I'm joined by Jeff Garlin, a man with a big heart and a lot to say. You'll know him from Curb and loads of other stuff. I had this chat a little while back. I'm never truly sure why I go months without doing a show. I think it has a lot to do with the fact nobody reaches out to me to talk to me about the show in anyway at all and for the amount of work I put into the pod verses the love I get back it's not worth it. This will likely be the last show for another long while. I'm only doing this one to support my friend Tristan who has got a great short filn coming out more of that now. Tristan is the first guest on the podcast. We talk about his involvement with Kingsdown. Kingsdown is a short film that takes aim at the immigration crisis currently unfolding across the southern shores of the U.K. It's a fantastic short film. Mark Beaumont! Many years I lay in my bed dreaming of having my various bands reviewed by Mark. It never happened because we didn't have what it takes! We didn't I tell you! However Mark did and does. He's been there from touring with Blur to breaking some of the coolest most musically inspired bands of several generations. He's had the highs and lows that really makes for a bloody brilliant story. He's currently writing his ass off so find his work! As some of you will know I spoke with Nathaniel Rich about his book Losing Earth. In the book Rafe features very heavily in the battle to bring Climate Change into the politcal machine. It's been a very trying few weeks with sleep deprivation and mental health challenges. We're also away in the West Country so I couldn't put a show together. I found out how she was able to bring her character to life so powerfully and memorably. We talk about her life growing up and how so much of Maid is deeply personal to her. This week I catch up with Julian Sancton. Julian has written a remarkable book about the Beligica exploration 1897 and the journey she and her crew went on in search of the magnetic south. This is a story of triumph over disaster and disaster over triumph. Julian wrote part of this during lockdown so it's quite a fitting read at times. Also it's not a hard sell this book; it simply romps along bringing an entirely new dimension to exploration that has yet been told. It's cinematic in its scale and mind blowing in its brutality. I had to read this book after Michael Palin told me too and I'm glad I did. If you haven't then I do recommend HMS Erebus a book about a ship by Michael Palin and also Endurance the story about Shackleton's truly heroic escape from the jaws of Antartica. It was a heroic age with men from so many different backgrounds and mindsets.

This week on The Limehouse Podcast I speak with Michael Bradley of The Undertones. Michael has a truly fantastic book out; Teenage Kicks my life as an Undertone. I read it in a few days and loved it's boyish love of the band and the journey they all went on. Its gritty, funny and thoughtful. Chris Difford is a douche bag.

This week I check in with Sean from Atmosphere AKA Slug. Sean happens to be one the nicest men in Hip Hop and.....it's true! We talk about his journey within Rhymesayers {The incredible record lable} and Atmosphere not to mention our own political and societal views points. This week I touch base with Courtney Taylor Taylor. Courtney, as you'll know, is the frontman for The Dandy Warhols. The Dandys were a huge influence on many bands coming up in the late 90's and into the early 00's. They're still making awesome music to this very dayt! They had break through singles that paid huge respect to incredible influences whilst still remaining truly magnetic and unique. I loved this conversation. We had fun. You will to. I fell quite heavily for his book The Erebus a story about a ship and have subsequently spent many weeks since exploring other books about expeditions in the 19th and 20th Century. Michael and I talk about HMS Erebus and those that sailed on her. She had incredible voyages and the most mysterious end to any expedition in maritime history. We go deep into the murky icey waters of Captain Franklin and Captain Crosier. Personally it was a great pleasure to spend time with one of the great travel writers of all time. This week I spoke with Laura Jean Marsh- Laura is an actor, writer and director. Her debut film Giddy Stratosheres was released last week and the reviews are coming in and they're ruddy bloody marvellous! The film is set in 2007 amdist the central characters struggle with drug addiction and personal loss. Although it has a rather dark central narrative it has some hilarious dialoge with a cameo from Richard Herring! This is her first film and its a remarkable effort for a first attempt when you consider the unbelievable amounts of pressure it takes to get something out there like this! Paul Mason is best known for his remarkable ability to present news as if his life depends upon it, with a passion and flare that we all love and cherish. Beyond that Paul is a writer and politcal activist. We really connect and discuss facism, climate change and the Labour Party, not forgetting our Prime Minister of course. Also why is the BBC weather app so bloody innacurate? It drives me up the ruddy bloody wall! It changes from full sun to cloud and rain in a day! Forget it alright?! Just forget it! Also how much dog fur can one dog produce in a day; its as if they're trying to mark their territory using fluff. Its insane! Also why are The Tories in power? I can't get my head around it. Literally can't understand it. Such a nasty bunch, so grim! Not all Tories mind you but that cabinet, errrr just so much nasty politics. Self serving cretins.

His book 'Tom Pett'y is one of my favourite reads. It's honest and pretty hard hitting. This week I'm joined by my very old friend Dan Howard. Dan and I go way way back further than time itself. That's not true, it's probably about twenty years. ANYWAY Dan is the presenter, founder and man behind YouTube channel Camp life Bushcraft. So for roughly an hour we talk about modern day business strategy, no we don't. We talk about the outdoor life! It's amazing. It was great to listen to a man that's so relaxed and in love with what he does. It's back to nature once again.
