In which The Curmudgeons introduce you--again--to your new favorite band. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club spliced the neo-psychedelic swagger of bands like The Brian Jonestown Massacre with the rawkin' menace of the Stone Roses, Oasis and other British bands to offer a maximal yet poignant vision of what rock 'n' roll should be. Their five-album output during the first decade of the 21st century is one of the best streaks of releases in recent memory. We analyze each album as a means of explaining why B.R.M.C. was so powerful--and so ultimately meaningful. this weekend's Austin Psych Fest is nearly upon us and while it is tempting to weigh in on such important subjects like “do you have to remove your floppy hat before going thru the metal detectors?” and “how do the Night Beats still exist”, I'll instead publicly state (not for the first time) that I am unprepared to tell the story about the time I was physically ejected from a Black Rebel Motorcycle club show in Las Vegas for heckling the band. Simply put, I am saving this sage for my own book, a tome which will solely concern the events and circumstances surrounding my physical ejection from a Black Rebel Motorcycle club show in Las Vegas for heckling the band. I realize some of you probably think this is a rather flimsy premise for a book that might be as long as 600 pages, but if Mike Pompeo can get away with (however long his stupid book is) blathering on about his weight loss secrets and his boner for Israel, I'm pretty sure I've got him (and everyone else) beat.
With the beginning of November comes 2 major events here in the US that we decided to Frankenstein together… Hence, Election Day Of The Dead! Join us as we wax poetically about political wax. No matter what side you are on (the ass, the pachyderm, or the angry anarchist), we can all come together to celebrate those that have passed on and rock out to some politically charged rock n' punk n' metal! What is it we do here at InObscuria? Every show Kevin opens the crypt to exhume and dissect from his personal collection; an artist, album, or collection of tunes from the broad spectrum of rock, punk, and metal. Robert is forced to test his endurance and provide feedback, as he has no idea what he will be subjected to every week. Our hope is that we turn you on to something that was lost on your ears, or something you've simply forgotten about, or that (in our opinion) should have been the next big thing.Songs this week include:Bear Vs. In this episode of Influenced, we take a look into the careers of the always cool, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (BRMC). Formed in the late '90s by musicians Robert Levon Been and Peter Hayes (formerly of the psych rockers the Brian Jonestown Massacre). They wanted to combine a love of the classic heavy hitting blues of bands like Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath with the more forward thinking sounds of artists like My Bloody Valentine and the Jesus and Mary Chain. With a number of different drummers and musicians helping the band craft their sound (like Michael Been, Rob's Father and former frontman of the '80s classic band The Call) the band rose to the heights of the 2000s indie rock boom with artists like the Strokes, The Vines, and White Stripes. Unlike many of their peers in that scene, BRMC have continued over the decades influencing other bands that are drawn to the more psychedelic side of things like the Black Angels and Death From Above 1979. BRMC continue to push the envelope for alternative bands into the current decade and have already left an incredible career in their wake. Check out this episode of Influenced to go deeper on one of the coolest bands in the business. Follow Us Here: https://www.instagram.com/influenced.podcast/

This week I'm joined by Peter Hayes. You'll likely know Peter from his time as part of the band Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Peter was incredibly generous with his time and so engaged it almost took me off guard! Most guest aren't like this, they can be brilliant but not always as thoughtful and in the moment. We talk BRMC, writing music, touring, politics and much more. If you haven't then get into a BRMC binge, like I have, you won't regret it because frankly now I know what happened to my rock n roll. Enjoy! I'm on Twitter: @limehousepod instagram; the limehouse podacast you can find Peter on Instagram and BRMC on twitter and Instagram!

Chris sits down with Leah Shapiro and Peter Hayes - two thirds of the rock trio Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. For those not already familiar with the band, BRMC has been cranking out dark, gritty, authentic rock and roll for over 20 years. If you're a fan of the band and you ever wanted to hang and really get to know the incredible musicians behind the music this is your day. It was a great conversation. The idea began as a roundtable of 5 questions each from me and my guests, Jared Artaud & Brian MacFadyan from The Vacant Lots and Leah Shapiro & Peter Hayes of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. It quickly became less formal than that and more conversational. We recorded for well over three hours and it was a lot of fun. I heard about cleverness in songwriting can backfire. There's a possible future for Leah & Jared in writing musical scores for boxing matches. Pete loved the silent song in Pootie Tang. And Brian is rebuilding Star Wars synths.Follow us all on social media. Please help support these artists. Their music is great and they have been so kind to this little podcast. I want to give them a huge, personal Thank You for all the time they gave me. I won't waste any more time. Let's get right into 5 Questions with Jared & Brian of The Vacant Lots & Leah & Pete of BRMC.This show is part of Pantheon Podcasts.

Based between New York City and Los Angeles respectively, Andy and KAV have been working on new music together and have debuted their first track "Hey Christo" last year, which has been described as "big driving tracks, guitar hooks, heavy beats, loops and live drums. The Call were one of the preeminent alternative bands of the 80s and early 90s. They never quite cracked the top 40, but had several hits on college radio like "Let The Day Begin", "Everywhere I Go" and "The Walls Came Down". Regular listeners know of my affection for the Lost Boys soundtrack, well they were the originators of "I Still Believe" which was covered excellently by former guest Tim Cappello (there's a great story about it in here). The band came to an end in the 90s and frontman Michael Been focused his attention on helping his son Robert's band Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (one of my favorite bands of the last 20 years) get going. Unfortunately, after a BRMC gig on August 19, 2010 Michael died suddenly of a heartattack, bringing a tragic end to a great band. This week we talk to Call keyboardist Jim Goodwin about life in the band, the aftermath of Michael's death, and what he's been doing since. Enjoy! http://www.the-call-band.com/

A large number of Midlands members are interested in Circuit Racing with Donington Park, Mallory Park, and Rockingham Speedway being located within the region and Silverstone, Cadwell and Loton on the periphery. We have a strong interest in Karting and an active rally marshalling section. The Midland region is a favourite playground for sporting car trials and the BMMC is actively involved in hill climbs and sprints at Curborough, MIRA and Shelsley Walsh. The BMMC has a special section for those more interested in rallying, the British Rally Marshals Club. The BRMC's structure is similar to the BMMC and is dedicated to improving the training of all rally marshals. For more information click on the BRMC logo above.
