Heath Lambert addresses a question from a youth minister about how to guide young Christians seeking "closure" after relationships end. Discover how to recognize what people are really asking for beneath this vague term, and respond with biblical wisdom.TIMESTAMPS:0:00 Introduction and this week's topic on relationship closure0:35 Context: Youth minister's question about teenage breakups1:37 The problem with "closure" as a vague, undefined term2:35 How to help someone seeking closure: Ask questions and apply Scripture3:32 Category #1: Closure when mistreatment has occurred4:40 Biblical perspective: Reconciliation, not just "closure"5:50 Category #2: Desiring to recover a relationship or understand rejection6:52 The painful reality of unrequited feelings8:41 Finding security in God's love (Ephesians 1:7-8) rather than human approval10:02 Category #3: Confusion about the relationship seeking clarityKEY POINTS:- "Closure" is an ill-defined term that means different things to different people- When someone seeks closure, ask specific questions to understand what they're really seeking- Three common categories of what people mean by "closure":1. Mistreatment that needs addressing - When sin has occurred in the relationship- Biblical category: Reconciliation through confession and forgiveness- May be complicated by circumstances (especially if dangerous behavior occurred)2.Unreciprocated affection - When one person likes the other more- Reality: We must learn to respond maturely to rejection- No amount of "closure conversations" can change someone's feelings- Growth comes through finding security in God's lavish love (Ephesians 1:7-8)3. Genuine confusion seeking clarity - Understanding what happened- May be legitimate or may mask the desire for reconciliation- Can be appropriate when seeking growth-oriented feedback- Must approach with others-centered love, not selfish motivesSubmit your questions for future episodes to markedbyGrace@fbcjax.comSCRIPTURE REFERENCES:Ephesians 1:7-8 - "In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight."

174 This is a slightly revised episode, updated and re-released because of its importance! Here's to not tolerating mistreatment, and how to begin the process of influencing your partner to treat you best! As modern women, we've been encouraged to not let ourselves be “doormats” in our relationship with our significant other. And we want to be strong, to not tolerate criticism or unkind treatment, and to stand up for the respect we deserve. All of which is so important to have a healthy loving marriage, especially as a sensitive person. But sometimes we do this in a way that actually makes us feel even more walked all over, more like a doormat--and in more pain than ever. So how do we stop being a doormat for REAL? Listen in to find out how.Hint: it has to do with understanding what we can control and what we cannot ...and then learning how to control what we ourselves have dominion over--which is our own selves….and becoming Un-walk-over-able!Even if your partner is sometimes unkind, uncool, and disrespectful, you can put an end to feeling like a doormat-- without FIGHTING, and with dignity, self-containment, confidence, and rooted in love for all involved. In this episode I break down the specifics of what this entails and get you started on the path to feeling strong, empowered, respected, and being treated with the kindness, care, and love you deserve.SHOW NOTES:Check out The Stop Taking It So Personally Course, a self-paced course to feel more love and less hurt -- and help you be best positioned to effectively advocate for the loving care you want from your spouse. Next, we analyze why a seemingly local fender-bender turned into a microcosm demonstrating the Chinese Communist Party's mistreatment of its veterans. And finally, Taiwanese President Lai Ching Te used a recent interview to turn the tables on Chinese land annexation policies by citing Chinese claims over Russian land. The double standard has led to suspicious silence from the CCP.

Koa Johnson steps Behind The Rope. If that name sounds familiar to you it is because he is the designer that The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City's Jen Shah was seen berating in the leaked viral video way back when. Koa's name has resurfaced recently in relation to Monica Garcia and Reality Von Tease. Were the signs there? Is this chat foreshadowing several years in the making? Koa starts at the beginning explaining how, where, when, and why he came to work for RHOSLC's Jen Shah. Koa details what their working relationship was like as designer and official Shah Squad member which, if you have seen the video, you know was not all that pleasant. Speaking of the viral video, Koa chats about when it was taken, what caused Jen Shah to lose her sh&t, who else was in the room and, whether this type of behavior was a common occurrence, and just who does he think leaked the video to the media. Koa explains the circumstances surrounding the end of his employment with Jen, why he never spoke out about their working relationship before, the long term effects their time together has had on him, what he would like to say to Jen and his recommendations to Bravo and her fellow RHOSLC cast members going forward in regards to Jen. We share this never before publicly aired chat today with the one and only Koa Johnson. @designerkojo @behindvelvetrope @davidyontef BONUS & AD FREE EPISODES Available at - www.patreon.com/behindthevelvetrope BROUGHT TO YOU BY: 310 NUTRITION - 310nutrition.com (50% Off Up To $100 w/ Code Velvetrope on the Best Hydration, All-in-One Shakes & Refreshing Lemonade Mixes) INDEED - indeed.com/velvet (Seventy Five Dollar $75 Sponsored Job Credit To Get Your Jobs More Visibility) BUBLY - bubly.com (Introducing Bubly Burst - Sparkling Water with an Extra Burst of Fruit Flavor, an Extra Burst of Fun.
