I'm back with more amazing artist interviews I did at Bumbershoot Arts and Music Festival in Seattle over Labor Day weekend and this episode couldn't be more fun. I start off with the amazing Valerie June -- Grammy-nominated artist, author, poet and yogi. He lighthearted spirit and zest for life is in full force, and she's here to talk to me about spreading joy, love and tapping into one's unique creative self. Next up is Courtney Taylor and Pete Holmström of The Dandy Warhols, who have been making their special brand of eclectic and enigmatic music for more than 25 years. We head down myriad roads -- veering off on multiple detours along the way -- in this compelling exploration of what it takes to continue to unlock new doors in the alternate musical universe they inhabit.I then sit down with Nigerian-born Canadian artist DEBBY FRIDAY, whose debut album released in March, GOOD LUCK, has propelled her into a new orbit. Debby talks to me about what an amazing and groundbreak year this has been and how taking her artistry on the road has helped her mature as an artist.I round out this exciting episode with Evan Smith of local Seattle band, The Dip. Evan came to Seattle to study music at the University of Washington where he met fellow his bandmates to form The Dip. I talk to Evan about how the band has developed moved from playing houseparties to embarking on national tours with Lake Street Dive and then touring Europe with the likes of Durand Jones. It's been an amazing ride!!For more information on Roadcase: https://linktr.ee/roadcasepod and https://www.roadcasepod.comContact: info@roadcasepod.comRoadcase theme music: "Eugene (Instrumental)" by Waltzer

From Athletes Unlimited: SPARKS, Md. — Goalkeeper Taylor Moreno became the first player in any Athletes Unlimited sport to claim consecutive titles after edging attacker Sam Apuzzo to win the 2023 Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse title after an exciting finish at USA Lacrosse Headquarters on Sunday afternoon. Moreno, who secured the championship as a rookie last summer, beat out Apuzzo for the second straight year to finish atop the 57-player leaderboard with 1,679 points. Apuzzo, who claimed her third straight medalist honor, followed with 1,667 points. Goalkeeper Kady Glynn secured third place with 1,346 points while rookie defender Abby Bosco finished fourth with 1,301 points. Bosco, the first defender in league history to earn a medal, was named as the Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Year, while goalkeeper Mira Shane earned the Teammate of the Year award in a vote of the league's players. Defenders Lizzie Colson, Courtney Taylor and Caroline Wakefield joined Bosco as members of the league's All-Defensive Team. Athletes Unlimited also announced that it will continue with a fourth season of lacrosse in 2024. Details regarding timing and location will be announced at a later date. After setting the league single-season saves record last summer, Moreno eclipsed her standard this season by pacing the league with 140 saves over 12 games, including eight outings with 10 or more saves. She also established a new single-game record with 17 saves against Team Apuzzo on July 30. To commemorate her victory, Moreno will receive a medal designed and hand-fabricated by Lisa Issenberg, founder of Kiitellä, inc. Kiitellä is a Finnish word meaning “to thank, applaud or praise,” and Issenberg creates awards that are innovative, mixed-media, non-traditional works of art, pieces that celebrate accomplishment, humanity, and philanthropy. Kiitellä is committed to being a responsible steward of our environment, with each step in the process, from design to fabrication to delivery, using minimal energy and material. Athletes Unlimited will also commission a portrait of Moreno for its Champions Collection, which features emerging artists whose work and approach speaks to the mission and values of Athletes Unlimited. The portrait will be created by Graham Martini, a 2022 graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art. The Charleston, South Carolina, native creates contemplative, fantastical, otherworldly and psychological pieces in the form of still lives, figurative and abstract works. His surreal still lives and figurative images reveal the sense that time and associative reasoning do not operate in a linear fashion. Martini depicts this idea through the representation of simultaneity through collage-like compositions as well as transmutational objects – entities that seemingly change form. “I'm super grateful to have the opportunity to even come out here and win another [title], but it's also a testament to my teammates and all of the support that I've had over the last two years,” Moreno said. “I am super grateful for that and can't thank everyone enough for being so supportive.” --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/lax-all-stars/message

On this episode, we talked about: Absorbing the world around me Having an honest message Trusting your inner knowing Trusting our intuition Distinguish between ego and intuition "We find our people by being honest, unapologetic and saying what we need to say" "It's inevitable that people are going to fall off our journey, and that's okay" "We don't ever give ourselves the chance to listen to what we want and desire" About Courtney: I started off my career in Hollywood as a publicist when I was 18. I knew I was meant for something far bigger than what I had known and I thought I'd find it there... Fast forward, I was discovered as The Modern Day Psychic by one of Canada's largest newspaper publications. I learned everything I could, about my unique gifts and what I had always known, now made complete sense. I have always been an old soul in a young body. As many of you know, my spirit-guide Darcy has been with me through it all. She's also helped me weave the beautiful impact I had and knowledge I gained from social work, with my psychic gifts and leadership skills. I have gone to speak on world stages, been featured in the media numerous times and know the intricacies of what it's like to have success and fame in the public eye. I am so honored you are here - connecting with me - and look forward to the journey we have together!
Wise management and conservation of rangelands in the future will require knowledge from the hard-earned experience of those near retirement and the fresh and uninhibited ideas of young professionals. However, reaching across these generations of ideas and experiences can be challenging. This final plenary will be a thought-provoking discussion that highlights the value of combining well-lived experiences with youthful insight. Tim Murphey, retired rangeland and fire professional, will describe the concepts he has learned that will be valuable to plot a path into the future of rangeland management. Courtney Taylor, student and rancher, will highlight the insight that young professionals can bring to power innovation and engage the next generation of rangeland managers. Tracy Kupchenko will moderate this discussion based on her pivotal experiences in working with both youth and well-worn ranchers and rangeland managers. Courtney Taylor grew up on a cattle ranching operation near Warner, Alberta, Canada. Always ambitious and a self- starter, she was running her own profitable on-farm businesses including a small sheep flock and orphan calf operation by age 10. Through her family operation, she was introduced to the art of rangeland management, and then while attending the Southern Alberta Youth Range Days camp, she further explored the science behind beneficial management practices, potential careers, and opportunities associated with rangelands. Her first exposure to the Society for Range Management was through the High School Youth Forum, then again at the University level, participating in the student conclave and competitions like the Undergraduate Range Management Exam and Extemporaneous Speaking event. She is currently attending the University of Saskatchewan and continues to run several of her business initiatives including a small bull operation specializing in genetics that will sustain the extensive winter grazing and spring/summer calving utilized on the ranch. Needless to say, that as far back as she can remember, she has grown and continues to foster a deep respect for her animals and the land on which her family cattle ranch depends. Tim Murphy is recognized for his long and impactful career in rangeland and fire management. Tim completed a bachelor's degree in rangeland management from the University of Wyoming and after graduation Tim began a 39-year career in rangeland and natural resources management. Tim's career began as a range technician with the Bridger-Teton National Forest and shortly thereafter he joined the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) at the Green River Resource Area managing public rangelands in southwest Wyoming, followed by supervising a range, wild horse, and soils team at BLM's Caliente Resource Area, Nevada. Tim went on to management positions with BLM in New Mexico at the Carlsbad and then Las Cruces Resource Areas followed by a District Manager assignment at Miles City, Montana. Throughout his assignments Tim was active in wildland fire management as a firefighter and was called upon to inform national policy through the results of his leadership involving fatality and serious accident investigation teams. Tim went on to Boise, Idaho as the Director of Fire and Aviation at the National Interagency Fire Center followed by becoming the BLM Idaho State Director. After retiring from the BLM, he has remained active in promoting wise land management that supports local economies and healthy landscapes. Tim is currently chairman of the Idaho Fish and Game Commission. TRANSCRIPT available at https://artofrange.com/episodes/aor-104-srm-keynote-address-working-across-eras-courtney-taylor-tim-murphy.

Are you ready to have all of your EMF questions answered? This week we're speaking to Courtney Taylor. Courtney is a freebirth mom to two children, and she works as a researcher and customer support provider for BluShield USA. In this episode, we'll hear Courtney's two birth stories, and then we'll spend the remainder of the show answering the listener questions submitted regarding EMFSs. Courtney does such an incredible job of breaking this information down in a way that's both understandable and empowering. Episode Roundup: Courtney shared about the fact that nature never repeats the same pattern consistently. In fact, it never repeats itself exactly! This repetition, which is found in harmful EMFs, is what actually causes our bodies to be on guard. BluShield's mitigation products, like nature, provide a variety of frequencies that allow our body to enter safety. Another incredibly important topic that Courtney covered is the idea of taking responsibility for our own health. Courtney did this in terms of her birth experience: giving birth free birth unassisted with her first baby. She felt so strong and confident in her decisions, and she chose not o outsource t her health. It's the exact same when it comes to her journey with EMFs. Finally, we must remember: Let's do our best. Let's do what we can to protect our families, and then let's not stress about the rest. Additional stress and fear is only going to cause more inflammation, more chronic illnesses, and more acute illnesses. For me, this involves trusting the Lord--trusting that He is the true source of provision and protection. I'm doing my part, and then letting go--having an hand open with the rest.
