In honor of St. Patrick's Day, today's release is with Donna Stewart. Donna is an ambassador for Lost Irish, a new Irish whiskey that has recently hit the market, that has become one of my favorites. The story of Lost Irish is incredible. The detail going into the brand and the whiskey is a great indicator of the quality being bottled. Take a listen, make sure to follow Lost Irish and Donna Stewart on Instagram, and pick up a bottle and try it out!
In today's episode I sit down with Cole Kephart and Ryan Autry from Garrison Bros. This was a great conversation with Cole and Ryan, and a lot of fun talking whiskey and the history of Garrison Bros. This was my first time trying GB, and after sampling the Balmorhea, I had to go out and get myself a bottle. Enjoy this conversation and be sure to grab yourself some Garrison Bros, especially if you haven't jumped into some of the amazing whiskey coming out of Texas. Support! Today's episode features Jamie Biel from Treaty Oak Distilling, out of Dripping Springs, TX. Jamie is the director of science and sustainability for Treaty Oak. Her knowledge of whiskey was incredible, however her science background really shines through when talking about their whiskey making process. It's absolutely amazing listening to some of her explanations of the process and aging. This was a really fun conversation for me, and it was a great introduction to a Texas whiskey I have never had prior to our conversation. In today's episode I sit down with Murphy Quint, the director of operations for Cedar Ridge distillery in Swisher, Iowa. I really enjoyed this conversation with Murphy, and loved the whiskey he shared with me. The QuintEssential is without a doubt my favorite American single malt whiskey I have tried. Murphy also shared the No. 9 Iowa Whiskey, which was a collaboration with the band Slipknot. This is a delicious whiskey that is in no way simply a celebrity whiskey, although it has been voted the best celebrity whiskey numerous times. In today's episode I sit down with Sagamore Spirit president Brian Treacy. First and foremost, Sagamore Spirit is making incredible whiskey. It's easy to see why their popularity is skyrocketing under Brian's leadership. They make great whiskey and have the right people in place to make the product worthwhile to buy, and would make consumers want to be repeat customers. I would highly suggest picking up a bottle of Sagamore Spirit. It's great whiskey at a really nice price point. Try the rye, and jump on the Double Oak if you get a chance. Then the cask strength. Today I sit down with Baltimore Orioles minor league coach Tim DeJohn. Tim and I became acquainted through LinkedIn and have kept in touch ever since. In our conversation we talk about coaching, our paths to where we are not, relationships with players, and the ongoing process of learning. We don't dig into the X's and O's but we do talk a lot about the other side of coaching that is sometimes overlooked. Today I am joined by NHL Hall of Fame goalie, Ed Belfour, and his son Dayn Belfour. Ed and Dayn are making incredible whiskey at Belfour Spirits, and our conversation was absolutely wonderful. I was so excited to have them on with me, and their kindness and generosity was unreal. Their humility and excitement for making good whiskey made me an instant fan. This is a great conversation for people who are interested in hockey, whiskey, or life after sports. Most athletes don't ever reach the level that Ed reached in his Hall of Fame career, so to hear about a player of his status grinding away at a new venture in life is inspiring. Enjoy this one. In today's episode I am joined by Duke University pitching coach Chris Gordon. Chris and I go back to our days coaching against each other in the Alaska Baseball League in the summers of 2011 and 2012. In our conversation, Chris walks me through his path in coaching, which started at the high school level, with stops at the NAIA level, division one volunteer assistant, director of baseball operations, and now the pitching coach at Duke in the ACC. This conversation is valuable for anyone new to coaching, working their way up through the coaching ranks, or someone who may be trying to find the best path for yourself. Chris gives some really terrific information for coaches at all levels who are trying to navigate this career. As difficult as finding your way in coaching can be, with no clear cut roadmap to "moving up," the information and emphasis Chris puts on areas you may not even think about as being valuable are prime examples of what has made him successful and has helped promote him to his position at Duke. This was an awesome coaching conversation and I really believe you will find a lot of value in the information Chris provides. Enjoy! I hope Penelope takes off on the trajectory it's currently on, and more people get exposed to the great products they are putting out. Check them out at penelopebourbon.com where you can order bottles as well as other Penelope merchandise. Danny and Mike were a lot of fun to talk with and I wish them the very best of luck in the future! *I receive some financial compensation for the use of ads in this video

Today's episode features Penn State head baseball coach Rob Cooper. In this episode we discus baseball, the people who impacted our careers, travel and of course whiskey. Coach Cooper was incredibly enjoyable to talk. His story of working through the ranks of assistant coach at different division one schools, back to junior college, then landing his first head coaching job, is a story every young coach should hear. I can't wait to sit down and enjoy a couple glasses with him in person one day. Enjoy!

Tim shares his story of starting Chattanooga Whiskey in a city where it was illegal to distill whiskey; and it all started as a Facebook ad. You really have to listed to Tim's story to understand the challenges they faced, the process of starting the company, their flagship bourbons and the vast experimental batches they offer. Not only is the backstory of Chattanooga Whiskey incredible, but the whiskey is absolutely delicious. Today I review the Old Forester 1920. This is the third out of four bottles making up Old Forester's Whiskey Row series. The 1920 is their Prohibition Style bourbon, bottled at 115 proof, and is a highly popular bottle amongst bourbon fans. Although I did not care for this bottle for quite a while, it definitely grew on me and I enjoyed it after about a third of the bottle was gone. I would buy it again and give it a second chance, but only liking a little over half of a $60 bottle might be a tough sell for me. It's an unpopular opinion overall, as it is thought of as a quality bottle for the price. To each their own I guess. Let me know what you think!
Today I am joined by Bryan Nolt, the founder and CEO of Breckenridge Distillery in Colorado. Bryan discusses the beginnings of Breckenridge Distillery, challenges and advantages faced at a distillery at 9,600 feet, and his enjoyment of Scotch and cigars. Thanks to Breckenridge Distillery for the complimentary bottles! For ceramic collectable coins and Glencairn glasses please email barrelproofbaseball@yahoo.com
Today's bottle review is courtesy of Coalition Whiskey. Coalition Whiskey offers a 100% rye whiskey, finished in Bordeaux barrels. They offer a Margaux, Sauternes, and the Pauillac, which is the expression I review here today. In addition to the barrel finished bottles, they also offer a barrel proof expression. This bottle is unique and delicious. The fruit forward nose followed up by a warm rye spice is a really nice combination of flavors, and offers a complexity in a rye that I really found enjoyable. Check out their website at www.coalitionwhiskey.com for more information.

On today's episode I review the popular Basil Hayden's. As a part of Jim Beam's small batch collection along with Bookers, Bakers and Knob Creek, Basil Hayden's is the lowest proof of the collection and a great entry level bourbon.
Brett Merritt is a pitching coach in the Boston Red Sox organization. He has spent time in all levels of college baseball, including Division one and two, NAIA, junior college and has been a collegiate summer ball head coach. As a follow up to my favorite overall every day whiskey, here is my favorite daily bourbon.
Brandon Grunbaum is the author of two books titled History of The Baseball. His in-depth knowledge of the baseball itself has led him to being utilized as a resource for the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York, and has assisted in authenticating baseballs from eras dating back to the 1800's. He is also the owner of Brandon Matthew Putters, specializing in putters for left handed golfers.
In this episode I review my favorite every day drinker; the Teeling Small Batch Irish whiskey.
