Carly, Katherine and I sat down and recapped this last year of the podcast and of Miss Pursuit. We highlight some of the podcasts that truly taught us lessons and brought up subjects we wanted to know more about. The great thing is that we don't always agree on certain things but we respect the heck out of each other and lift each other up in our differences.  This season has been an amazing one for Miss Pursuit and I have been honored to be a part of it. As I take a step back from hosting the podcast I cannot wait to see how Miss Pursuit grows and I cannot wait to be a supportive part of the community in other ways. Hunter or Huntress...What do women call themselves that hunt? What connotation does this title carry? How derogatory can it be? What does our hunting community feel about it vs those outside of it? Is the US the main perpetrator for the negative view? Social media and the internet have a huge hand in the downward spiral of it, but could it be the key to bringing it back to its finest glory? These are all questions that we tackle in this episode. As controversial as it is when did it become a negative description of the word? Is there hope for bringing it back to the powerful and strong word that it was when describing our ancestors? This conversation is an important one not because it can and will fix it, but maybe just maybe it will encourage one woman or girl to find pride in the fact that 95% of the women in our community are a positive light for this title. That the small percentage of women who bring a bad name to it should stop getting the attention they don't deserve! That is our responsibility.

Samantha Gibson hails from Michigan. She grew up more as an outside observer verses a participant in hunting with the family. As she got older it became something she was drawn to.  This conversation brings us into her world of becoming a part of the hunting crew, how important the mentors in her life are, and her first deer as a bow harvest.Sam also gives us some amazing recipes...one I have never even heard of but I cannot wait to try. Jessica Haavisto also known as @outdoors_lady on Instagram is a contributing writer for Miss Pursuit. We were able to have a great conversation about her lucky draw of an elk tag last season and this one coming up! Her archery bull that she was able to harvest and how that went down.
