Darauf fällt bei Dürr immer etwas Licht: das Licht von Ostern. Manuel Dürr ist Jahrgang 1989, Künstler aus Biel und gläubiger evangelischer Christ. Für seine Arbeit fühlte er sich nun tief ein in die «typisch katholische» Kreuzweg-Frömmigkeit. Auch stilistisch passte sich der Künstler ins Umfeld des Petersdoms ein. Dürr hat in Italien Malerei studiert und liebt die alten Meister. Im klassisch katholischen Kreuzweg kommen Szenen vor, die in der evangelischen Frömmigkeit und Kunst keine Rolle spielen, etwa weil sie nicht in der Bibel stehen. Gerade die fand Manuel Dürr besonders spannend. Beispielsweise das Motiv der Heiligen Veronika: Auf dem Schweisstuch, das sie dem leidenden Jesus reicht, bildet sich dessen Gesicht ab. Die tiefe Bild-Mystik dieses Motivs könne er erst jetzt durch seine Arbeit für den Petersdom richtig nachvollziehen, erzählt Dürr in seinem Atelier in Biel. In «Perspektiven» spricht der junge Künstler Manuel Dürr über seine Idee von christlicher Kunst im 21. Jahrhundert. Dabei scheinen ihm Niederschwelligkeit für die Gläubigen und «die gute Botschaft» wichtiger zu sein als Anerkennung durch die Kunst-Avantgarde. Das Kreuz an sich sei schon «Intervention» genug. Thomas Gabriel – der Name dürfte vielen kein Begriff sein. Und doch zählt der gebürtige Nidwaldner zu den prägenden Persönlichkeiten der Schweizer Musikszene. Der studierte Pianist, Posaunist und Blasmusikdirigent besitzt heute das grösste Tonstudio der Schweiz und ist unter anderem verantwortlich für die Aufnahmen am Eidgenössischen Musikfest 2026 in Biel. Dabei begann alles an einem ganz anderen Ort: an der Fasnacht. Als Probeleiter der Guggenmusik «Seegusler Buochs» schrieb Gabriel frühe mehrstimmige Arrangements – ein Novum in der Schweizer Guggenlandschaft. Rückblickend sagt er: «Ich habe der Guggenmusik viel zu verdanken.» Denn sie ebnete ihm nicht nur den Weg als Arrangeur und Komponist, sondern auch jenen als Tonmeister. Als im Kinderzimmer irgendwann kein Platz mehr war für Mischpulte, Recorder und Kabel, wich Gabriel kurzerhand in einen ehemaligen Schweinestall aus, der zum ersten eigenen Tonstudio wurde. Guggenmusik, Klassik, Blasmusik, Volksmusik – musikalisch lässt sich Thomas Gabriel bis heute in keine Schublade stecken. Seit vielen Jahren dirigiert er die «Swiss Powerbrass», wohl die bekannteste Guggenmusik der Schweiz, ebenso wie den «Jodlerklub Wiesenberg». Wie es zu dieser stilistischen Vielfalt kam, weshalb ihn die Guggenmusik bis heute nicht loslässt und warum ausgerechnet er – der schon früh Klavierunterricht hatte – später zur Posaune wechselte: Darüber spricht er im SRF Musikwelle Brunch.
