The naming rights partner of the Super Netball league and its two-point shot has pulled the pin on a 10-year sponsorship deal, so are we worried? There has also been some important budget cuts to the Aussie Diamonds' program for the Commonwealth Games that means the reserves won't get to travel abroad to help the team prepare for Glasgow. Round 13 results saw the Adelaide Thunderbirds secure the minor premiership and our top four locked in for finals. It's an exciting time for the Melbourne Mavericks who have never gone this deep in the competition before and we ponder whether they could be the danger team that could shake up the end results.
Adelaide Thunderbirds co-captain Georgie Horjus is a real fan favourite amongst Super Netball fans and it's not hard to understand why. A Kangaroo Island local that came up through the ranks in South Australia, she takes pride in representing her home state. The team has sat in the top two for the first 10 rounds this season and Georgie shares her thoughts on their star import recruits for 2026 — Elmeré van der Berg and Kate Heffernan. The Aussie Diamonds national contracts are also due to be announced in the next fortnight as we near the Glasgow Commonwealth Games and Georgie speaks about how it's long been a dream of hers to play at the major tournament.
The original Jamaican import Romelda Aiken-George set a new record, reaching 255 National League Games, overtaking a 12-year record held by Cath Cox. Round 10 gave us some interesting results, with the Sunshine Coast Lightning handing the Melbourne Vixens their first loss of the 2026 season. That gave the Adelaide Thunderbirds a chance to steal the number one spot on the ladder.

At the halfway point of the 2026 season, the Melbourne Vixens and Adelaide Thunderbirds continue to impress at the top of the ladder. Meanwhile, the dance for fourth spot is still happening between the Melbourne Mavericks and Sunshine Coast Lightning. We also discuss the sudden resignation of Netball Australia chief executive, Stacey West, who leaves the role after a two and a half year tenure.
Six rounds in and we have a new ladder leader. It was the match we'd all been waiting for and in their first meeting of 2026, the Melbourne Vixens surprised the Adelaide Thunderbirds shooters by injecting Jo Weston into goal keeper. The rest is history. The other big thing to note of course, was netball's new broadcast agreement, as we switch back from Fox Sports to Nine for the next five years. A good deal? Or is it like going back to a shitty ex? We explore all the details left off the announcement that fans need to know.

The final round of the regular season delivered our first extra-time match for 2025 and determined the four semi-finalists set to battle it out for the trophy: West Coast Fever, NSW Swifts, Adelaide Thunderbirds and Melbourne Vixens. The news is out. The world's best goal keeper is pregnant and will miss the rest of the 2025 Super Netball season. But did the Adelaide Thunderbirds start the ongoing speculation about Shamera Sterling-Humphrey by bringing her replacement to Australia so early? The Giants upset the Thunderbirds, the Vixens continued their dominance in the Melbourne Derby, the Fever pinched a win late against the Lightning and the Swifts defeated the Firebirds to go eight points clear at the top of the ladder. The ANZ Premiership is also about to start in New Zealand and despite there being real concerns about the future of the competition, we are very excited to have it back. The 2025 Super Netball season has officially started and boy, do we feel like we're in for another big year of netty! As once again, the competition broke crowd records in round one.Jamaican imports Romelda Aiken-George and Shamera Sterling-Humphrey were cleared to play for the Adelaide Thunderbirds after being under an injury cloud in the pre-season. Their team will need them if they're to chase a historic three-peat. We do wonder what this means for Proteas defender Sanmarie Visser though? Would she have been better playing at home in the South African league? Plus, there is breaking news at the West Coast Fever about replacement shooter Mwai Kumwenda. Our interview this week is with new Queensland Firebirds import Imogen Allison after she made her debut down under. Before we catch up on round four of the UK Super League.

The Adelaide Thunderbirds are the Super Netball champions of 2024 after winning back-to-back premiership titles. They were victorious over the Melbourne Vixens, 59-57, who were courageous until the final whistle. There was nothing in the game, it was a real arm-wrestle and everything you would hope a grand final at this level would be. The win for the Thunderbirds cemented their undefeated record at home this season. For the Vixens, it is back to the drawing board with the knowledge they took it to the best team this year, and almost came away with a fairy tale finish. An MVP performance by 35-year-old veteran, Romelda Aiken-George, was a highlight of the grand final. Leading the Thunderbirds to the trophy off just two hours sleep mind you as her daughter was unwell the night before. After being let go by the Firebirds in 2022 after 14 years service, she has found her place at the top of the sport once more and is thriving in Adelaide.

Super Netball fans have stepped it up a gear this year and they're breaking records all over the place. Crowds, memberships, you name it. The sport is experiencing a huge boom in popularity across the board. So why is this happening? Is it the Matildas' effect? We take a deep dive into this topic. Plus, we analyse each of the Round 14 matches and the Adelaide Thunderbirds minor premiership win. Round 13 was the second installment of First Nations Round, delivering two spectacular one-point matches as we entered NAIDOC Week. We watched the Adelaide Thunderbirds take top spot on the ladder, and an emotional Donnell Wallam took to court after a tough week where she received a horrible racist letter. Plus we finally get to speak with West Coast Fever and Jamaican powerhouse Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard — the best goal shooter in the world — it's been a long time coming! Before we analyse all the big moments from the penultimate round, including that massive collision between Amy Sligar and Kim Jenner in the Giants and Mavericks game.
A week after parting ways with head coach Bec Bulley, the Queensland Firebirds bounced back with an emotional win against the West Coast Fever as their new co-coaches Katie Walker and Roselee Jencke took the reins for the rest of the 2024 season. The Melbourne Vixens have maintained the No.1 spot on the ladder without looking like they've even hit top gear yet and the Adelaide Thunderbirds jumped the Fever into second place.Meanwhile, both NSW teams are struggling, with the Giants at the bottom of the ladder and the Swifts still feeling the effects of their off-court drama with Samantha Wallace-Joseph. We also hear from Australian Kelpie Josh Byron about the state of men's netball in this country and his ambitions for the sport to get onto the Olympics program.

The 2024 Super Netball season is officially underway and we welcomed brand new club the Mavericks to the family.Round one saw attendance records broken, the West Coast Fever start their season with a 19-goal bang, and the Adelaide Thunderbirds cap a fantastic weekend for South Australian netball with a tight victory. On this podcast we chat with Melbourne Vixens defender Rudi Ellis, who was one of the absolute standouts in the Melbourne derby.
The Adelaide Thunderbirds are the Super Netball champions for 2023 after defeating the Swifts in the grand final by just one goal in extra time in a match that will live on in Super Netball folklore. We discuss the impact Roses import and buy of the year, Eleanor Cardwell, has had in her first season with the Thunderbirds and the high penalty count for the usually disciplined Swifts that may have been the difference in such a tight contest. We discuss the new match rules that are being proposed in Cape Town later in the month, which are welcome adjustments to the ones currently in place. We also catch up with former Australian Diamonds captain, Laura Geitz, who gives us her thoughts on the grand final and how she thinks the Diamonds will fair at upcoming Netball World Cup.
In this bulletin, an injured sailor rescued from rough seas in the Great Australian Bite, six killed in Iran in a suicide bombing attack, and in sport, the Adelaide Thunderbirds break through for their first Super Netball title.
Romelda Aiken-George was a star of the Super Netball competition while playing for Queensland, so many were shocked when she split with the Firebirds. The shooter had bristled at being offered a reduced deal after returning from having a baby. Now she'll play a central role in NSW's attempt to win a championship this weekend. Today, Patrick Stack speaks with Britt Carter about that and the other major storylines from the Grand Final. Featured: Brittany Carter, netball writer, ABC Sport. The grand final dreams of West Coast Fever were stolen from their grasp in the dying moments of the preliminary final by the NSW Swifts, who will now battle the Adelaide Thunderbirds for the 2023 Super Netball trophy. We analyse how agonisingly close Fever came to having a shot at back-to-back titles and how teenager Sophie Fawns proved to be the game changer for the Swifts with hot hands during the super shot period. For the second time this season we welcome back Dr Alan Pearce, neuroscientist, to discuss an incident concerning Sasha Glasgow, who was diagnosed with concussion after colliding with the post.
The Adelaide Thunderbirds are through to their first grand final in exactly a decade after an extra-time thriller against the NSW Swifts in the semis.Meanwhile, the West Coast Fever keep their back-to-back title dreams alive after knocking the Melbourne Vixens out of the race. We've got some thoughts about how extra time is played and the umpiring, before we analyse all the action.
NSW Swifts coach talks about their preparation for their Super Netball semi final match against the Adelaide Thunderbirds
After two weeks of turmoil, the Collingwood Magpies pulled off the upset of the season against the ladder leading Adelaide Thunderbirds at their final home Melbourne game. The Swifts have rocketed their way to the top of the Super Netball ladder, winning eight straight matches to peak in form right before finals.Meanwhile, Sasha Glasgow has accepted a 2023/24 national contract with the English Roses. We ponder, have the Aussie Diamonds missed out on a golden opportunity?
Round 11 marked the beginning of a two-week celebration honouring the First Nations people who are involved in all levels of netball, and we reflect on whether Netball Australia has done enough since signing the Declaration of Commitment in 2020. With confirmation that Collingwood's netball program has been axed, we discussed the possibility of a fresh start for some of the players and a possible location for the eighth team in 2024.With only three rounds until the end of the regular season, the Adelaide Thunderbirds and the NSW Swifts are tied for first place, enjoying wins in round 11. While the Firebirds celebrated First Nations Round with Noongar woman Donnell Wallam, and Wakka Wakka woman Leesa MiMi, all but dashing the hopes of Giants Netball making the finals.
This week we delight in the glory of our Queen Liz Ellis, who stole the win (and everyone's hearts!) on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! We hear from former Australian Diamonds head coach, Lisa Alexander, on the recently announced Diamonds squad and she gives us her thoughts the inclusion of Adelaide Thunderbirds defender, Matilda Garrett. Round seven served up some tight matches where we saw the come-back-queens of 2023, the Swifts come from behind (again!) to steal the Sydney Derby from the Giants. The Firebirds, Lightning and Magpies were again unable to put in a 60-minute performance this week; and we wonder if the bottom four teams on the ladder are even a slight chance of making finals as we reach the halfway point of the season.
