Esther and Susie go Back to the Future and get high on 80s nostalgia in this week's episode of LTO. There are no Careless Whispers as these Uptown Girls try Holding Back the Years, and Relax with memories of the decade that gave us Roland Rat, Wacaday and Agadoo. Let's travel back in time Together In Electric Dreams. Lovely jubbly. The gals are joined this week by a very special guest. Singer songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and music legend Andrew Roachford MBE @roachfordmusic scored his first hit in the 80s with his band, Roachford and the timeless classic, Cuddly Toy. He hasn't stopped producing incredible music and released his most recent solo album in December 2023. Andrew also sings with Mike and the Mechanics. He received his MBE in 2019 for services to music. He chatted to E&S about music as communication; how he composes; and what it felt like to hang out at Buckingham Palace, and to perform in front of thousands at Wembley. It's a heartfelt, open and honest conversation, with plenty of giggles and a surprise guest appearance from his lovely mum's phone! It's treat to be in Andrew's company. Look out for live dates coming up later this year - roachford.co.uk With a sketch that will take you back, and a social media roundup of the most responses we've ever had (even though none of our listeners are old enough to remember the 80s...), this 'Nostalgia' special is Atomic and we hope you'll say I've Had The Time of My Life once you've heard it and a 'lorra lorra laughs' Competition: If you've read these shownotes share the episode on social media (handles below!) and tag us in, and send your postal address to limitedtimepodcast@gmail.com - we'll send you a prize!   Sign up to be an LTO Patron now at: Patreon.com/LimitedTimeOnlyPodcast LTO now has a PATREON page which means you can become an LTO Patron. Welcome to Eyes & Teeth Dene Michael who is a member of Black Lace from the 1980's, yes you remember the Agadoo, The Music Man and Superman, these are ingrained into my mind from an early age and of course a huge part of my early work, they were the first dances I nailed as a teenager in barry Island or Whitecliff Bay holiday park. It's Dene who along with new member Craig Harper is keeping the memory of those Holiday Classic dances Live and Well on the Holiday circuit, across Festivals, 80's weekends and wherever you feel the need to push a pineapple. I really am in my element here talking to someone who was part of my learning the business as an entertainer and Dene has a great story. Colin Gibb (Original Black Lace) Gordon King (Original Black Lace)Dene Michael & Craig Harper (Black Lace Conga Party)From song writing to making Christmas hits with Corrie's Bruce Jones and Benidorm's Crissy Rock and having the honour of a Spitting Image puppet made of him and Alan Barton featured on Top of the Pops, talking of Eurovision, 321 with ted Rogers, and where you can see Black Lace LIVE in 2023 enjoy this edition of Eyes & Teeth, The Worlds Greatest Variety Show with Dene Michaels.

It feels like it's been YEARS since we last relaxed in the company of the very reason we're all gathered around the wireless today (it's been eight weeks, in fact), and so The Peggy Mount Calamity Hour goes all Agadoo as it bends over backwards, pulls out the stops and pushes out the boat... This week it's 1988 and we find ourselves in the mood for a double Pegging (okay, quiet at the back), as we pick up a flyer for The Greatest Show In The Galaxy only to find Dame Peggatha Mountbatten on a stall outside selling rice pudding and cold sick served in half a pineapple. Then we're so incensed about this, we find ourselves on trial for the things we only imagined doing in Ray Bradbury's Punishment Without Crime. It turns out Peggy's the judge, so we're definitely going down (really please, calm down). Could absolutely any dystopian wilderness be improved with the judicial placement of an absolutely incendiary P.Mount? Could R.Bradbury's office be improved with the judicial placement of a cleaner? And is the ninth episode of the series really the best time for D.Velvet and B.Out to be bringing in a new outlandish character? Well, the jury's still out... Dancing Through The Generations with Keith and Judy Clifton! – Part 1

The Kevin Clifton Show

One of the most popular interview requests from listeners and Kevin's followers on social media, has been this week's very special guests: Keith and Judy Clifton! As well as having raised Kevin and his sister Joanne to become two of the nation's most recognised and well-loved dancers, Keith and Judy are legends in their own right, having conquered the world of Latin American dance as champions, and having founded a highly influential and well-respected dance school, The Clifton Dance Academy. It's a family affair this week then, as Keith and Judy talk about their own careers in the world of dance, their own love story (and maybe even spill the beans slightly on Kevin's upbringing…) in this first part of a conversation between the dazzling Clifton family! KEY TAKEAWAYS • Keith and Judy were the World Number One Latin American dancers, as well as UK and international champions. Since then, they have become famous in Grimsby as the founders and instructors at Clifton Dance Academy.  • It's a strange paradox that in front of an audience, Kevin finds it easier to become an extrovert, but in a smaller group of people, introversion suddenly takes over. This is a quality that Kevin shares with his mother, Judy.  • There is a safety in performing on stage. Even those who find personal interactions difficult, find that they are suddenly able to express themselves. There seems to be a mental barrier that is impregnable between the stage and the audience.  • Dance gave Keith huge amounts of confidence. Whereas his fellow teens and friends were still shy and finding out about themselves and their personalities, Keith had levels of confidence that were allowing him to express himself more openly.  • Nowadays Joanne is far more competitive than Kevin, whereas in days gone by, it would have been Kevin who was more into the competition side of dancing.  • Keith, similarly, has found the competitive side of his life is less interesting to him these days. It's far more important to enjoy each moment than ensure that he is somehow doing better than someone else.  • Ballroom dancing is a strange form of competition. As an art form, Kevin finds it difficult to understand how one performance can be judged against another.  BEST MOMENTS ‘You showed me Agadoo!'  'So I could potentially be a cross between Geronimo and Jack The Ripper?'  ‘I wore some velvet bell-bottom trousers'  ‘It must be love!'  ‘You're too tall - no you're too short'  ‘Dancing is an art, not a sport'   ABOUT THE HOST Kevin Clifton is a professional dancer who has been performing & competing at the highest level for over a decade. Kevin has worked on shows like 'Burn the floor' & 'Rock of Ages' to 'Strictly Come Dancing' one of the biggest TV shows in the UK which Kevin won in 2018.    CONTACT METHOD Kevin Clifton Instagram Kevin Clifton Facebook Kevin Clifton YouTube           See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The song this week was one that came so close...it was inspired by a TV advert where two young girls asked their uncle Stan to roll his cap across his chest then round the back of his neck...I came up with this song which Norman Thomas played every day on Radio City...I sent it to The Grumbleweeds who said they would do it if the advert went national...sadly it didn't because the despite the ad being so popular no-one knew what it was advertising...which was British Beef...close but no cigar. Katie Price has been taking some stick in the news regarding her receiving benefits from the Government to pay for taxis to take her disabled son to school...despite her being worth 45 million. In my opinion she's earned her money and pays her taxes.......I admire anyone who makes their fortune...and it's always the scroungers who seem to complain . I watched The Voice last week and to my delight one of the contestants was the singer from Black Lace...he didn't get selected but I was a big fan of the group...BUT it was uncool to like them...in fact some of their songs were voted the worst records ever...THEY WERE GREAT!!...you can't argue with full dancefloors....my band ALWAYS did Agadoo and The Conga...guaranteed to get everyone up....loved 'em!!....it’s called entertainment…something a lot of bands these days could do with a lesson in, I have been watching coverage of the 70th anniversary of the Holocaust...it's hard to believe this happened...no matter how many times you see it. It displays how low humanity can sink with their treatment of fellow human beings....soon there will be no living survivors to tell the story which MUST be carried into the future so this never happens again... Further proof that there are many morons roaming amongst us..there is a statue of Maggie Thatcher in an art gallery which has been moved to a small corridor and cordoned off...because some bright neanderthals decided to behead it...no matter what you thought of her when she was P.M. what does that achieve?...and having street parties when she died just shows how some of us have yet to evolve.Looking for someone to man a one way journey to Mars?....look no further…
