Ephesians 3:1'For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles...'Many believe that in Ephesians 3:1, Paul began praying the second of his prayers for these Asian believers. However, his prayer was interrupted – not by an external distraction, but by a compelling truth that monopolized his thoughts. He calls it ‘the mystery of Christ', and he only returns to pray in vs 14. “For this reason, I bow my knee…” Paul calls the mystery “the mystery of Christ,” and verses 2-13 unveil the mystery as a living entity —a new humanity, a community of hope irresistibly united with Christ. It is the church. This passage challenges us not to give up on being the church (the body, the bride of Christ), but like Paul to invest unreservedly in God's eternal program for her and through her. There is no room in Ephesians 3 for casual, cool, or critical attitudes. Haphazard involvement is not an option. Only wholehearted participation honours the extraordinary mystery of God, planned in eternity, achieved through Christ, and made known to us and “the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places through Christ and His apostles.” Vs 9, 10. Dion David explores Psalm 24 and the truth that everything—seen and unseen—belongs to God. Yet he still draws near. Through Jesus, He opened the way to his presence. “I'm just trusting God on this one”, we say as we madly formulate a plan that we calculate should get the outcome we're striving for… Trusting God is easy to say and much harder to do. As humans, our natural tendency is to trust ourselves and our own understanding, and to seek our own will, but this isn't the call for followers of Jesus. If you enjoyed this sermon please consider subscribing.CONNECT WITH US Instagram: www.instagram.com/humeridgechurch Facebook: www.facebook.com/humeridgechurch YouTube: www.youtube.com/humeridgechurchHave you made a decision to follow Jesus? Jesus makes it clear that following Him comes at a great cost—denying ourselves, taking up our cross, and surrendering our lives to Him. Yet, this cost is nothing compared to the reward: true life, eternal hope, and the joy of being with Christ forever. In Matthew 16:24–28 and Romans 12:1, we see that discipleship is a call to sacrifice, but also a promise of something far greater than we could ever imagine. In this season of transition, we're reminded from Joshua 1:9 that God's presence hasn't paused — He is with us and going before us. Now is not a time to sit back, but to press in: to pray, encourage one another, and continue being the Church. Let's walk in step with the Spirit and remain faithful in the in-between. The best is yet to come — because God is leading us.If you enjoyed this sermon please consider subscribing.CONNECT WITH US Instagram: www.instagram.com/humeridgechurch Facebook: www.facebook.com/humeridgechurch YouTube: www.youtube.com/humeridgechurchHave you made a decision to follow Jesus? The words of the Old Testament Prophet Micah should be very familiar to us as a church community - We have them before us as we enter the auditorium. But he's already made it plain how to live, what to do, what God is looking for in men and women. It's quite simple, this is what he requires of you -“Act Justly. Love Mercy and Walk Humbly with your God."This week, we will revisit this very important teaching that has helped us as a church. And while it sounds quite simple, it is in practice a constant yet life-giving challenge to return to over and over, ensuring that we do not forget what He is looking for in us. Ross will return to these words that have helped and challenged him, and with so many of you having worked them out in practical terms. "Because a victorious but unsuffering God is not good news"-Tyler Staton. During His time on earth, Jesus didn't take shortcuts or easy ways out. Jesus revealed a God like no other - a God who would weep, a God who would grieve and a God who would bleed. And he showed us a God worth trusting.Could it be true that God has felt the darkness and helplessness, and He promises to redeem our suffering? And if we hold this to be true, what difference does it make when we find ourselves in the storms of life?

Have you ever looked around and thought to yourself, ‘This isn't how things should be… It's not right.'? You'd be right to think that. In the brokenness of this world, we long (or as Romans says, we ‘groan') for the world to be made right again – and it will be made right again. This is our hope. And it's this hope that helps us to persevere.

Often times the walk of faith can feel overwhelming or like a bit of a slog. We will be looking at the book of Exodus to see how an understanding of the Character of God shapes us and our ability to persevere. We will look at the boldness of Moses's request to see God's glory and God's kindness in showing his goodness. Each of us has a race set before us, we are not in charge of how that race looks but we do have a choice - run it with perseverance. The author of Hebrews wrote, 'And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith'.

The second coming of Jesus has been a contentious topic in Christianity, which has led some to shy away from it altogether. This week at HumeRidge, we will discuss what Paul says about the second coming in his first letter to the Thessalonians. We will see that the promise of the second coming should be our hope and encouragement to face death, to face life, and to face Christ.

Two people walked into church, but only one was in the ‘right' before God… Exploring the parable of the Pharisee and Tax Collector we will be reminded of the grace of God that underpins everything we are about at HumeRidge.

The mission Jesus gave us—to make disciples of all nations—is too big for human strength alone. But we're not meant to do it alone; God has always empowered His people by His Spirit, and He still does today. The Holy Spirit clothes us with power, pushes us outward in mission, and fills us with boldness to bring hope to a broken world—this is our calling, and the time is now.If you enjoyed this sermon please consider subscribing. The role of women in the church has unfortunately become one of controversy in some places. He also spent ten years as CEO of Compassion Australia. Since then Tim has been involved in coaching and consulting and is currently the Chairman of Council, of Churches of Christ Queensland. 2. In a world that often feels complex, simple faith may be more relevant than ever. Following God isn't about rules, regulations, or a list of “have-tos” and “can't dos.” We have a tendency to complicate what is meant to be simple. Yet, Jesus provided us with a clear and straightforward guide for how we should live His way. Let's dive into that together with guest speaker from Churches of Christ Queensland – Ben Pearson.Ben lives in Townsville, North Queensland, and serves as a regional engagement partner for Churches of Christ Queensland. He has led two churches as both Lead and Senior Pastor and enjoys motorbikes and water sports. In a world more connected than ever, many still feel deeply alone. Church was never meant to be done solo. At HumeRidge, we're exploring what it means to truly walk with one another, reflecting the love and character of Jesus. 2. Luke 5 records an encounter between the disciples of Jesus and a group of Pharisees – they are at the home of Levi the tax collector where the Pharisees complained bitterly to Jesus' disciples, “Why do you (mainly aimed at Jesus) eat and drink with such scum?” Not very gracious or what we would expect to come from the mouths of those considered religious leaders. Jesus drew criticism and condemnation often because of who he sat with , ate with and those who seemed drawn to him and his gospel. As we reconsider and are open to be reminded of the things that should matter in the life of our church, we should not miss this example from the one we seek to follow. Join us this Sunday morning – as we look at what Luke had to say and consider carefully whether anyone is left out, forgotten, not in and what we may do to guard against this.If you enjoyed this sermon please consider subscribing.CONNECT WITH US Instagram: www.instagram.com/humeridgechurch Facebook: www.facebook.com/humeridgechurch YouTube: www.youtube.com/humeridgechurchHave you made a decision to follow Jesus? In the first week of this Prayer series, Ross challenged us to engage with the Lord's Prayer daily—not just to recite it, but to reflect on its meaning and deepen our understanding of why Jesus taught this model of prayer. Tim Keller once said, “The Lord's Prayer may be the single set of words spoken more often than any other in the history of the world.” in this sermon, Graham, having taken on this challenge and incorporated this into his daily prayer life, dwells on these words, seeking to lead us into a deeper relationship with God.If you enjoyed this sermon please consider subscribing.CONNECT WITH USInstagram: www.instagram.com/humeridgechurchFacebook: www.facebook.com/humeridgechurchYouTube: www.youtube.com/humeridgechurchHave you made a decision to follow Jesus? When the people of Israel were exiled to Babylon, they received a surprising and challenging message from God through the prophet Jeremiah. Despite their desired rebellion, Jeremiah's letter calls them to settle in the city, seek its welfare, and pray for its peace. Instead of resisting or withdrawing, they were called to live faithfully and bless the place where they had been sent. In this sermon, Ross Savill unpacks this message from Jeremiah. By drawing parallels to our lives as followers of Jesus, we are challenged to live faithfully as "resilient exiles", engaging in our communities with love and purpose. When Austrian philosopher Ivan Illich was asked about the most revolutionary way to change society, he answered, "Neither revolution nor reformation can ultimately change a society, rather you must tell a new powerful tale, one so persuasive that it sweeps away the old myths and becomes the preferred story, one so inclusive that it gathers all the bits of our past and our present into a coherent whole, one that even shines some light into our future so that we can take the next step…If you want to change a society, then you have to tell an alternative story. In this sermon Neale Proellocks explores this concept, and highlights that the alternative narrative is God's story and it includes an invitation to find your place in it.
