Today, we have the pleasure of speaking with the talented Toni Esther, an African American, unsigned independent artist from Florence, South Carolina. Toni began her career at an early age, singing in the church, and has since evolved into a well-rounded artist who sings, raps, writes, and produces her own music. Toni's stage name, Esther, is inspired by the biblical character who was a queen that sacrificed herself to free her people. Her music is shaped by the influences of legends like Jay-Z, Lauryn Hill, Queen Latifah, Tupac Shakur, MC Lyte, J. Cole, and Big KRIT. Toni's philosophy, "Out of the Box," reflects her unique way of thinking and the depth of meaning in her lyrics. She encourages listeners to think beyond conventional boundaries, both musically and intellectually. For more information or to engage with Toni, visit her website at awaresc.com. There, you can purchase merchandise or learn about her Artist Consultation services. Toni assists aspiring artists in the process of creating an artist development plan, songwriting, voice training, performance coaching, and image and brand creation.THG Season 5 Intro Drops as of 10/20/24. For years, absent options, artists and bloggers focused on independence. But fuck it! Money! In 2009, it was time to cash in. When Complex started their vertical ad network, NahRight was the first website they even approached. XXL, long in the business of promoting larger-than-life stars from the majors, went left and selected ten blog-friendly rappers to put on their cover. Thanks to this, names like B.o.B., Asher Roth and Kid Cudi got a ton of attention and major label offers.

In this episode, we poltickin with MiTCH.Reigning from New York, Hip-Hop artist MiTCH paints the sonic picture of his home state even though he currently resides in Los Angeles. Bringing a recognizable voice over any instrumental, MiTCH is what rap didn't know it was missing. After leaving the Marine Corps due to an unexpected injury that caused him to experience seizures, MiTCH decided it was time to pursue his musical dreams out in Los Angeles & make the city his own. MiTCH's journey out west led him to opening up for well-known rap artists Cozz (Dreamville) & Curren$y, and allowed him to surround himself with creatives to hone in on his artistry. Having grown up studying the music of artists such as J. Cole, A Tribe Called Quest, JAY-Z, J Dilla, and Big Krit, the influence that these top tier lyricists have had on MiTCH is clear, yet his originality remains apparent.Switching flows at the drop of a dime, constructing bars to any production style & staying versatile through his story telling, MiTCH aims to always push the needle forward on what people expect from “rappers”. From his upbeat banger, “Pop It”, which has over 100 thousand streams, to the melodic, R&B based track, “Come My Way”, Hoodie Mitch has continued to intertwine modern flows & lyricism with smooth vocals to keep you guessing what he will do next.https://www.instagram.com/hoodiemitch/#hiphop #podcasts #music #usmcveteran

Olympus”, the music scene in Mississippi right now, being open with his battle with alcohol a few years ago, going to therapy, shares advice for the youth, and much more!
Jaxkie Starr, is a once-in-a-generation artist, with commanding poetry and up-tempo beats. This artist is undeniably entertaining. Able to share perspectives this artist can pull you into his world or very quickly join you in yours. An artist destined to touch the world. And he's the face, voice, and spirit of mylastX Born in Jackson, Mississippi, this Southern Hearted artist found his love for booming bass and dirty south grit in lyrics from artists like Outkast, Big KRIT, David Banner, and others. However, his life would be changed forever in third grade, and his music taste. Up north in a diverse town named Toledo, OH, he started to be introduced to the sounds of Rock, Pop, and Country. Bands like My Chemical Romance, Green Day, Linkin Park, and many others. This diverse introduction to different music heavily shaped little Jaxkie's sound to come in the future. He began writing music very briefly in the 9th grade and then stopped to pursue physical activities, much later in life (2020) after an injury he would find himself confined to a room incapable of walking, broken physically and emotionally this artist chose to start writing music again. In late 2021, after finally being able to walk again, he entered the studio for the first time, highly nervous, and in contrast, he recorded his first song “B.R.S.”, which stands for Black Rock Star. As an artist, he hopes to be an inspiration and beacon of hope to those that are lost, having dealt with mental health issues from the most painful heartbreak in his life. He hopes to be a voice for the voiceless, while so many go unheard. A young visionary and born leader pushes this artist to carry out his destiny. He hopes that through his pain, you will begin to learn that you are never alone, even in a world in which we feel we don't belong. As a musician, he wants to reunite listeners on a deeper level.
GMBLT Gmb1t is an alternative hip-hop artist who uses a unique delivery and explores a plethora of topics (mental health, his faith, having fun, etc.). Gmb1t is a Christian, but prefers his music to be considered "hip-hop," choosing instead to bond with fans in person and share his faith that way. He recently released his first major album, "UP," and was able to feature some well know artists from across the hip-hop genre. ************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************* MYLASTX Born in Jackson, Mississippi, this Southern Hearted artist found his love for booming bass and dirty south grit in lyrics from artists like Outkast, Big KRIT, David Banner, and others. Woo shares his feelings on how Father's Day men always get shafted and Mother's Day is so elegant. Of course the brothers hit a mental check and afterwards they dive into roles of Fatherhood. We hit the Woosah Moment of the Week and then they let Big Krit close the episode out with Rich Dad, Poor Dad. Thank you for giving us a Dab of your Time every week. This episode, sponsored by Blunt Bands, the guys start out talking about Childish Gambino and Big KRIT. The guys then officially start the pod talking about finding out wrestling and Pimp My Ride was fake. The team asks who's the most famous person from Kansas City. Having throwback conversations, the guys discuss an old teacher and programs from school days, followed up with conversations about the Magic Johnson's missed opportunity with Nike amongst other bag fumbles. Kutt has never had Arby's. The guys somehow start reminiscing about the Unforgivable video series, and its creator, Logan Wesley Hodge (R.I.P). The guys end todays episode talking about the Atlanta's finale and Clay's disdain for Van's character.
