This is the podcast for women to come together, not to compare or compete but to celebrate each other and strengthen one-another in the Lord and in His Word. We all have different roles but all of these roles do not define us, they are our assignments. So, we link arms and build a community of women who follow Christ, live as women of God and work as ambassadors for Jesus. Sisters, we are on the same team, a team owned, selected, and coached by God Himself. Through the Bible, God gives us His clear guidance on how we can build up our fellow teammates. In this episode, we talk about two primary things - secrets to healthy friendships and relationships. This is part 1. Listen in. A lot of women feel less than, defeated, minimized, diminished or are prevented from going further and farther in their God-given design. We strengthen the hand of the local church in women discipleship, crossing denominational, social and generational boundaries, by teaching them God’s precepts, training God’s people and testifying of God’s power. This is important because women have important roles in shaping the culture of home, school, workplace, and community to be more Christlike.

Success is not a comparison of what we have done with what others have done. It is coming up to the level of our best, making the most of our abilities and possibilities. Our workplace is not a neutral zone, it is a battle zone. Every day the good and evil, the Kingdom of God and the kingdom of Satan are coming in conflict. We should know who our real enemy is. Listen in. CONNECT: www.rescuingmondays.com IG/Pinterest/FB: @rescuingmondays
We are called to act in humility and have a teachable spirit rather than have an attitude of moral superiority. When I am tempted – and believe me, it happens all the time – to put on airs or look down on someone with whom I am working, I am jolted into reality when the truth that it is only by the grace of God and nothing but the grace of God sweeps off my prideful heart. It is a good and desirable thing to have work that fulfils us. There is nothing inherently wrong about pursuing a great job, but we must remember that it is not necessary for God’s will to be accomplished in our lives. What is necessary is that we are formed into greater Christlikeness in our work. Connect: IG| FB: @rescuingmondays Blog: rescuingmondays.com
We must always remember in our hearts and minds that our work, though difficult and challenging, is one of God’s main means for our spiritual growth and transformation. Work is where perseverance, proven character and hope are deeply forged in our lives. Connect: @rescuingmondays | rescuingmondays.com @emmylouimandotcom | emmylouiman.com
The thing is, God not only wants to join us in our work but to make us increasingly aware of His presence while we work. Even while doing the most mundane tasks, we can enjoy fellowship with God and practice His presence. How? Let me give you two ways... Web: rescuingmondays.com IG: @rescuingmondays FB: @rescuingmondays
Our work is a gift. Like the good gifts of education, marriage, friendship, leisure and family, our work influences in great measure the persons we are and the persons we are becoming. Daily we are being formed by the work we do, the people we rub shoulders with, and the skills we acquire. Work is one of the places where we are spiritually formed. So, whether you recognize it or not, your work is shaping you. IG: @rescuingmondays FB: @rescuingmondays Web: rescuingmondays.com
What is the value of the mundane things we do? How do they give our lives significance? It is walking through life with Jesus Christ by faith that makes everything we do have eternal value. Our walk will not be in vain if we take all the learning and the character that has been developed in all the work we have done in this life into the future. IG: @rescuingmondays
The work that we do now matters more than we often realize. Heaven is much more than merely a beautiful place to eternally chill out. Our time here on earth is a preparation for an eternity of activity and creativity in the new heavens and the new earth. Our work matters not only now but also for eternity. IG: @rescuingmondays Web: rescuingmondays.com FB: @rescuingmondays
Without knowing Christ, you and I will never experience the life for which we were created. Without knowing Christ, our work will never be all that God intended for it to be. Without knowing the One who created work, our work will never be fulfilling. The good news of work is that we can be transformed and as we are transformed, our work can also be transformed. A large stewardship of our career or calling in the workplace is faithfully showing up every day no matter how we feel, whether we like our present jobs or not. When we show up we demonstrate to others around us our good in and through our work, we show that we are responsible enough to not be moved by feelings because, trust me, our feelings cannot be relied on, most often than not. Our jobs matter to God because He is the One who created and ordained us for those specific roles in life. None are more spiritual than others. We determine, daily, through our thoughts and words and actions, whether we choose to honor him through our work. And we can only begin to honor Him in the mundane when we truly know that we are called to a relationship with Him not a relationship to our work or our workplace. Even Jesus learned a trade and worked with his hands. He was a craftsman, a carpenter. If any person could have been exempted from daily labor it would have been him. Yet Jesus worked in his community like the rest of us, and in doing this he validated the significance and dignity of everyday, ordinary work. When you get up and go to work you are following in the footsteps of your Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. Bringing God to work is the best career decision you will ever make. So, how do we bring God to work? Can we bring glory to God today stocking shelves, fashion designing, gardening, trying to earn our commission, re-organizing the company, or rocking your baby to sleep? Yes, you can. Start with these two very practical strategies.
Today is the start of a brand new season. Welcome to season 2, episode 12 of Rescuing Mondays podcast. Each week we will talk about finding meaning and significance in the work that we do. In season 2 of Rescuing Mondays, I want to explore practically and Biblically how we should behave as employees who have experienced God in our lives. Season 2 is about the Christian employee. It would be a mistake to think that Christians should quit their jobs and become Pastors, missionaries or full-time church workers if God has not called you to be any of these. The so-called secular vocation is not bad, it is simply strategic. There’s 100% nothing wrong with this but Christians living only with Christians and working only with Christians would not accomplish God’s whole purpose in the world. Making sure you enjoy your work or having a meaningful career isn’t your company’s job. It is yours. Rescuing Monday is not your organization’s job. It is yours. We – not our company – are responsible for our attitude. What happens each day at work doesn’t get to determine our attitude, we do. Attitude is a decision and it’s one that we have to make every day. It can be improved and it starts with us owning it. You determine your attitude, not your day, not a job, not a situation. You. Own. It. This is how we build a career, not just work a job. Find me on instagram @emmylouiman and at emmylouiman.com

Still in the Stewardship Series, Jabez and I talk about discovering your talents, gift, calling or purpose in your life and how to take good care of it. Being a good steward of the talents and skills the Lord Jesus Christ has given us is reflective of our appreciation to our Creator. We share our own experiences, how we discovered what we're good at and how we stay secure and not compare what we can and can't do with others can and can't do. We have identified the ways you can discover your talents as well as the ways to be good stewards of it. One of the things that Jabez and I have emphasized is that your talents are made to be shared not only to benefit yourself. But, as usual, you have to listen to the conversation to know what these are. May you find the time listening our our podcasts worth the while.
Still in the Stewardship Series, Jabez and I talk about being mindful of our time. Being a good steward of the time that we have in our hands is reflective of our appreciation to our Creator. This episode is especially for single people but even if you are married, you might glean some young adult wisdom in our conversation that you can also apply in your married life. We talk about time suckers and how it affects our productivity at any given day. We have identified three of the most common time suckers and we have also shared steps how to limit our exposure to these time suckers. But you have to listen to the conversation to know what these are. As always, here are the links to some of the things we mentioned in the episode: Pomodoro Technique Journaling Sage Future Me May you find the time listening our our podcasts worth the while.
This week, Jabez and I kick off our first topic for a new series - Stewardship. We talk about what stewardship is, in our own opinion, and how it relates to how we handle our personal finances. We most certainly are not financial consultants or money gurus but, in this episode, we share about our own experiences, our own budget structure and we offer practical suggestions to those who find themselves in the same situation as ours. We believe that handling our finances more maturely involves all these three things: (1) prioritizing, (2) discipline, and (3) enjoying the fruits of our labor. As always, we talk about our reviews and/or recommendations. This week, I recommend the books "God and Churchill" and "In Charge". The first book is authored by Jonathan Sandys and Wallace Henley and the latter was written by Myles Munroe.
Jabez and I started this episode by sharing our personal process of forgiving. This is in response to a listener's question who was asking us how to forgive. We say it's not an easy thing but it is doable and we can't fully forgive unless we have experienced God's forgiveness ourselves. We continued our conversations by sharing our thoughts, lessons and personal experiences in dealing with - what we think - are the top 3 emotions that are harder to manage: (1) anger and depression, (2) envy and jealousy, and (3) infatuation or emotional/romantic attachments And as always, we talked about how we deal with these emotions by (1) creating an emotional budget, (2) choosing how to feel, and (3) guarding your heart by choosing the right people to share your heart to, establishing boundaries and feeding your mind with the right thoughts. Also, for lack of time, we have edited out our reviews and recommendations segment in this episode. Nevertheless, in keeping up with this segment, we recommend the following resources for your reference or further study: Recommended by Jabez: The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Stephen Covey Battlefield of the Mind, Joyce Meyer Recommended by Emmylou: Managing your Emotions, Joyce Meyer Power Thoughts, Joyce Meyer Note: You might want to distance your ear from the speakers when listening to this episode. Our apologies for the bad and seemingly high-pitched sound because it was only after we have finished recording that we have realized that we didn't switch to the right microphone. We'll do better next time. Just the same, thank you so much for listening and bearing with us
