Known for his commitment to the game and strong mental focus over a record 387 games with the club, he's now sharing his life lessons from two decades of high performance in the new book 'The Power Within'. In this episode, Travis discusses how, while his father's death fuelled his success mindset, it was ultimately exhausting and broke him down. Conflicted: 7/7 The Inside Story is now live to all our dear listeners! New episodes of this 6 part Conflicted special documentary series will release every Monday. But if you want to listen to them all right now and ad-free, you'll have to sign up to the Conflicted Community. All the information you need to sign up is on this link: https://conflicted.supportingcast.fm/ -- When a horrific terrorist attack against children spawned some of the most violent riots in recent UK history, it revealed a sinister undercurrent of racial, religious, and multicultural tensions flowing just beneath the surface of British society. Fuelled by voices from the Far-Right, the riots saw a mosque burned and a hotel housing asylum seekers set on fire. But the killer, Axel Rudukabana, was neither muslim or an immigrant. He was British - and known to the security services as a risk. So what does this attack reveal about the future of terror attacks in the United Kingdom? And why was this attack met with violence rather than anguish? What's changed in the fabric of our society? And what can we do about it? In this final episode of 7/7: The Inside Story we explore the existential questions of British identity raised by this series, culminating in an exclusive interview with former Minister of Security, and long time Conflicted listener, Conservative MP Tom Tugendhat. Conflicted - 7/7 The Inside Story is produced by Message Heard for Wondery. Hosted by Thomas Small. This series was written and produced by Harry Stott and Leo Danczak. As the popularity of the United States Democratic Party reaches historic lows, author Joan Williams argues that the party's elitism is still pushing people away. Williams is the founder of the Equality Action Center at the College of Law at the University of California at San Francisco and author of Outclassed: How the Left Lost the Working Class and How to Win Them Back. She tells host Steve Clemons that, unless the Democrats realign themselves with the people, they will continue to founder and voters will continue to flock to populists. Brazil is home to over 4 million trans and non-binary people, the largest transgender population recorded anywhere. As the first country on the continent to legalise gay marriage, Brazil is seen as one of the most advanced in terms of LGBT rights. Yet it is also the country where the most trans people in the world are killed and raped. Fuelled by far-right discourse, evangelical fundamentalism is gaining ground. A number of churches, such as Libertos por Deus (Liberated by God) and its pastor Flavio Amaral, are setting up highly controversial conversion therapies. Our correspondent reports.

On her 16th birthday she had hopes of completing A levels and going to university however her parents had other plans. Instead they travelled abroad to Pakistan, and Nazreen was married to her mother's cousin (her uncle), someone she knew nothing about. She recalls asking her mother if she could say no and her answer was “no, your grandad gave his word” and that was that. Soon after her marriage, her mother told her that she was to do whatever her husband wanted and that if she refused s*x the devil would curse her all night. Nazreen soon became pregnant and gave birth to her daughter at age 17. The following 12 years, Nazreen spent fighting for freedom, freedom to work, freedom to have phone and freedom to wear what she wanted to wear. Fuelled with anger at the end of her twelve-year marriage, she could see how religion and culture shaped her parents' choices and world view, and how the teachings of Islam demanded the total subjugation of women. Nazreen's parents stopped talking to her after her divorce and so she rebuilt her life as a single parent. Her experience only confirmed what she had now grown to accept in that Islam was designed by men for men. Divorced women were deemed as used goods, a women's identity and personhood reduced to her reproductive parts and womb. Since her divorce she's been actively engaged in local politics, completed her degree and runs her own business. Now an exMuslim, Nazreen recently has come out as an atheist, speaking out against the generational religious ab*se .
Behind the skyscrapers and luxurious resorts of the United Arab Emirates, a silent health crisis is looming. According to a study published in The Lancet, the prevalence of overweight and obesity among adult men in the UAE is set to rise from 84 percent in 2021 to 94 percent by 2050, placing the country among the worst affected in the world. This epidemic is fuelled by unbalanced eating habits, a growing reliance on home deliveries and a sedentary lifestyle. The consequences are serious: diabetes, hypertension and cardiovascular disease. The Emirati authorities are taking action, in particular by targeting younger generations, but significant progress still needs to be made. Our team on the ground reports.

Send us a textTeacher's Appreciation AND Mother's Day in the same week?! Boy what a packed show! Each year we highlight amazing teachers that help shape our children's lives every single day. This year we welcomed back Mr. Greg from The Kindergarten Smorgasboard! This time he is an AUTHOR! We are so happy for him as he starts out this exciting new portion of his platform! Meet Greg Smedley-Warren, affectionately known as “Mr. Greg,” an experienced, current kindergarten educator and the creative mind behind The Kindergarten Smorgasboard. With an impressive 19-year teaching journey, Greg's expertise spans various grade levels, including a brief stint in fifth grade and two years in second grade. However, it was a reluctant transition to kindergarten that unveiled his true passion and calling. Never wanting to teach kindergarteners, Greg's journey took a turn when he discovered an instant connection on the very first day of kindergarten. From that moment on, he knew kindergarten was his calling. Fuelled by his dedication to his students, Greg has proudly remained in the kindergarten classroom for 16 years, continually inspired by the boundless energy and curiosity of his students. Mr. Greg posted something that went absolutely VIRAL and he and his husband have not looked back since! To learn more about Mr. Greg go to thekindergartensmorgasboard.com.__________________________________________________________________________________________________Then later we celebrate the mamas out there. I cannot imagine what yall go through! So strong, so resilient. I could only wish to be as much. For a couple of years now at nolapapa.com, we have introduced our small group of writers that help to showcase the complexities of society. Well... one of those writers comes a sassy chica named Becky Balfe. Becky, Becky, Becky. Boy oh boy. This one here, yall. She's a doozy. Well more specially - my original podcast cohost. But even before that, she was an editor for a GIANT platform called lovewhatmatter.com. She reached out to me to write an article that went freaking viral. And then forward, we've annoyed each other ever since! I love Beck. She is the model of resiliency. But what really shines is our ability to be the best damn mom on this planet. Her son is 13 now and they live their BEST LIVES let me tell you. Living with Lupus and ongoing health issues, Becky is an exemplary mom, cat lover, and human. I am so grateful the universe catapulted our paths to align. I asked Becky to write another article in addition to being a guest this week on the show. And she done blew my damn mind. She came out the damn closet!!!! AND I was the first person she came out to! Unbeknownst to me! Love you, Beck. And to all the other mama's- including my 3 moms.... Happy Mother's Day and I love you!!To read Becky's new article check it out here: https://nolapapa.com/beckys-big-apple-mothers-day/Thank you to our family of amazing sponsors! For centuries, ayahuasca has been a sacred plant for the Shipibo-Konibo peoples of the Peruvian Amazon. Part medicine, part spiritual ceremony, ayahuasca and other plant medicines are revered practices. But in recent years, a boom in Western interest in psychedelics has started to reshape ayahuasca ceremonies and practise. Fuelled by celebrity endorsements, a new wave of tourists are heading to purpose-built resorts in the Peruvian jungle to take ayahuasca, guided by shamans from the Shipibo-Konibo tribes. In this episode of Heart and Soul, reporter Janak Rogers travels to the Peruvian Amazon to explore this so-called ‘psychedelic renaissance'. From candlelit jungle ceremonies to bustling tourist strips, Rogers uncovers the allure of ayahuasca for Westerners seeking help and healing. But as the ayahuasca boom transforms local communities, challenges arise: the rise of unscrupulous shamans, the commercialisation of Indigenous knowledge, and risks faced by vulnerable travellers.
