This week on The Whiskey Trip, Big Chief takes listeners to the bourbon capital of the world—Bardstown, Kentucky—for an unforgettable conversation with his good friend Bernie Lubbers, the National Brand Ambassador for Heaven Hill Distillery and the man known far and wide as The Whiskey Professor. Bernie's journey into whiskey is as fascinating as the spirits he represents. After 20 years on the comedy stage, fate led him down a different path—one paved with barrels, tradition, and the rich history of America's native spirit. For the past two decades, he has traveled the world, first for Jim Beam and now for Heaven Hill, preaching the gospel of great bourbon. His love for Bottled-in-Bond whiskey runs deep, a passion passed down from his father, and today, he stands as one of its greatest advocates. Chief and Bernie kick things off with a pour of the legendary Heaven Hill Bottled-in-Bond 6-Year—a beloved, now-discontinued gem that bourbon lovers still mourn. They then move on to JW Dant, another Bottled-in-Bond treasure that deserves a spot on every whiskey drinker's shelf. As they dive deeper, they sip on Heaven Hill Bottled-in-Bond 7-Year, a whiskey bursting with rich peanut brittle sweetness and a beautifully balanced finish. The second half of the show is nothing short of spectacular. Chief and Bernie savor the bold, oak-forward character of Henry McKenna 10-Year Bottled-in-Bond, a whiskey layered with sharp spice, honey, and warmth. And then, the moment of the night—Old Fitzgerald 19-Year Bottled-in-Bond, a rare and luxurious pour that whiskey enthusiasts dream about. Just when Chief thinks the ride couldn't get any better, Bernie drops a bombshell: Heaven Hill is set to release an Old Fitzgerald 7-Year Bottled-in-Bond, available nationwide.  This episode isn't just about whiskey; it's about passion, legacy, and the art of storytelling. Bernie Lubbers isn't just an ambassador—he's a master of his craft, a true whiskey evangelist who lives and breathes the spirit of Bottled-in-Bond. So pour yourself a glass, settle in, and join us for another incredible ride on The Whiskey Trip. Cheers!

Our first ever guest is back! Today we decided to bring back our very first guest to catch up on his bars, how he won his most recent award and to discuss a whole slew of other topics. He's a third generation bar owner, a judge for MANY craft cocktail competitions, owner of the The Avril Levine Punk Bar, National Brand Ambassador for Woody Creek Distillery, winner of the “American Bartender of the Year” in 2014 and recently won “Best Bar Mentor” at Tales of the Cocktails 2022 Spirited Awards in NO, in 2014 his flagship bar Williams&Graham was nominated for a James Beard Award and in 2015 was named one of the World's Top 50 Bars by Drinks International Magazine. He is a forceful advocate for his employees and one of our favorite bar/restaurant owner responders. The one and only, SEAN KENYON! DRINKS: Maple Walnut Old Fashioned https://www.happyhrhandbook.com/ REVIEWS APPETIZER: Williams & Graham(4.5), Denver, CO 3 Stars, Yelp 9/2022 Good drinks but be careful as they try to add drinks to bill you never ordered hoping you will be too buzzed to notice. This is definitely a place for beta millennials to voice their intersectionality oppressions out loud. Main Course: Occidental(4), Denver, CO 1 Star, Yelp 11/2021 Ashlynn the bartender had my kicked out before I could even order a drink or sit down for my friends birthday party. They had the door guy say "We all don't feel safe with you here, you can't drink here." I've been going there for years and know and knew a lot of the bartenders over the ages. I would never be threatening or have been to any business or their people. This all happened because I know and am friends with her ex boyfriend of 5 years ago. Very poor decision on on her part and bad for the business as the whole birthday party left as well. I will not be going back with the way I was treated and for such pathetic grudge holding and ego stroking. Just hope you're not friends with any of her ex's if you do go. Dessert: Occidental(4), Denver, CO 1 Star Yelp 6/2021 The "child" working the front door is a huge asshole, if you like being talked down to by skinny tatted up wanna be tough guys this is the place for you. Guy is the owner apparently, makes sense as to why he was such an unnecessary prick. There's way too many good bars in lohi to waste your money here. Occidental (4), Denver CO 1 Star Yelp 12/2021 This evening me and my crew went to the occidental and it was god awful. We paid for three drinks and never received them. The "waiter" took the card and never retrieved the drinks. Awful and would *never* recommend this bar to locals or otherwise. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/3starspodcast/message

RD1 Spirits (you might know them as W. M. Tarr) has officially launched their new brand as of September 10th. W. M. Tarr was an excellent blended whiskey, but was always meant as a limited edition while the RD1 bourbons became ready.  Now, they are.  I talk with Barry Brinegar, National Brand Ambassador, face of the brand, and now a friend, all about the origins of Registered Distillery 1, Ashland, the brands that have come and gone from the label, what they're experimenting with next, and more. At time of publication, there might be some W. M. Tarr bottles still available, but your best bet is to visit the brand's center at Lexington's Distillery District.  One other note: Barry is one of the hardest working people in the industry, and that's really saying something. In my mind, only Alex Clark at Fort Hamilton is at the same level in terms of pounding the pavement for his product. And that passion shows.  W. M. Tarr was excellent. The RD1 Bourbons are excellent. Hey Whiskey Ringers, thanks for tuning in to another episode of the Whiskey Ring Podcast. This week's guest is Stephen Fante, National Brand Ambassador for Limestone Branch Distillery. Stephen has a fascinating back story: between being a tea sommelier (a new thing for me that I love), a childhood friend of Stephen Beam who lost touch then reconnected over the latter's distillery, and now a national brand ambassador, he is a damn interesting character.  Limestone Branch Distillery is on the newer side, but there's no denying the massive heritage behind it. The Beam family, the most prolific single family in American whiskey, is here, too, in the form of Stephen and Paul Beam, 7th generation distillers.  Then there's the connection with Yellowstone National Park. The Yellowstone brand is as old as the Park, being founded in 1872 in its honor. Though it's changed hands over the years, it is a venerable brand with a nearly continuous history. Now owned by Limestone Branch, the brand is in its new glory days - and Stephen Fante is at the front lines.  Donate to the National Parks Conservation Association Here. Born and raised in Boston, MA of Greek immigrant parents, and an alumna of Boston Latin School, and Boston College, Effie Panagopoulos is the first Greek woman in history to found a liquor brand.  With a BA in French/Romance Languages, Effie had lofty aspirations of being a UN ambassador, and much to the chagrin of her traditional Greek mother, ended up in the spirits business.  She has over 15 years experience marketing and selling spirits brands in the US from street to executive level, for some of the most well-known brands. (Chambord, Bacardi, Grey Goose, Bombay Sapphire, Metaxa, Disaronno).  She finally became an “ambassador” when courted by Remy Cointreau to be the first (and only to date) National Brand Ambassador for iconic global Greek spirit brand, METAXA. It was this role that brought her back to Greece and re-ignited her love affair with the motherland.  Her “eureka moment” was in 2008, at infamous Mykonos beach bar Nammos, coincidentally written about in VOGUE.com where she decided SHE would be the one to bring this product to the US, and has not only created Greece's first luxury spirit brand, but has eyes set on being the “new” on having a bottle of KLEOS on every bar.  To seek Aristotelean balance and personify her Spartan roots, she is a fitness enthusiast, certified personal trainer, former spinning instructor, and natural bodybuilder.  She can be found deadlifting cases of KLEOS in the summertime, doing bicep curls with bottles of KLEOS, on the Greek islands, while writing bits for her next stand up comedy routine in between sets. She is passionate about mentoring the next generation of female entrepreneurs and supporting women's charitable organizations.Follow Effie Panagopoulos on social media @greekspiritmuse

About HH Bespoke Spirits The award-winning (Time Out New York) bespoke boutique listed as "One of the best places to shop in Harlem" (Racked.com). The "retail expression" of 5001 FLAVORS located in the heart of Harlem, NY opened in 2012. The nearly 2,000 square foot boutique, former home of the late civil rights leader Malcolm X, carries emerging accessory and apparel designers and pays homage to Harlem's rich history and luminaries. Harlem Haberdashery was created by legendary custom-fashion design and styling company 5001 FLAVORS (featured in CNN Films documentary “Fresh Dressed”). Introducing a New Line of Spirits from Harlem's First Family of Fashion HH BESPOKE RUM - is a truly unique blend of aged rums reminiscent of those produced in the 18th century. This expressive and distinctive spirit starts as Grade A molasses, which is distilled in a traditional copper still. It is then aged in both New American Oak and then once-used Bourbon barrels. The result is a distinctive barrel rum extremely rich and complex in flavor, with hints of butterscotch, vanilla, and other exotic notes that please the palate. HH BESPOKE GIN - is a remix on a traditional London Dry style gin, with moderate juniper flavors upfront, which is balanced by an infusion of lavender, rosehip, and plum. Our gin mixes well with everything from simple tonic water to stronger bitter or sweet flavors. HH BESPOKE VODKA - is a grain-based, super-premium vodka of exquisite quality, handmade in small batches. With its crisp and clean taste, HH Bespoke Vodka is a perfect mixer for cocktails or a refreshing drink all by itself. About Enovation Brands We overlay our forward motion with a bit of Old World insight, which is most evident in our commitment to never compromise on quality. From our supplier to their partners in the vineyards, to each and every individual in the Enovation family, we are dedicated to delivering a consistently superb product at an excellent value. We present the same products that we are proud to serve to our families and friends on our tables every day. We present these products in distinctive, eye-catching packaging that wins consumers over at the point of sale and are confident knowing that the quality of the wine inside will create a brand loyalist. About Living Coral Living Coral Sparkling Rosé captures the splendor of a coral reef in every glass poured. The color is reminiscent of the sun's rays breaking the ocean's surface to light up the world below and the bubbly effervescence is evocative of the life contained with this lush undersea world. The bouquet is pleasantly fruity with floral notes and gives way to the concentrated fruit flavors of ripe nectarine and peach balanced by refreshing acidity. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/therosehourpodcast/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/therosehourpodcast/support

"It ain’t just a bourbon. It’s a damn fistful."  We had a great time with Anthony Bohlinger, National Brand Ambassador for Fistful of Bourbon. Fistful of Bourbon is a new, national release bourbon from William Grant & Sons. You may be more familiar with the company known for Scotch brands like Glenfiddich and The Balvenie (as well as Hendrick’s Gin and  Sailor Jerry rum), but this is the company’s first new American Whiskey. Fistful is a blend of five straight American bourbons (five fingers … fist ... fistful, it all makes sense now) that are all aged at least two years.  The blending is a joint effort by Master Blender Brian Kinsman and Kelsey McKechnie, both from William Grant & Sons. The bottle design is a unique one, evoking the Spaghetti Western theme. Learn more about the lifestyle this brand is trying to reflect, one that’s full of fun if you follow Anthony’s Instagram feed. The whiskey recently won a Double Gold at the 2019 International Spirits Challenge.  Find out our thoughts on this 90 proof, $25 bottle of straight bourbon in this week’s episode.  We had a great time with Anthony and appreciate him sharing this whiskey with us.  Fistful of Bourbon will have nationwide distribution and is currently available for about $25 on Drizly.  Learn more about Fistful on their website.  We would appreciate you giving us a 5 star rating on your podcast app and please leave us a written review.
