A favorite TPC Episode of season two was the “Characters of the Chronicles” interview with Bob Basler, author of the  online literary work, 5 AM Stories. He was one of The Chronicles creator& host's closest childhood buddies from the Ol' Neighborhood & is now a good friend after reconnecting over the last several years. When he first joined the TPC mike back in May of 2023, his entertaining weekly post had just launched to a small but appreciative readership and our back & forth was memorable and great fun. TPC Episode 303 catches up with Bob after 70+ posts with over 60,000 downloads, easily found by googling “5am Stories” or going straight to the website ,  robertbasler.substack.comBut with this TPC Show you'll hear from Bob off the cuff, guided, often unsuccessfully by the host. Again the conversation is lively & at times a bit off center, reflected by the variety & scope of topics that arise and the subsequent observations voiced. It's a most enjoyable & entertaining listen. #indynostalgia, #60snostalgia, #50snostalgia, #schoolnostalgia,#storytelling

And while the message didn't change, their methods took Bible stories off of flannel graphs & out of terry cloth bath robes skits, to circles  around campfires, living rooms and soda shops. In the process, faith became real and hope became possible. In Episode 217 TPC interviews a veritable veteran of youth work in the 60's, the Mad Scot, Derek Wallace. Over the years he impacted hundreds of kids in his role as Youth Minister at E 49th St Christian Church, (later E 91st St) & Urban Director of Indianapolis Young Life. He shares about both and why he served in each, and if if you don't know Derek, maybe you'll understand thAT special influencer in YOUR life, just a little better if you had one. Riverside Amusement Park in Indianapolis closed for good in 1970 & was demolished in 1978. It's place among the city's attractions gone but not forgotten is revisited in this installment of The Primrose Chronicles podcast lore. So sit back and listen as host & narrator, Marty Young, recalls the sights, sounds & smells of the Circle City's singular place for thrill rides for over 60 years. The episode takes a sobering turn at the end as Marty acknowledges and briefly engages in a story reflecting his realization, all be it late,  of the sad and embarrassing reality of racism in the park's operation which some would say also led to its demise. It hoped the entire history of Riverside can be recognized for what it was and, in the listening, serve as a cautionary and directive tale that can help bring together hearts and lives as all are children of God. Enjoy & blessings!!!

There's a lot of history that took place in a pharmacy. OK, not “a lot” but enough to hopefully draw the listener into this wistful tale about a staple of any mid-century neighborhood, the corner drug store. Not just the Rx provider for families in the 50's & 60's. Its  aisles & shelves were a local connection with the greater world abroad. Don't believe that?  Then I challenge you to download, listen in & decide for yourself. I can, at least, assure you of an enjoyable half hour of memories. Blessings. —Don't forget to FOLLOW The Primrose Chronicles Facebook page & then become a member of The Fans of The Primrose Chronicles FB page

The host and narrator of this Primrose Chronicles series will admit this was the installment he was most looking forward to writing, recording and sharing. It is a story that centers on ONE day, Sept 3, 1964 when Indianapolis, IN became the hub and heart of the contemporary music scene, hosting not one but two concerts of the Beatles. This is a first person account of one teens very special personal encounter with The Fab Four that day. It is hoped his special recollections will prompt the same in many others, and with them a smile remembering a time long past. Enjoy & blessings

After a month long forced hiatus, The Primrose Chronicles is back with an installment celebrating a vanished occupation, the neighborhood "Paper Boy".  Host and narrator, Marty Young, fondly remembers the aspects of this now removed segment of daily life in the mid-2oth century, the newspaper carrier, a first job for many and a very necessary provider of information outside their immediate surroundings.Bringing the world into homes by newsprint, many customers had no idea the scope to activity and responsibility a "Newsie had.   Even if only in a small way, Marty pays tribute by recounting some of his own experiences for any who will listen in. Enjoy and blessings

The summers of the 50's and 60's, for preteen boys anyway, were filled with their first experience  with our Nation's Pastime, baseball, largely through organization of Little League. This week's episode briefly shares  one member of the Primrose Clan's 4 years of participation in this iconic sports program, and , though somewhat generic, the tales should resonate with many who recall trying to navigate the sometimes choppy waters of skill development. Apologies for the audio quality. An upcoming move across country by the host & narrator necessitated a last minute move from his full audio studio to a bedroom closet. It should still make for fun experience. Blessings
