In this exclusive interview, rapper and actor Dave East opens up about his Caribbean roots, embracing his Dominican side, and how his culture shaped who he is today. From the pressure of signing with Nas' Mass Appeal label to landing the iconic role of Method Man in the hit series Wu-Tang: An American Saga, Dave reflects on the highs, the lessons, and the grind behind his success. He also talks about his days as a college basketball player, how his hoop dreams got derailed after he "got into a lil trouble," and the shift that led him to hip-hop.

On Episode 130 of the Guest Speaker Series, we welcome bassist, producer, and vocalist, Teeba, to the show! After just receiving a Grammy nomination for his production and bass work on Eminem's latest album ‘The Death of Slim Shady', Teeba has been working on music out in Detroit with renowned producer Denaun Porter for some time now. Teeba describes the journey of how he gradually became closer with Denaun over time, which eventually led to a placement on Eminem's song “Fuel” featuring JID. Teeba is no stranger to having his music land on big songs, as his placements include the likes of Nas, DMX, Dave East, and many more. Teeba is also the founder, bassist, and one of the vocalists of the band Harsh Armadillo, who frequently perform throughout venues in New Hampshire, and New England at large. Teeba also discusses his early years being introduced to the Massachusetts music scene, where he started to connect and work frequently with the likes of Jon Glass, Melks, and SK, amongst others. Teeba truly embodies what it means to be a musician, regardless of the doors that have opened for him because of it. Teeba and Mike also reflect on a variety of other topics, including whether AI in music is a good or bad thing, Doechii winning Hip-Hop Album of the Year at the Grammy's, Teeba's incredible journey traveling on a sailboat across the world as a kid, why South Park should be considered one of the best TV shows ever, and so much more. Fresh beginnings as Episode 101 kicks off Season 5 with special guest Hammerly Felipe, a chef with a Bachelor's in Culinary Arts! But this isn't your average premiere - to celebrate the new season, Ape, Rad, Rahh, and Hammerly bring the party vibes with shots for each segment, leading to one of the most unhinged episodes yet!The ice breaker gets everyone talking with a hilariously specific question: Would you spot your friend 2 dollars in coins just so they could join in on the fun? As the first round of shots hits, the answers get increasingly honest. The music scene brings heat as the crew gets looser: Dave East and Ransom deliver "The Final Call," J. Cole elevates with "Clouds," JI PRINCE OF NY professes "I Love You," Quavo proves he's a "Trappa Rappa," and Lola Brooke tells us "You The One." Watch as the takes get hotter with each shot! The news segment (and more shots) takes serious turns: A Delta plane crash shocks the nation, P. Diddy's legal troubles deepen as his lawyer abandons ship mid-trial, hip-hop mourns the loss of Violeta Wallace, and iconic restaurant chain Hooters faces bankruptcy.By the relationship segment, things truly unravel! Rahh struggles hilariously to read the questions as the squad tackles: Love vs. security, faithful but broke vs. rich but unfaithful, bedroom communication issues, honesty about past experiences, and the politics of reciprocity. The combination of spicy topics and multiple shots creates comedy gold!Did they take it too far? Should they have stopped sooner? Tune in to see if the crew can keep it together or if this celebration turns into beautiful chaos! With Chef Hammerly joining the shot-for-shot madness, this premiere sets a new standard for unfiltered JSC energy.Don't miss this season-opening installment that proves the Jungle Squad Cast might be 100 episodes in, but they're still finding new ways to push the envelope!#JSC #Season5 #TooManyShots #Episode101 #UnfilteredAndUnhinged #NewSeason

The last 15 years, Mike & Keys solidified their status as an iconic production team on the hip-hop scene. They defined the sonic approach of albums and mixtapes like de Dom Kennedy's Get Home Safely, Nipsey Hussle's Slauson Boy 2, Buddy's Harlon & Alondra, Dave East's How Did I Get Here. They also produced tracks for Snoop Dogg, BJ The Chicago Kid, Tha Dogg Pound, Casey Veggies, Dr. Dre, Blxst. With a few other producers, J-Keys et Money Mike helped to reshape the Soutch California rap aesthetic. In particular on the highlight Victory Lap, last and only studio album by the late Nipsey Hussle, where they found balance between the new airy sounds of the 2010's and twenty years of nervous groove from the Great Los Angeles area.As they were in London and Paris at the beginning of this year, to meet and work with some European artists, Mike & Keys took their time to talk with us about their career, their music heritage, how they met and learned to work with each other, and the most remarkable productions from their discography. From his “Pound Cake” series to collaborations with Mally Raw & Dave East, Kur was always someone easy to champion as a next generation spitter coming out of Philadelphia. His straightforward & honest approach to music making was both authentically him and authentically Philly. However, this next iteration of Kur is something totally different. His eyes are brighter, his delivery is bouncier, he's jumping in and out of flow pockets we've never heard before and the content is equally amazing, but not as heavy. Kur is finally making that transition from being a great rapper to a rap star. Hits from his recent project THURL such as “Peach Snapple”, “123” and “Cheating to Win” initiated this and the overwhelming fan reactions solidified it! Kur joins us today to discuss the success of album, his creative process, his upcoming tour, making history by selling out 3 shows in Philly, working with Meek on “Confidence Level”, and getting hit up by Kevin Durant to celebrate his transition to rap stardom.
