Hey ho, let's go! This week, we're all about one of the most influential, important, and let's not forget, fun , bands of the era - Ramones. Joining us for our discussion is Dana Bonn and Carl Cafarelli from This Is Rock ‘n' Roll Radio, airing Sunday nights from 9:00 pm - midnight ET on Syracuse's SPARK! WSPJ 103.3 and 93.7 FM, featuring the "best three hours of radio on the whole friggin' planet". Carl is also an incredibly gifted music scribe, writing the must-read daily music blog Boppin' (Like The Hip Folks Do) and in many fine publications. Relevant to today's topic, He has also published Gabba Gabba Hey! A Conversation with the Ramones, culled from his interviews with the band. His latest book, The Greatest Record Ever Made (Volume 1), features insightful, passionate, humorous essays on 145 of his favorite songs across all genres. The Ramones were an American punk rock band formed in New York City in 1974. Known for helping establish the punk movement in the United States and elsewhere, the Ramones are often cited as the first true punk rock band. The Ramones ranked number 26 in Rolling Stone magazine's 2004 list of the "100 Greatest Artists of All Time and number 17 in VH1's 2012 television series 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock. In 2002, the Ramones were ranked the second-greatest band of all time by Spin, trailing only the Beatles. On March 18, 2002, the original four members and Tommy's replacement on drums, Marky Ramone, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in their first year of eligibility. In 2011, the group was awarded a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. (Thanks, Wikipedia.) It's another Character of the Chronicles conversation. This time We hear from a someone who knew one of Rock & Roll Radio Royalty in Indianapolis — the eldest son of WIBC's Bouncin' Bill Baker, Art Baker. Art shares stories & reflections of his father, not just the zany personality of his morning show, but also the hard work & long hours devoted, The result, I think, provides a rich opportunity to appreciate what Bill Baker meant to so many whether on the air, at the sock hops or battles of the bands. An important announcement about The Primrose Chronicles' future comes at this episode's conclusion. Enjoy. #indynostalgia, #60snostalgia, #50snostalgia, #schoolnostalgia,#storytelling

Please join us in welcoming Arielle Eden to our studio to chat with Heart of Indie Radio Host: Captain Eddie NYC-based singer-songwriter Arielle Eden is a sensitive and sassy pop-country artist whose songs have the ability to feel uplifting even when they're revealing hard truths. Her singular musicality bursts with bold vulnerability, well-crafted stories, clever hooks, and instantly-memorable songcraft. Arielle's songs live in that infectious intersection of pop, country, Americana, and folk, and she has garnered favorable comparisons to Leann Rimes and early Taylor Swift. Today, Arielle is embracing a fresh era of musical self-discovery working between New York and Nashville, writing and co-writing with a bevy of producers, songwriters, and musicians. The first taste of her epiphanic new sound is the harmony-lavished pop-country single, “Signs and Signals,” out March 25th. The track was co-written and produced by hit songwriter and Grammy-nominated producer Forest Glen Whitehead (Kelsea Ballerini, Mickey Guyton, Brandy Clark). “Signs and Signals” will be the title track of Arielle's upcoming EP to be released later this summer. This upcoming milestone release, the Signs and Signals EP, explores an ill-fated romance from a variety of careless and carefree emotional perspectives. “ Arielle has previously released four singles and two music videos for which she's garnered widespread press. Carl Cafarelli of “This is Rock N' Roll Radio” gushes that Arielle's music is “modern pop with classic sass.” Amelia Vandergast has described her catchy tunes as “empowering high-vibe synth-pop” and singled out her choruses by saying they “stick to your synapses like superglue.” In addition, Arielle's songs have also been featured nationally and internationally on prime indie radio.
The Golden Voice, the mellifluous tones I could listen to all day, speaks to me over the cicadas at Latta Nature Preserve (her happy place). We laugh and almost cry and talk about the time she almost died in an ER and why the US Healthcare system turns its back on women, especially mothers of color. And we summon the ancestors - especially the mothers of mothers of mothers of mothers of…you know, the matriarchy. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
