I know you're feeling pressured to be Ramadan-ready. I mean it's this week ladies!!! Are your meal plans ready, have you deep-cleaned your house, have you decorated your living room, are you ready spiritually, mentally, and physically??? Phew I just got tired thinking it all down. Listen ladies... it's nice to be prepared and to make Ramadan special for ourselves and our families. Just don't do it at: The expense of your finances, losing your cool and being grumpy, feeling pressured to do it a certain way because everyone is saying so. Some of the things I'm doing is simply...Using the decorations I already have. Then letting my kids decorate the way they want because it's not about how our house looks, it's whether my kids enjoy the moment and feel the festivity of Ramadan. I'm making a very simple meal plan and getting the groceries I need when I can. It's ok to even do this week by week in Ramadan. I'm planning to have a casual halaqa with my kids every day inshallah. I've already discussed the expectations with them like... The routine and the times we will wake up and break fast, that they will not be playing certain video games or watch TV that's not educational, that we will be studying more Deen and how, and implementing light exercise into our day. Especially this year, it's going to be trying on us due to the circumstances. So if we maintain a very simple Ramadan, we can make it more focused on the things we never accomplish or finish. I'm rooting for you by making dua for your Ramadan preps to be stress free, mama.

Heard of having a halaqa with your own kids? I do it! A halaqa is an Islamic circle of learning and it's an effective way to gain knowledge of the deen. But how do you implement it with your kids? Let me tell you how I do it, even with 4 teens who moan and groan.
The chore system with kids - it's painful to say the least! I've finally realized that there's no easy way to handle our ad a mom. It simply comes down to 2 options which I discuss in this episode. I wish someone had sat me down and told me it was going to be like this, it would have saved me a lot of frustration. That's why I want you to know the the reality of getting your kids to do chores, especially with older kids and teens. And maybe, just maybe you will find some peace in dealing with this aspect of parenthood. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/muslimommy/message
It can be so annoying for a mom of older kids, especially a mom of a few kids close in age, to get them doing simple duties. Tasks like chores and picking up after themselves become sick a headache! Even using a reward system causes complications and you wonder why can't life... Just. Be. Simple. However, I've discovered a form of pressure to put on the dawdler kids who don't complete their tasks and get distracted a lot. Listen to this episode and find out my little secret that's been helping me get some of my slow pokes to finish up their duties with everyone else!
Teens - they are another story and topic we can delve into for hours. And I will inshallah, in my next season. This podcast will relay to you how my spouse and I use a tactic that gets our stubborn teen to budge somewhat. Hey, some is better than non! It has worked for us quite a few times, we just happened upon the idea one day, went with it and there was success. So we kinda use it when we don't have another choice and it works most of the time. Of course, use it wisely and light heartedly, it's not meant to be tough love or anything that affects your child in a negative way. It's simply a tactic to try where no harm is done.
Getting our kids to do certain things that are required of them, or tasks that we feel are important for them to do, is no easy endeavor. Our kids are either not onboard, or willing to accept what we say is best for them sometimes. That's why, after 17 years of being a parent, I've figured out certain tweaks to make my parenting journey a little easier. Listen in to this podcast if you need my #1 secret to get my older kids to graciously accept certain tasks I need them to do. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/muslimommy/message
Are you tired of your older kids making you late all the time? Does the chaos and the stress of leaving the house with kids pain you? Well, listen to my #1 secret for combating that frustration! I've nailed it and have been using this method for over 2 years already. My family knows that this mama ain't waiting no more in agony for them to get moving. Listen to find out what's my simple solution.
We all want peaceful homes filled with sakina i.e. tranquility. That's not always easy with kids and especially a big family and boisterous teens! Then there's the arguments, debates, opinionated teens, and sibling rivalry. But, I keep my head above water as a mom of 6 by implementing a gift from our Creator. It eliminates chaos and turmoil in the home and is assured to chase the shayateen away for days. Do you know the secret? Great if you do! If not, then listen in and you'll find out what it is.
As I got older and became a more responsible parent, my self doubt increased. Then too, my bad experiences, pain, and toxic friendships made me feel it even more. I knew I had to overcome this as it was stunting my growth. Alhumdulillah, Allah gives us the cure to everything and for self doubt, there is an amazing one.
