Brooklyn emcee, Rocky Snyda, feels like the time is now. After focusing exclusively on performing and touring to create awareness for her content, the Flatbush native uses this downtime to craft the sounds of tomorrow on her 2-track EP, "Rhymes Like Orange". We discuss this along with her two earlier releases, her forthcoming project, "Try Pop", and how her background in theatre lends to her performative art. This episode back we talk Netflix's "The Remix" documentary, chronicling the hardships of some of the most prominent Black brands and cultural curators in their fight to exist. We give Misa Hylton her flowers for all that that she's done in making generations after her feel comfortable to show skin in the game. We talk about where "exclusivity" can go wrong and how "white adjacency" isn't too far behind it. For our first segment of The Reach Out, where we highlight an artist doing amazing work in our community, we discuss Anthony Herron, Jr. (@Flow349) and how he a group of men came together to protect Jennifer McLeggan. Over the past few months, she has been targeted by racists neighbors in her community and ignored by city officials in her quest for justice. "GRRRRRRRRRTTTTT! Or whatever Westside said". The Griselda front-man delivered an AOTY contender early on and the team sit down and talk about where it ranks among the camp's flurry of projects in the last six months. From some scene-stealing features to some memorable verses, PFP gets put on trial today. Will it stand up or have to have several seats...in the bleachers?! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! Our first episode back has tackling some heavy topics with the subject of HBO Max's documentary, On The Record. The controversial piece of work was the talk of the town once Oprah jumped ship, so the team had to sit down and watch. We discuss the stories of the Black women affected and the sordid story of hip-hop, in its relation to the objectification of women of color. Talib Kweli is a troll. We all know this. With his "Blackstar" days behind him, he's put down the mic and picked up a keyboard to do his talking and Black women happen to be on the other end of his words. No bueno. Verzuz has been a bright spot for all of us in the music community during these times of distance. Cosi & Uchechi talk the good, the bad, and the ugly that Swizz & Timbo have offered us so far.
