There was a recent article in Christianity Today "The American Church Is a Mess. But I'm Still Hopeful" it talks about the simple fact that many churches of different denominations don't operate on the basis Biblical doctrines. Many people two-thirds of them young adults stopped attending church according to a recent survey. Many of them citing religious or political disagreements with the church or hypocrisy among members.
