Did you know that after you graduate dental hygiene school, you are still not considered a registered dental hygienist? Well, unless you take and pass all of your state/national board exams first! I had an interesting discussion with a student that I tutor for the national board exams. She stated she did not know she would need to take a board exam when she decided to go to dental hygiene school! After this discussion, I decided I needed to share ALL of the steps that it takes to become a registered dental hygienist in your state. In this conversation, Renata Nehme and Hilary Bilkis discuss craniosacral therapy and its benefits. Hilary explains that craniosacral therapy is a gentle hands-on technique that helps balance the bones, membranes, and fluids in the skull, spinal cord, and connective tissue system of the body. The training for craniosacral therapy is usually a series of four-day workshops, and practitioners often have a background in massage therapy or other touch-based professions. The therapy can be beneficial for people of all ages, from babies to adults, and can help with a variety of issues such as breastfeeding difficulties, torticollis, anxiety, unregulated emotions, and chronic pain. The therapy works by quieting and regulating the nervous system, releasing tension in the body, and promoting overall well-being. It is not a massage and is performed with the client fully clothed. The frequency of sessions varies but is typically weekly for a few weeks, followed by less frequent sessions.____________________________________________________________________________________________ABOUT OUR GUEST: Hilary D. Did you know that your tongue may be the strongest muscle in your body? The tongue has 16 muscles and never stops moving even while you sleep. If you're like most people, you were not aware of this fact nor were you aware that proper positioning of the tongue in the roof of your mouth and nasal breathing can improve circulatory and respiratory issues such as asthma and COPD as well as fibromyalgia, ADHD, migraines and so much more. In this episode of Six Weeks to Fitness, I am joined by Becca Rose, the owner of Myofunctional Pathways, LLC. She is a Myofunctional Therapist, Certified Butayko Breathing Instructor, Sleep Coach and Registered Dental Hygienist. Since a very young age, Becca has exhibited an interest in oral health and dental topics. She has been in the dental field since 2004. When she learned about Myofunctional Therapy, the "AH HA" moment happened. She realized that this was the missing piece to some of the symptoms she had experienced in her life. And so the journey began. Since then, she has improved many of her own myofunctional concerns. Now she has the experience and first hand knowledge to help her patients find the missing link to many of their symptoms with determination to find the root cause. “Often, THE TONGUE is the root cause and it is most often the last thing anyone ever thinks of.” Her clients have gained significant, life changing improvements of symptoms! Becca also has an 8 week Performance and Recovery program.
