Suenan: PABLO SOLO - "IT'S YOU, LADY" / SPIN - "GRASSHOPPER" / FEARLESS FLYERS - "RED ARROWS" / HOLLIES - "BUTTERFLY" / GIL SCOTT-HERON - "PIECES OF A MAN" / FELT - "LOOK AT THE SUN" / THE LEMON TWIGS - "THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO FALL" / FLEETWOOD MAC - "ALBATROSS" / GENTLE GIANT - "COGS IN COGS" /Escuchar audio

Chosen by a 'Random Genre Generator' we landed on a round of reviews in the genre of Hip Hop. I decided to search out the very beginnings of the genre and in my research this name kept coming up. I had known the classic song from this album, The Revolution Will Not Be Televised, but not much else about Gil. Listen to why I chose this album and our next podcast episode will contain our review of this album. Does it live up to the hype? Listen along and decide for yourself.

Hey Everyone. This week Chase talks about “Pieces of a Man” by Mick Jenkins. Mick Jenkins is a very cerebral hip hop artist from Chicago who floods his music with live instruments, jazzy tones, and clever writing. His previous albums “Water” and “THC” are also worth the listen. Gil Scott Heron is definitely an influence on the theme of this project (you can tell by the title). I recommend this album to any pessimist who says hip hop is dead or not as conscious as it should be. Please take the time to follow me on my social media and subscribe on my channels. I will be updating my YouTube page soon with all of my podcasts. I also have plans to create an email list for anyone interested in the podcast. Thank you all peace and love
We jump into this Alabama breed, Chicago raised artist who is a combination Poet/Rapper and check out his new release: Pieces of a man. An interesting release during this Hip Hop era. But with the influence of Chance the rapper, Vic Mensa, I waited to see what this artist would bring after his critically acclaimed "The Water" release.

This week we feature Hot97 alum, Jameer Pond (@itsjameer), of The Grapevine, BuzzFeed & #WeShallOverchug on the show. We discuss his branching off from the famed radio station and his power moves since then. We get into some of his most recent trials and tribulations to come back better than ever. Mick Jenkins released his highly-anticipated sophomore album, "Pieces Of A Man", which we thoroughly enjoyed discussing and challenging artists to re-invent themselves to stay fresh. Since we were Uchechi-less, we had to throw in a topic for the ladies. Tune in to see where the conversation went! So none of us have ever listened to a Mick Jenkins project. So we had no idea what we were walking into. Sometimes that's the best way to discover some new music. Bobby joined us shortly after beginning but during the show you will hear Nicki Minaj fuck up some commas, Cardi B has all the footages (not a real word), You should only take a small portion of a brownie or you may call the police and tell them you are dead, and of course we wrapped everything up with some good music. Podcast # 3 - Pieces Of Me……..Just trying to introduce my tastes in music to the podcast community….where do I start? Well it’s my 3rd post & It’s about time I played a track by the great Gil Scott Heron. I’m a sucker for ‘Lady Day & John Coltrane’, but I felt ‘Pieces Of A Man’ was more apt in the current climate’ Some 37 years old, but still very relevant "Now don't you take this letter to heart now Jimmy Cause they've laid off nine others today" The mix kicks off with some modern crossover reggae tracks before heading in a more soulful direction with a few leftfield diversions along the way, enjoy your trip! Tracklisting;- Boozoo Bajou- Night Over Manaus Melasse- Soul Map Afterlife- Breather Gil Scott Heron- Pieces Of A Man Underwolves- Bird Song Mary J- Marvin Interlude Marvin Gaye- Heavy Love Affair David Ruffin- You Can Come Back’ UFO’- Mistress Of The Dance Eliza Carthy- Mr Magnifico Nitin Sawney feat Tina Grace- October Daze Alice Russell- Let Us Be Loving Glen Brown- No More Slavery
