The speaker, Karan, talks about the pressure to be perfect and fit in, as well as his own experiences with low self-esteem and body issues. He describes a catalyst moment in grade six where he was bullied and felt uncomfortable in his body, which led him to avoid swimming for the next 20 years. He reflects on the idea of perfect and how he no longer believes in it, especially after a friend's passing. He talks about the Dash, the line between the year of birth and death on a tombstone, and how people live in a manufactured version of themselves to please others. He also mentions a story of a woman who goes missing in Iceland after buying a beautiful red dress. She realizes that she doesn't need the validation of others to feel beautiful and confident. She embraces her own unique qualities, without trying to fit into the mold of what others expect from her. In conclusion, Karan's message is about living a life on your own terms, embracing your imperfections, and not striving for perfection or the approval of others. He encourages his audience to have their own catalyst moments, to live in their own dash, and to be true to themselves. https://www.thedentalfestival.com/
Jay Malik is an accountant. He thanks the judges for introducing him and notes that accountants are not as social as people think. He jokes about developing a passion for IRS, but then shares three tips that can help reduce tax burden. The first tip is to get a second opinion on your tax return, as 95% of the dentist clients who sent him their tax returns have overpaid in tax. The second tip is to have a written financial plan that includes tax strategies, as implementing tax strategies without a financial plan may not work as well. The third tip is to be reasonable and have a retirement plan, as many of his clients come to him without a retirement plan and regret it later. https://www.thedentalfestival.com/
Dr. Louis Chmura discusses the importance of a complete diagnosis before giving a patient clear aligners. He emphasizes that bypassing the diagnostic part can lead to leaving correction on the table, leaving a patient with a limited treatment plan. He stresses that a comprehensive diagnosis must include the ABCs: airway, beauty, and occlusion. Dr. Chmura recommends collaboration with orthodontists around the world to expand your market and provide better treatment plans for your patients. Finally, he compares the process to learning to fly a plane and emphasizes the importance of proper training and collaboration. https://www.thedentalfestival.com/
Mr. James Wolfe gave a speech in which he discussed the Rule of 72, a method of taking money and reducing the time it takes to double it from 40 years to three years. He talked about the importance of having money work harder for you and how most people's money is unemployed, meaning it's not working for them. He discussed how taxation can be a big drain on finances and how he teaches his clients to reduce their taxation to increase their profits. He gave an example of how a thousand dollars invested in a project that gives a 24% monthly rate of return can grow to $4 million over 36 months. He encouraged his audience to learn about the Rule of 72 and employ their money to work for them through leverage and the right investments. https://www.thedentalfestival.com/
In Jacob Bruce's speech, he talks about the importance and impact of his mother in his life, sharing personal stories and anecdotes. He also talks about how his mother's strength and resilience during her battle with cancer inspired him and his family. The overall message of the speech seems to be a tribute to the strength, love, and sacrifices of mothers everywhere. He applies relatability to his every business and you can do the same for yours. https://www.thedentalfestival.com/
Dr. Hershell G. Steele gave a talks about antioxidants and dentistry. He discussed three points: (1) the relevance of nutrition and antioxidants for dentistry; (2) why now is a great time to use nutrition in dental practice; and (3) how to implement nutrition in dental practice. Dr. Steele highlighted that nutrition and antioxidants are critical to the development, growth, and maintenance of good teeth, mouth, and airway, and are backed by tens of thousands of scientific articles. He also emphasized that the nutrition business is over a $50 billion per year industry, and over 80% of patients are already taking a supplement, making it a good opportunity for dentists to recommend a good supplement to their patients. To implement nutrition in dental practice, dentists and hygienists can prescribe topical antioxidant gels, vitamin D, and antioxidants for patients undergoing bone surgeries. Patients should be advised to continue taking minimal doses of supplements for at least a year or more to see results. However, choosing supplements should be done carefully, as the FDA minimally regulates them. Dr. Steele advised using laboratories with better quality control standards in place to ensure cosmetic and functional results. https://www.thedentalfestival.com/
In this speech, Garrett Gunderson delivers a humorous presentation about money and taxes. He is the author of a book called "Killing Secret Cows," which he offers to bribe the audience with to sit in the front row. He then jokes about his resemblance to Jesus and shares his passion for comedy and finance. The speaker talks about the importance of finding ways to save on taxes and introduces three buckets: the team, deductions, and classification/reclassification of income. He adds humor to his presentation by making jokes about taxes being no laughing matter and how people would rather die than pay taxes, and he concludes by sharing tax advice that the audience can use to put more money in their pockets. https://www.thedentalfestival.com/
Glenda Acevedo compares the gremlins in the movie Gremlins to the limiting beliefs, negative stories, and debilitating fears that live within us. She had experienced a period of darkness in her life after facing various personal challenges, and eventually hired a life coach to help her get through it. The coach introduced her to the FSI process, which involves defining one's fears, successes, and the cost of inaction. Through this process, Glenda learned to overcome her fears and returned to work by opening her own business. She emphasizes that the FSI process is not a one-time solution, as gremlins will return when facing new challenges, but the process can be repeated to keep the gremlins at bay. https://www.thedentalfestival.com/
Chris Williams shares his story of serving in the US Air Force in Afghanistan and recounts the scariest day of his life when he and his comrades were under attack. He reflects on his experiences and realizes that he does not want to die in combat. After leaving the military, he pursued a career in dentistry and became a hygienist. However, he faced challenges in his first job, where he felt unappreciated by his colleagues. He struggled with this lack of appreciation and respect, but by applying his "love" principles he eventually learned to change the office culture for the better and increased the mutual appreciation of everyone in the office. https://www.thedentalfestival.com/ https://dentalculturecon.com/
The speaker Dr Jiveh is a dentist who believes that happiness is a feeling of service. He feels that his profession gives him the opportunity to make people's day on a daily basis. He mentions that dental school was a powerful experience for him and how the dean wrote "service to mankind" on the chalkboard. Dr. Jiveh reflects on how some patients have a traumatic history with dentistry and how some dentists have a stressful work environment that can lead to burnout. He introduces the concept of "Slow Dentistry" and how it changed his life. He also mentions how his friend is bringing mental health into the conversation in dentistry. He ends the presentation by painting a picture of a different kind of dental experience where the patient is heard, understood, valued, and appreciated. https://www.thedentalfestival.com/
Dr. Mozer, believes that everything in an organization rises and falls on leadership. Influence is an important aspect of leadership. The speaker cites the story of Desmond Doss, an army medic who refused to carry a weapon in World War II and rescued 75 men during a grueling battle, as an example of how one person's service and commitment to their core values can influence an entire company. Leaders come in all shapes and sizes and take action based on serving others. An increase in leadership ability leads to an increase in the ability of the organization to lead, and can positively impact various aspects such as company culture, core values, and profitability. https://www.thedentalfestival.com/
This is a motivational speech given by Dr Shahin Safarian. He shares his experience and mistakes he has made in 21 years of practicing dentistry and emphasizes that life is just one big head game. He states that after graduation, dentists are thrown into the real world without adequate preparation for the challenges of running a business, dealing with money, and leadership skills. He encourages the audience to put themselves in a position where they can be vulnerable in order to excel. He challenges the audience to be accountable for their actions and to look within themselves to understand the power of their decisions and their minds. He emphasizes that understanding accountability is important in order to succeed in life. https://www.thedentalfestival.com/

She also offers three tips for incorporating cosmetics into dental practices. The passage also mentions that the speaker's main goal is to help patients build trust with their dentist and make them comfortable with moving forward with treatment. https://www.thedentalfestival.com/
Dr Jones discusses the importance of paying attention to how we breathe and the effects that it can have on our mental and physical health. It describes an example of a dental team member who had chronic headaches and poor oral health, which was discovered to be related to her habit of mouth breathing. Research suggests that nasal breathing is healthier and can improve overall wellness, and that the nose is designed to filter and disinfect the air that we breathe. Also, that mouth breathing can cause the airways to become narrower, which is a problem for humans that are already growing smaller airways due to evolution and lifestyle changes. https://www.thedentalfestival.com/
Amanda, is a registered dental hygienist who has experienced burnout multiple times in her career. She previously worked in surgery for 15 years before becoming a dental hygienist and then experienced burnout again. To address this, she went back to school to get her bridge master's degree with a focus on burnout. She discussed that burnout is a common issue in the dental field and suggested that instead of focusing on the negative, individuals should focus on why they went into the profession in the first place and the positive impact they can make on their patients. She also highlighted the many different career options available in the dental field such as becoming a public speaker or starting one's own business. https://www.thedentalfestival.com/
