ROB & JEREMY interview CHRIS SLADE Chris Slade had an incredible career in music spanning 6 decades! Chris is from Wales and grew up 6 miles from where Tom Jones grew up. So it only was right that Chris became Tom Jones drummer (Chris was on Tom's first 6 albums including LIve in Vegas) Chris went on to form Manfred Mann's Earth Band (Blinded by the Light) ... was asked to join a new supergroup THE FIRM (in the 80s with Jimmy Page & Paul Rodgers), was in ASIA, URIAH HEEP... ... and one of the greatest bands of all time ... AC/DC. Chris was on their RAZOR'S EDGE album which he played drums on the legendary song Thunderstruck! He also recorded "big gun" for the Swartzenegger movie "Last Action Hero". He joined AC/DC on their ROCK or BUST world tour in 2015. He was in AC/DC up until 2020 when Phil Rudd rejoined. We only had about 35 minutes to talk to Chris so we couldn't cover his whole career (who could) but we got to talk drum technique, auditioning for AC/DC, being asked to join The Firm and other stuff including who makes the best tea and if Chris could go back in time where would it be and when? Also hear Chris' response when Jimmy Page told him (while recording with Tom Jones) what he was going to call his next band ... you may have heard of them? A good fun interview! If the self-help industry was actually effective, the world would be full of people in perfect health with boundless wealth, always succeeding at everything they set out to do. They'd have perfect relationships, be surrounded by nothing but love and harmony, and know the definition of paradise! The first time things seem a little off, you'd just buy one book, read it, and voila! You'd never need another book because the stars would align like some freaking celestial rapture put at your service personally. Alas, that's not the case.Eddie Sand started reading one of those books. Rather than solve his problem instantly, it put him in such a tailspin that he ended up spending five months going through hell. Even his wife couldn't say much that would help him along or make him want to get out of bed.Raised by his grandparents, lack showed him how different people had different things in their lives, which made him want to become better. And contributed to what's become one of his biggest values - being genuine. After several failed attempts to join the Army, he enlisted in the Marines because he noticed a Marine recruiter at his high school who seemed to have a bunch of girls crushing on him. What guy doesn't want that? I *may* have had a thing for a few Marines myself

FLOYD WEST22 brings the 12th chapter of LIP BITER SOUNDS — your sonic passport to the world of cutting-edge electronic music. This mix begins in a dreamlike state with RÜFÜS DU SOL's Innerbloom — reimagined by RUMPUS into a hypnotic, bass-driven opener — and wastes no time diving into darker, grittier territory. Michael Bibi's Lil Freaky and MK's Dior bring undeniable heat, while Mau P's People Talk People Sing delivers cerebral vibes with a dancefloor twist. Along the way, ARTBAT and MORTEN inject epic melodic tension, and Glass Petals, Lesgo, and ESSEL elevate the groove with club-ready thump. Midway through, a surprise remix of AC/DC's Thunderstruck flips the script with a thunderous blend of rock and rave energy, setting the tone for the second half — where things get dirtier, weirder, and harder. So excited to have Andy Archer with us today. He's a 27 year old Starting Pitcher for the Savannah Bananas. He tells us the journey through college, the dissapointment about the minor league draft, joining the workforce and then into how teaching a group of kids at Sunday School changed his life. As I talked with Andy, I put myself in his shoes and also thought about what his parents thought about the decisions he made in his life. -risks he took -surfing on lunch break -living a comfortable life vs living a life with purpose and using your God giving abilities -reading the Bible cover to cover -living away from all of his family and looking for ways to serve -how can you catch your kids imagination and be influenced by things that are good, true and beautiful Some questions to ponder: -when are times of life when someone can be depressed? -what do you do when you feel like your sin makes you not worthy of God's love? -what are some of the hardest words to say? Something I'm focused on is finding ways to have fun with my wife and daughters and also having fun while we are together. Whether we are playing sports, watching videos, doing houswork, going on an adventure day or just hanging out, it's important for me remember to have fun, laugh and connecting with my family. I wanted to record this podcast as a reminder for us dads to have FUN! Sometimes fun requires us to be uncomfortable. Andy talks about how he was below average dancer and one of the things he loves the most is the choreographed dancing that the Bananas do. He tells a cool story about doing the "Thunderstruck" dance. His story made me think about when I relax and am goofy with my family and let go of caring about being judged by other people. The Savannah Bananas are a lot of fun! Check them out in person with your family and on YouTube! In part three of our series on the master of AC electricity, Nikola Tesla, we finally get to see the invention of the Tesla Coil! When introducing his new invention to shoot electricity wirelessly through the air, Nikola shocks the crowd (not actually) by illuminating a lightbulb held in one hand, while a bolt of electricity connects to his other hand. However, competition is fierce, and swaths of other so-called inventors steal his designs and try to claim them as their own. It's also around this time that Nikola's bad habit of not sleeping for days on end begins to catch up with him. After a fateful night spent chatting with a believer in the supernatural, he starts to think there might just be some connections between electricity and magic. Tune in for part three of Nikola Tesla as we dive even deeper into the mind of the brilliant inventor! (Ep. 048)

Happy Thanksgiving, Honestly listeners! If you're anything like the rest of America, you'll be spending the day with family, cooking turkey, eating sweet potatoes, and. . . watching football. Whether or not you're from Texas, the game on most American TVs on Thanksgiving Day will be the Dallas Cowboys. But just behind the players are the real stars of the show: blue and white pom-poms accenting sparkly white cowboy boots dancing to the sound of “Thunderstruck” for 41.8 million viewers at home. We're talking, of course, about the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders—who you may have seen in the viral Netflix documentary, America's Sweethearts—which is what today's episode is all about. Why, you might ask, would we talk about cheerleading on Honestly? Because as we watched the documentary, we realized that the show is about a lot more than cheerleading, football, faith, patriotism, and quintessential American culture. Yes, it's about those things—and yes, it's a reality show about making a very competitive dance team—but really, it's a master class in leadership and excellence. So today, we're talking with the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders' director, Kelli Finglass. We ask her how she became the master operator she is today, leading an organization just as well as—or perhaps better than—a Fortune 500 company, how she created a culture of dedication and precision, and most importantly, what it takes today to build a phenomenal team. It's a different kind of episode than you're used to these days—no talk about Matt Gaetz or Elon Musk—but it's an all-American conversation for an all-American day. And it couldn't be more fitting and fun. We hope you enjoy it. If you liked what you heard from Honestly, the best way to support us is to go to TheFP.com and become a Free Press subscriber today.
