“Stop the Chop” exists to eliminate non-essential helicopters from the skies above New York City – because – according to the "Stop the Chop" website: “Tourist, charter and commuter helicopter flights dramatically reduce the quality of life for millions of people in the metropolitan area. They pollute our environment, pose significant safety risks, harm our children, and make us miserable”It was a hot, second day of summer afternoon in Riverside Park – at the “You've Got Mail” promenade and garden. We sat on a bench and talked with our UWS neighbors about their concerns and questions regarding the Helicopter racket that invades our peaceful moments. Two experts, on the effects of the copter cacophony on our health and enjoyment of the our city parks, joined us -- Melissa Elstein and Ken Coughlin; both long-time NYC community organizers and environmental activists. Melissa was recently on BCR program #221 talking about “Love Your Street Tree Day” sponsored by the “West 80s Neighborhood Association” Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Newborn babies have some peculiar quirks, habits, and bodily functions. If you're entering parenthood unfamiliar with what's normal and what isn't you might be scared or deeply concerned by things that are pretty routine for new babies. To have this conversation today with me on Yoga| Birth| Babies I have Dr. Tracey Agnese. Tracey received her undergraduate degree from the University of Delaware. She graduated from SUNY Downstate medical school and completed her pediatrics residency at NYU. As a Pediatrician and a mom, Dr. Agnese knows how difficult it is to have and care for a newborn baby. She also knows that new moms often neglect taking care of themselves and wants to help change that. Dr. Agnese sees patients in her private practice on the UWS and is also an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). In this episode, Dr. Agnese goes over many things from oddly colored baby poop, to irregular breathing patterns, to signs that something is really wrong and you should consult your doctor. My hope is that new parents can be put at ease by learning about what is normal to expect from their little one! Today's episode walks you through this week's astrology + practical and magical tactics to help you harness and navigate the energetics May 26th - June 1st 2025. Last week was big and mixed. The sun and Saturn both moved to new signs. Did you stay alert? Did you lean into your practices? What can you revamp, rewrite, rework, or do new in order to empower and grow? Last week did you: Get on the mat 2 - 4xs? Listen to 1 NEW episode on The Magic Spark? Do the Kali tapping? This week has sweetness. It requires quiet and rest in any way you can; toddler bedtimes, naps, meditation, less humaning, do less, refuel more, drink tea, minimize caffeine, pull cards, spend time outdoors, do your tapping or shaking offerings. There is something very new beginning this week. This week: Get on the mat 2 - 4xs Listen to 1️ NEW episode on The Magic Spark Rejuvenate, rest, replenish. But seriously. Monday, May 26th: - Happy Mo(o)nday. The new moon in Gemini happens today. Dark of the moon. Hekate and Kali's lunation. Considered the witchiest time of the lunar cycle, with the highest probability of messaging, ah-ha or light bulb moments making their way through and to you. Honor it by carving space out today for something quiet, soft, cosmic, or woo; meditation, nap, pulling tarot, checking your chart for where Gemini sits, or simply taking a walk outside with no other stimuli. Clarity and messaging will come when we make them welcome. Turn down external input today through Thursday....whatever this lunation is offering us...we want. There are blessings, healings, understanding, and soul truths IF we heed the call of replenishing our vessels...a.k.a. resting. We've had some placements shift and the elemental count is now: ▪ 5 planets in
We were out in Riverside Parks at the "You've Got Mail" Promenade bench of our choice talking with NYCSleepDoctor.com Dr, Janet Kennedy. The tourist helicopters were ubiquitous and our UWS neighbors had many questions for Dr. Kennedy about their sleep issues. If there is one thing I learned from this conversation is that a good night's sleep is basic to good health and an interesting life. Listening to Janet's expert advice will probably push you to a more wakeful existence. Alan Winsonbarcrawlradio@gmail.com Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Today's episode walks you through this week's astrology + practical and magical tactics to help you harness and navigate the energetics May 19th - 25th 2025. Last week was a layer cake of deep feels and healing. A reveal, loaded with spiritual topics, it was sensitive and we may have cried. Multiple times. Did you let it out? Did you allow the shower from your eyes to refresh the way you see things moving forward? The reveal under the Scorpio Full Moon was something we clearly need to let go of. If it's a relationship, that's the easier version, but it also could have been our most subconscious shadow of how we think about ourselves. It's time to let the sub-par, diminished, shamed, judged, or imposter narratives GO! Last week did you: Get on the mat 2 - 4xs? Listen to 2️⃣ NEW episode on The Magic Spark ? Have a good cry? This week is big and mixed. Again. Of course. It's 2025. The sun and saturn both shift and that's simply enough to have things feeling different and weird....yet again. Stay alert. Stay or get in practice. It's the only way out. Stay present. Pivot when needed. Witness the feelings but try to get really curious as to their reality. What can you revamp, rewrite, rework, or do new in order to empower and grow? This week: Get on the mat 2 - 4xs

He's taken the reins of the Calgary Blizzard's women's League One Alberta team and the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns. It's the end of an era as Foothills WFC will not return to UWS in 2025. We reflect on the legacy of the club and how the high performance soccer landscape has changed in Calgary over the UWS era.In our last segment we've got a pretty big announcement to reveal that we're quite excited about.Subscribe to our Substack or follow us on Twitter/X or on Instagram or Bluesky. Our website is yycsoccer.com
Today's episode walks you through this week's astrology + practical and magical tactics to help you harness and navigate the energetics April 28th - May 4th 2025. Last week was a quiet mixed bag. It asked for calm, grounding and spiritual hygiene...while it had free reign to serve up simple pleasures or call outs. Did you prioritize your self care? Last week did you: Get on the mat 2 - 4xs Listen to 1 NEW episode on The Magic Spark Watch the New Moon Tarot Reading in the UWS member Library This week is full of goodies...with heat. This week: Get on the mat 2 - 4xs Listen to 2 NEW episode on The Magic Spark Cast a spell for your career or money by EOD Wednesday Monday, April 28th: - Happy Mo(o)nday. All planets are direct this week till Sunday. Please, my loves, make it count. It won't happen again this year. This is our last 'all direct' moment. Whatever to-do list you have (without freaking out and overly stressing) get as much done as you can. Within this window of the New Moon in Taurus it is massively to the benefit of your resources (time, money, energy, body, mind, and soul) to do so. This week our elemental count shifts. The Fire of it all bumps up to 5, with a whopping 4 in Aries. Tempers could flare or your personal fire could finally blaze and have your heart, energy, and creativity coming back online! Venus is also doing a lot this week, so continue to give her focus on your altar and in your Energy Healings (tapping & shaking). We want her blessing us, not pressing us. - Day 1 of Stable New Moon #2 -You'll need a yoga strap and a set of yoga blocks for this constructive rest series. We're still in constructive rest under this new moon. Mobility and flexibility is the vibe. You'll see a focus on shoulders (new stressors in your life), spinal rotations for detox, psoas openers (emotional storage units of the body), and A juicy constructive rest to close. Tuesday, April 29th: - Watch Zodiac Basics: Taurus if you're craving a deeper dive into Taurus energies. Tis the season. It's the moon, the season, and we all have it in our chart somewhere. You'll find it in the astrology section of your Unicorn Wellness Studio member library. Wednesday, April 30th: -EP 131 on The Magic Spark Uranus is doing something of note this week and the Uranian energy will become more distinct as we move towards August. It's a big energy, it's disruptive, and can be magical. So I'm sharing a piece of content I created for Magical Mentees in the fall session. You're going to want to explore this. And it just might take a couple of listens to prep for the amplification of Uranian energy in August. It's a mini master class. - Last day of New Moon Energy. Continue to lean into the quiet of it all. Rest, replenish, cast a spell because what you plant in a Taurus new moon has got roots to provide for the long haul. It's especially good for career and money magick. - Venus enters Aries. We like her here. We do. She's blunt and quick and ok to burn something down to get to what she really desires. There's no mincing words in this phase. There is clarity and no b.s. It may feel like somehow if you're not used to receiving a fem vibe with clear boundaries and no room for negotiations. Thursday, May 1st: - Uranus Sextile True Node. A sextile in astrology is always considered a benefit. This collective transit offers us lessons that have us breaking up with tradition in any and all ways. Think internalized patriarchy be gone, binaries AWAY! Proper path, boxes, and 'right ways' to do things are banished and simply will no longer work. - Day 1 of Stable Classic - No props needed for this workout. We're brewing magic in our pelvic bowl with sufi rolls, full deep core, corkscrew, reverse plank, side plank...strength and stability training...swan, rolling plank, and puppy. This is a well crafted tiny & mighty series. Friday, May 2nd: - Venus conjunct Neptune. This one is going to call in themes of romantic relationships. Either a rebirth of romanticism, a new love of some kind, or an obsession with the love you don't currently have access to. We simply have to witness how it plays out and work with what roles through...but please remember Venus is not just amorous love, it's finances and general pleasure, and Neptune is dreams and delusions. This could be work or finance related. - Aphrodite's Day. It's time to ask: What does my inner goddess need in order to remember she is sacred, divine, and designed to receive? Take the rest. Eat the chocolate. Put your hand on your heart, breathe deeply, wear red lipstick. Demand attention from yourself. Light yourself on fire today. Saturday, May 3rd: Breathe, meditate, drink water, eat vegetables, get on the mat. Sunday, May 4th: - Pluto stations Retrograde. This little guy was all the topic not so long ago. Pluto finally moved into Aquarius after being in Capricorn 16 years. Pluto will station today and be retrograde through October 13th. This will pull us all in again in terms of cathartic change. Emotionally it might feel like it in its capacity to affect positive change/growth. "What will move me/us into the future? I have no emotional attachment to the solve...but I am deeply attached to solving." - Day 1 of Stable Building Blocks - You'll need a set of yoga blocks (cork preferred) for this workout. We're back to giving attention to shoulder health and stability (new daily stressors), classical pilates mat with a splash of weird. - Your weekly mantra: Venus, Venus, Aphrodite, goddess of love and finances I clear a place for you at the table. In fact I clear the entire table for you. The table is yours. It belongs to you. Eat and serve My appetite is big and I am ready to feed. Venus, Venus, Aphrodite, goddess of love and finances I AM OPEN TO RECEIVE. Today's episode walks you through this week's astrology + practical and magical tactics to help you harness and navigate the energetics April 21st -27th 2025. Last week moved us forward. Did you embrace it and go with it? This week is a quiet mixed bag. It asks for calm, grounded space and spiritual hygiene...while it may be serving up simple pleasures or annoying call outs for better foundations. Keep the calendar as clear as you can. Prioritize your self care. Monday, April 21st: - Happy Mo(o)nday. Today Mercury is officially in the all clear! With all planets moving forward. Let's focus on this combo as Saturn conjuncts the North Node in Pisces today. Our dreams and spiritual hygiene are getting a highlight. The North Node in Pisces calls us to healing, spirituality, and our psychic capabilities. Saturn always takes us to task with our adulting; self discipline, timelines, and time limitations. Today's meet up of these two cosmic energies will bring into focus the importance of consistent meditation (self discipline + spirituality) or light up where we're a little too delulu about how to get to our dreams (perhaps needing more doing and less dreaming). No matter how this conjunction rolls through, after all it's a 50/50 wildcard as to how it plays out...prioritize an energetic healing or meditation today. It's as much insurance as we can have with this happening. Anytime Saturn is involved, it's trying to grow us up and teach us to do the boring, uncomfortable things. Adulting pays it forward for our manifestations. Basically, today through May 4th, get the to-do list out. Pray, meditate about it, then go check things off. Tuesday, April 22nd: - Day 1 of Flow Ease #2 - No props needed for this workout. You'll see a standing warrior series with a moon flow. Detoxing rotations, strong planks, glute medius, and hip health round out this magic movement series. Wednesday, April 23rd: -Watch our New moon Tarot Reading. Something new has died in us and something new is being born. Venus has completed her retrograde and one of her seasons is here (Taurus). What's the new seed that got planted in your heart? Watch our new moon tarot reading in your UWS member library. This new moon has us focusing on sacred sensual pleasure. Thursday, April 24th: -
Today's episode walks you through this week's astrology + practical and magical tactics to help you harness and navigate the energetics March 24th - 30th, 2025 Last week was quiet AND full of wild cards. The sun shifted into Aries, and had two cazimis. It was a week that brought awareness to our vitality, where we shine, or where we don't. What gems did you glean out of last week? Last week did you: Get on the mat 2 - 4xs? Listen to three NEW episodes on The Magic Spark? Embrace simplicity? This week is big. Very, very big. It's one of the weeks we've been anticipating for this unprecedented astrological year of 2025. This week: Get on the mat 2 - 4xs Listen to two NEW episode on The Magic Spark Watch the New Moon Partial Solar Eclipse Tarot Reading in the UWS member Library. Use the 8 min Chakra Balance Energy Healing in your UWS member Library. Monday, March 24th: - Happy Mo(o)nday. We start big right out of the gate with the Sun conjunct Mercury. It's yet another cazimi! Wild card. Power wash. Reboot. Today it's the messenger of the gods. Trickster, patron of travelers, merchants, and thieves. Quite the combo, our Mr. Mercury. - New Moon Partial Solar Eclipse Tarot Reading. Create space this week to watch your reading in the Unicorn Wellness Studio member library. If you don't watch any of our readings all year, WATCH THE ECLIPSE READINGS! Tuesday, March 25th: - Black Moon Lilith moves into Scorpio. This is a transit worth mentioning in this community because Lilith is one of our main guides and space holders. This is one of three Lilith placements in a chart, so please know they each represent something slightly different. Black moon Lilith is a mathematical point in the sky that represents the farthest shadow cast from our personal moon. It represents our deepest shadow in this lifetime and will absolutely always have something to do with our sexuality, perspectives on sex, particularly if/where it breeds shame or judgement. Short cut here - Lilith wants you to have a healthy relationship to sex and says nothing is off limits if it's consensual and safe. Lilith teaches us judgments all need to be tempered with 'says who?' and 'consider the source' as well as our classic 'is this equitable...and to who?'. Black Moon Lilith spends nine months in each sign. A gestation period. A nod to her as a goddess of blood, sex magic, and womb space healing. She moves through the chart lighting up our shame and shadows to illuminate for reclamation and empowerment. She challenges all things that try to make us feel small or 'under' another. She is the epitome of dismantling internalized patriarchy. She is voice and communication. And she will test us. When this placement moves into Scorpio she pushes us as a collective to go into all the taboo spaces. Wednesday, March 26th: - First Day of New Moon Eclipse Energy. New moons ask us to go dark, just like them. Hermit away. Meditate, rest and restore. It's an incredibly magical time in the cycle and the eclipse ramps it up. Prioritize whatever it is you need in order to continue towards your goals. - EP 122 on The Magic Spark. Is a surprise! As I write this newsletter I'm not sure the best route to take for this episode. It might be an audio offering on The Hermit card (the card of 2025), the audio of the new moon eclipse reading, or a personal note of additional channeled messaging mid-week. - Day 1 of New Moon Ease #1 - You'll need a yoga strap for this workout, but a scarf, belt or towel can work in a pinch. This is the first of our two constructive rest videos under this new moon cycle. It's week 1 of our 4 week training cycle. It's the best time to begin a mat practice with me, or to return. It's all flexibility and mobility. If you've been with me then this is the time when the work we've done prior transitions into results. If you're just starting, you begin soft and ramp up into the practice at its most supported pacing. Thursday, March 27th: - Venus Rx backtracks into Pisces. Venus loves to be here. This is her home domain of exaltation. She's had her spa day with the sun (the cazimi) and she's floating on her back in a dreamy ocean of potential. This could feel like a bit of the love (or dopamine) has come back to your life. This is her second pass at a path she has already tread. It may offer a rebirth of hope and potential. She's still helping us reevaluate what brings us pleasure and joy in all the realms; partnership, glamour, finances....if you feel like you don't know who you are right now or what you like...our lady Aphrodite will take the blame. - Venus Neptune Conjunction. And on the very same day our goddess has a tight passage with Neptune. Her higher octave. Dreams, delusions, and all the sensual pleasures. Again, a wild card. We don't know how it will really shake out for each of us. Could be the sweetest kiss of pleasure and trusting what we like and brings us satisfaction. It could equally be a place where we're faced with the delusions of what we keep saying will please us but there are hidden enjoyments wanting to burst through the surface. This could be a confusing trigger or a bold recognition. Ultimately it is divine feminine healing. Lean in. Stay curious. Tread with soft grace through it. Friday, March 28th: - Aphrodite's Day It's time to ask: What does my inner goddess need in order to remember she is sacred, divine, and designed to receive? Give awareness to something that soothes, delights, or pleases you. This is ritual. This is sacred. Stand at your altar, in a mirror, or outdoors for this. Connection & reflection are the words this week. Saturday, March 29th: - Day 1 of New Moon Ease #2 - You'll need a set of yoga blocks for this workout. More yummy new moon restoration work. We cover a lot of ground in this one from floor to standing. You'll see sufi rolls, a signature shoulder girdle series, classics like pigeon, down dog and a twisted child's pose, moving into standing hip circles with a classic triangle series. It opens all the nooks and crannies for flow. - New Moon Partial Solar Eclipse in Aries. This is a flip of the switch for all things Aries. The Universe says 'We're going to try turning it off and on...again'. This lunation completes the eclipse cycle of July 17th, 2023 - January 11th, 2025. The major changes and big pivots have already happened (we hope) and this lunation says this is truly a fresh start and new beginning of potential in the themes of the house Aries sits in in your chart. If you don't know what house Aries sits in for you...it will absolutely be about your empowered leadership in your own life. How do you lead your own narrative? What new narrative will you launch and move forward with with restored and energized resources? - Mercury Rx backtracks into Pisces. Do we see the game of pacman happening between Aries and Pisces and Venus and Mars this year? Back and forth across the board, multiple times. It's real. There is something about our psychic gifts, spirituality, release, grief, mourning, loss and our benevolent, self centric energy of personal leadership in our individual and collective lives happening. Mercury doesn't so much thrive swimming backwards, but it will once again shift our communication styles to more emotional. More tender. It will once again heighten our intuition and the messages making it through from the unseen. Sunday, March 30th: - Neptune moves into Aries. This is epic news. No dramatization in this sentence. This is big. Remember your Moonday news from last week? When we talked about the Neptune cazimi? Welp, today is one of the days that change everything. Here's a tiny recap; Neptune hasn't been in Aries since the 1860's. This offers us a complete refresh of what we might dream into, removing delusions. This is considered a new era of creativity and innovation that has so much to do with leadership and identity. It offers societal shifts. This of course is happening for the collective world stage as well as in our personal lives. Around here we focus on the personal to make the butterfly effect in the collective. The last time Neptune was here was 1862 - 1875. This was revolution, it's bound to be that again...but with a different story line. - Mercury Neptune Conjunction. Another wildcard. It's like bumper cars in the cosmos these days. Mercury and Neptune squeak past each other today. Offering either a new entrepreneurial partnership between the higher octave of Venus (Neptune) and our trickster chatterbox Mercury. Remember that Venus and Mercury are both tricksters...they love a good plot twist. They love to make people sweat it out to have something beautiful happen. They equally love to stir up chaos that amounts to nothing, for pure amusement. - Your weekly offering: This life is ever spiraling cycles of connection and reflection. Sometimes we connect. Sometimes we need to disconnect. This time we stand in assessment of where we are and what we need. We respond and support what the body tells us - do we need to connect or disconnect. No more should's. No more supposed to's. Less pro-con lists. More navigating by our soul compass. Our 3D lives are reflections of both connection & disconnection. Sometimes thriving. Sometimes flailing. What has it been more of the time than not? Therein lies the answer. Adjust accordingly. On the daily. In honor of your soul. In honor of your intuition. In honor of your magic. In honor of you. because... YOU are the magic. It's also our Spring Equinox and the Astrological New Year. - Sun conjunct Neptune. It's another cazimi! We had two cazimi's last week and we've got two more this week. There's a tiny parade through the Sun's car wash. This aspect is interesting. Neptune takes 14 years to move through a single sign of the zodiac. It's been in Pisces since 2011 and the last time it had a conjunction with the sun was 2021. This conjunction today is happening at the 29th degree of Pisces. Known as the anaretic degree - the last degree of a sign, the degree of fate, of karma, of release. Thursday, March 20th: EP 120 on The Magic Spark. Is our Aries Season Tarot Forecast! Tune into the spirit in which to move through this cycle. - Sun enters Aries. Spring Equinox. HAPPY ASTROLOGICAL NEW YEAR! - Day 1 of Upside down Flow -No props needed for this workout. In this workout you'll see deep hip health for access to core strength. Dead bug makes an appearance (it's so good for you), wheel, side kick series, boat, baby bird, a sneaky glute strength series, headstand prep + rotations and circles for detox and energetic/magic circulation. Friday, March 21st: - Aphrodite's Day It's time to ask: What does my inner goddess need in order to remember she is sacred, divine, and designed to receive? Keep it simple. Whisper a tiny prayer for more balance, stability, pleasure, joy, and peace in your day. Sip rose tea. Slather yourself in a comforting scent or lotion. Use your Aphrodite tapping or shaking in the Healing Frequencies portion of the UWS library. Whatever calls, just make sure to nod to Aphrodite today. Say thank you for her magic, her narrative, her guidance, protection, and badassery in the world. Saturday, March 22nd: - Breathe. Drink water. Get on the mat and do the 5-Minute Frequency Reset. Sunday, March 23rd: - Day 1 of Rainbow Flow - You'll need a set of blocks for this workout. Cork blocks preferred. You'll see sufi rolls for physical and metaphysical circulation amplification, a juicy bridge series for glute, hamstring, and low back strength, sidekick series for hip strength, boomerang, table tops into reverse plank, shoulder series, fish, and a big ole rainbow pike. This is a strong workout, but as always; listen to the cues, do what you can and leave the rest. Every video is a mixed level workout. If you stay open and just try to make the body connections from the cues I offer, you will absolutely surprise yourself as to what you are capable of. - Sun conjunct Venus. Our second cazimi this week! It's another special moment because it's happening in the Venus retrograde and the last time Venus was conjunct the sun was 2012. So it's been a minute since our lady Aphrodite got a power wash, reset, revitalization glow up from the sun. Yes, when two celestial bodies share the same spot in the cosmo's, it's a wild card. Could be a big ole blessing, could be a sizable challenge. And...I do prescribe to the narrative that a cazimi (conjunction with the sun) is always a restart, refresh, reboot...and personally I always think this is great. It's like turning the energy (Venus) off and on again. It somehow just always works better after. -
Today's episode walks you through this week's astrology + practical and magical tactics to help you harness and navigate the energetics March 3rd - 9th Last week got busier in quiet and weird ways. Multiple wildcards were played. Were you able to take care of your vessel, because your body is the original technology for energy and divine messaging. The more cared for your vessel is, the more you'll be able to feel your way through this entire year. Because thinking through it is not the thing in 2025. There's a lot of confusion, chaos, and delusion this year. Your vessel is a valid and profound resource when it's tended to with respect. Build that relationship now, or continue the process. We're going to know more by how our vessel feels vs. what we think. This week it's another eerily quiet week in the skies. We only have one transit but we're in the soup of it all because of last week. Focus on keeping things manageable and grounded. Meditate. Get on the mat. Tend to your vessel. Support it. Care for it. Replenish it. It's the home of your soul. Monday, March 3rd: -
Today's episode walks you through this week's astrology + practical and magical tactics to help you harness and navigate the energetics February 24th - March 2nd Last week added more water to the ocean of emotion we were already swimming in. Pisces season began, and we cheered for Mars stationing direct! Did you...just keep swimming? This week gets busier in quiet and weird ways. Multiple wildcards await. Take care of your vessel, because your body is the original technology. It's the home of your magic. It is temple. Monday, February 24th: - Happy Mo(o)nday! Welcome to the very first day of our new moon cycle. It's time to replenish and draw in. It's always a time of rest and divine messaging. This week massively amplifies that vibe with a new moon in Pisces....but let's be clear, it's not just a new moon in Pisces...we've got a party in Pisces; Neptune, Saturn, Mercury, the Sun, and the North Node and on Thursday....Mama Moon. ▪️Hydrate ▪️Rest ▪️Flush your lymphatic system; foam roll, jumping on the trampoline, cardio, and dry brushing ▪️Ingest fresh ginger - Day 1 of New Moon Flow #1 - You'll need a set of yoga blocks (cork preferred) and a yoga strap. This movement series begins our constructive rest cycle. This is the week to begin a mat practice or to return to your practice. This week welcomes a full 6 days of mobility and flexibility. It's the time we take our vessel to a quieter space to synthesize the work we've done prior and allow results to happen. No rest, no results. This is science fitness fact. Welcome to results by doing less. Yup, you heard me. Lower cortisol, cultivate hormone balance....these are the things that bolster, nourish, and support results. Tiny and mighty, long game work. You'll see a variation of our closed book series for thoracic, neck, and torso mobility, a lovely focus on hamstrings, low back, rotation in general for digestion and detox, with puppy pose, and rabbit to harmonize the endocrine system. Tuesday, February 25th: - Last chance to book an exploration call for Magical Mentoring! Imagine navigating this year with unique, channeled tarot readings, to-do lists, community, coven calls, empowerment, me, and actual growth and healing.

Today's episode walks you through this week's astrology + practical and magical tactics to help you harness and navigate the energetics February 17th - 23rd. Last week was subtle in the skies but had a lot to offer in the 3D, with one big full moon. Healing was at hand. Did you feel it? How did it express in your life? This week adds more water to the ocean of emotion we're already swimming in. Say Hey to Pisces season, then cheer for Mars stationing direct! Above all...just keep swimming. Monday, February 17th: - Happy Mo(o)nday! Full disclosure, our full moon last week did not play out in my own world at all the way I anticipated. Rather than showing up live for the community and traveling, and living my best Leo life, I had no voice and hunkered down in bed for multiple days in a row. That's not to say it wasn't sweet, but it was definitely more Hermit vibes rather than the Leo fire, this Leo rising looks forward to. I'm dying to know how yours played out. Amplified emotions? Time to shine? Opportunities to heal? Where did your true internal heart centric path take you....mine took me to rest. I get it. This week has two major transits...one's great, while the other kinda complicates things. So stay focused. Stay mellow. Keep your roster and calendar as light as possible with lots of flexibility and time to rest & replenish. Make the time to tie up your map and vision of 2025. Sit and think about what would make you really proud, if you accomplished it by 2026. Get into your feelings...not your analytical thoughts. And for goddess sake, don't try to save the world, alone. Focus on making your personal world better (self, home, family), and then close community…if you've got remaining bandwidth. I'm not saying to check out…I'm saying to check IN with what's reasonable and possible. Continue doing whatever you need to do to find stability in your day. Lock in on your practices, they provide: ▪️Mat ▪️Meditation or Energetic Healing ▪️Connect with community & friends. ▪️Hydrate ▪️Prioritize rest

Back in early Spring 2024 -- we net Bronx Public Defender Eli Northrup as he was beginning his run for NY State Assembly representative for the UWS. We were recording outside the Goddard Riverside Community Center at West 88th St and Columbus Avenue, talking to neighbors celebrating “Love Your Street Tree Day” – and Eli came up to our open mic.Eli placed second in the election for State Assembly. We invited Eli to talk about his experience of running for state office and his work as the “Policy Director for the Criminal Defense Practice at the Bronx Defenders” office. We began the conversation asking Eli about his NYU law school hip hop band “Pants Velour” and their quick hit “Charlie Sheen: Always Winning.” Eli shared his deep disappointment with losing the election and how his work as the policy director at the Bronx Public Defenders formed his political platform. At the midpoint of the conversation we talked about American citizens' looking for openness and honesty in a political scene rife with dishonesty. Hosted on Acast. Today we are talking about creating balance in your relaxed state (Yin) and active state (Yang), with my guest Olivia Shurdova. Join us!This is a really insightful discussion about energy, how easy it is to over-extend yourself and how to find the balance:Today we are learning that whilst your Yin energies are cooling, passive, contemplative and dark, Yang is active and about light and warming the bodyWe see this balance in everything around us in natureYin and Yang can both deplete us AND fill us up!When depleting us, 'False' Yin would make you feel stuck, heavy, fearful and insecure whilst 'False' Yang can lead to aggressiveness or narcissismOlivia says:"Part of Yin and Yang is to go with your challenges: yin is about being adaptable and yang is about being creative. You need both together to support you and fuel the demands you place on yourself." For this BCR conversation at the West Side Community Garden we investigated the stories of two ladies--one affected by chance--the other by choice. The first story is about a chance phone call that led to instant and fleeting fame – and the other -- a choice to help recently arrived neighbors which will lead to – what?Rebecca McKean and I were set-up in the southeast corner of the West Side Community Garden. As our UWS neighbors sought their favorite spots to listen to the Cassatt String Quartet, we talked with Marilyn O'Day – a high school junior who started a study hangout at the Newton Hotel for recent migrants from South America as part of the Open Hearts Initiative -- and -- Meg Parsont, a publicist for publishers, gardener, and contributor to the West Side Rag newspaper. Meg was once famous – appearing over 30 times in the early 1990s on Late Night with David Letterman.Later in this program, we spoke with cellist Gwen Krosnick of the Cassatt String Quartet about the evenings musical offerings.Alan Winsonbarcrawlradio@gmail.com Hosted on Acast. The majestic trees in front of Goddard Riverside on the Upper West Side of Manhattan were blushing brightly as the community gathered to learn about and spruce up the beds of our leafy neighbors for the seventh annual “Love Your Street Tree Day” – May 7th 2024. Rebecca and I learned a lot about our urban forest and how to take care of our barked friends – not our barking friends. Which reminds me -- "Don't piss on our street tree" signs were passed out to our UWS neighbors -- along with buckets of mulch -- and donuts – and coffee. The event was sponsored by the West 80s Neighborhood Association – and we talked with two of its leaders. But before we talked with Melissa Elstein and Kim Johnson, we had some fun with a few UWS tree huggers.CONTACT: barcrawlradio@gmail.com Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Hal Linden Live on Game Changers with Vicki Abelson Does it get better than this? Someone's gonna have to prove it to me. Wow, what a time with Hal Linden! As nice, charming, handsome, and tall (well, I'm guessing on the last), as his Barney Miller, Hal was all that and a hefty bag of Cheetos. Absolutely age-defying - I want to see his birth certificate. It's unfathomable that he's 93. Still dashing, his voice strong, mind sharp, wit crackling, and his talent will be on display next weekend in Flat Rock, co-starring with Marilu Henner in Ed Weinberger's, The Journals of Adam and Eve. I wanna go! Road trip? Hal took us through his early days, one of six cousins, all professional musicians, he a clarinetist first, classically trained, in the musicians union at 15, then the sax called, a hysterical story there, the army, and then the theatre… to hear Hal tell it, it all makes sense. From summer stock to Broadway as an understudy in Bells Are Ringing with Judy Holliday. I won't dare ruin that story. It was 8 years of understudying, and standing in, which led to his Tony-winning starring role in The Rothschilds. Please do yourself a favor and watch Hal sing “Sons,” as seen on the Ed Sullivan Show, his clear ticket to Tony. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fnztP3vCRko Breathtaking. And then we got to the meat. Barney Miller. How he got it, what he gave up. The gamble he took. The payoff. We talked the original cast in the first failed pilot and the magical one that replaced it. We talked characters, chemistry, and process. How much Hal was in Barney, how much Barney in Hal. And, the part he turned down afterward, without even looking. We had two degrees of Kevin Bacon without the Kevin and without the Bacon, all over the place… from our Bronx beginnings to raising our kids on the UWS of Manhattan and then LA, to Marilu and Ed, but most of all, the Catskills and the crooner. Hal started out in the Borscht Belt with his band at the Paramount Hotel. My father started out at the same hotel as an MC. Years later, after Hal's Broadway and TV fame, my dad lived a dream, introducing Hal, one of his heroes, and opening for him at the Yiddish Theatre in New York. It was one of the highlights and great joys of his career. They were both handsome as heck, charming as can be, and smooth as silk singers. Hal still is. My dad is up there smiling this eve. Larry Katz, this one's for you. Thank you, Hal. This will go down as one of the highlights and great joys of my career, and I'll forever be grateful. But why on a bad hair day?!?
