34th district flipping for the first time 150 years is surprising if you pay attention to facts on the ground in the RVG, and not the "demographics is destiny" rhetoric of past years. Also, we check back in with Sri Lanka, where the fuel and food crisis has gotten so bad the government is ordering work from home since there is no public transit, we talk about the real life example of a government that mismanaged its resources and money to tragic results for the people of a country. In our good news segment, how much would you pay for a lunch? One famous businessman has been auctioning off lunches for years for charity, and the latest one was an eye-popping number that brings millions to a great cause. Sometime around 2011, the park lost its small trees, leaving only one surviving tree and four other square patches of grass amidst the concrete where other trees used to stand. Even more depressing, there are now 4x4 wooden posts in the patches of grass with a small Parks Department logo attached, marking where trees used to be planted as far back as the 1950s.
