Jobs are like relationships! The Double Pandemic! One is new, deadly and the world is frantically looking for a cure or vaccine to guide the curve to zero and eliminate the likelihood or impacts of additional strains. The other has been going on since 1619 against our ancestors, friends and families, livelihood, and survival. No cure or vaccine has ever been able to address it nor have we been able to mitigate its evolution over time. The world is watching and most seek the cure. We’re struggling to focus, deliver, and excel because both pandemics impact everything from our feelings of safety to how we show up as Leaders in our organizations. Let’s have the conversation around how we can acknowledge our feelings during this time while keeping our eyes on the prize.

A discussion around how communication styles and sounds impact whose voice gets heard and why. Dialect based on geography, culture, religion… and of course race and sex. Who gains respect and trust? Do men's voices project a different type of confidence or authority? Do I sound like a black girl on the phone? What does that even mean? Do we already know what confidence, competence, and authority sound like… or are we just listening for what's familiar? Is linguistic style another version of bias that needs to be identified, discussed and addressed or simply acknowledged?
Shirley Chisholm famously said..."If they don't give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair." No matter what level, we show up at our organizations bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, excited to bring value, make a difference and establish our seat at the table. But what happens when the seat that you've worked so hard to establish is jeopardized because you've excelled outside of the box that someone else has pre-defined for you? Chelsea and Shaundra discuss what it means to always bring your A+ game to your organization, but every now and then you encounter a situation where your intellect, drive, and VOICE appear to make others uncomfortable.

You DO NOT want to miss this episode as we discuss how your inner critic can cause or elevate the impacts of Impostor Syndrome.
