When you were growing up, did you get along with your sibling? When Leela and Jay Gilday were growing up in Northwest Territories, their dad wanted them to sing together more, but it wasn't until decades later that they did. Leela and Jay both have distinguished music careers on their own, but more recently, they've come together as the contemporary roots duo Sechile Sedare (“my younger brother, my older sister” in Dene). Earlier this year, they joined Tom Power to talk about their collaboration. Plus, they set up their new single, “Hold On.”

What if everything you've learned about love and relationships is only scratching the surface?Let's be real—today's dating and relationship landscape is confusing AF. With tech distractions, shifting roles, and a world that's constantly hustling, finding deep, meaningful connections feels more complicated than ever. Masculine and feminine energies are out of whack. Men feel unsure of their roles. Women are rising into power, and society hasn't quite caught up with how to balance it all. That's why I had to bring Dene Logan to The Happy Hustle Podcast. Dene is a licensed marriage and family therapist, an author, and a podcaster who's been in the trenches helping couples figure this stuff out. And in this episode, we unpack everything you're not being taught about relationships, self-discovery, and the energies that shape your love life. This convo goes way beyond “relationship advice.” We talked about the deep stuff—how people are seeking fulfillment outside themselves, how modern dynamics have shifted, and why couples often wait until things fall apart before asking for help. Dené broke down how self-awareness and healing are the real secrets to attracting the right partner. And she even dropped some wisdom about celibacy being a tool for growth, which, let's be honest, most people aren't even thinking about when they're out there swiping left and right. One thing that hit home was how love has been devalued in today's hustle culture. We chase money, success, followers—but forget that relationships are sacred. Dene reminded us: real relationships require intention, mindfulness, and communication. Not just when things go bad—but every damn day.We also got into some fire convo around masculine and feminine energy—and before you roll your eyes or think it's all woo-woo, listen up. These energies aren't about gender. They exist in all of us. The masculine craves direction, purpose, and trust. The feminine wants to be seen, to feel flow, and to be held in presence. The problem is, most of us were never taught how to honor and balance both.So now we've got dudes confused about how to show up. Women stepping into their power and getting labeled “too much.” And couples who love each other, but feel disconnected because no one taught them how to communicate their needs and hold space for each other's growth.Dene and I also touched on the sneaky issues wrecking intimacy these days—like porn addiction, lack of presence, and trying to force traditional roles that don't work anymore. It's wild, man. In a world where you can connect with anyone instantly, more people than ever feel alone. And the truth is, community and honest, face-to-face connections are the antidote. One of the things I loved most about this convo is that it's not about being perfect. It's about being conscious. Dené says the couples who make it long-term aren't the ones who avoid conflict—they're the ones who keep showing up with curiosity, gratitude, and a willingness to grow. Instead of nitpicking your partner's flaws, focus on what they do well. Watch how fast the energy shifts when appreciation becomes the default. She also reminded me that longevity in a relationship doesn't equal success. Just because you've been together for 10 years doesn't mean you're aligned or fulfilled. Real success is about shared vision, mutual respect, and daily efforts to connect, not coasting through out of habit or fear.We even got into how celibacy, for some, can be a reset. A way to cut the noise and figure out what you want, who you are, and what kind of energy you're bringing to the table. It's not about punishment—it's about powerful clarity. And you know I had to ask her about what makes love last. Her answer? Growth. If you're not growing, together or individually, the relationship stalls. Personal development fuels relational development. And when both people are doing their inner work? That's when the magic happens. This episode is a must-listen if you're an entrepreneur trying to build your empire and nurture a meaningful relationship at the same time. Because the truth is—you can't pour into your business if your personal life is draining you. And honestly, what's all that success for if you don't have anyone to share it with?So if you're tired of surface-level connections… if you're wondering why the spark is fading… or if you're just ready to understand how to show up more powerfully in your relationships—this episode is your guide. We get into the juicy stuff—real stories, practical insights, and tools you can use right now to deepen intimacy, grow through challenges, and stay aligned with your truth. It's time to bring more depth, more awareness, and more sacredness into your relationships. Because love isn't a distraction from the hustle—it's the fuel that keeps your soul in the game. In this episode, we cover:00:00 Introduction to Love and Relationships04:30 Understanding Masculine and Feminine Energies11:10 Navigating Modern Relationship Dynamics18:43 The Importance of Self-Discovery in Relationships24:30 Attracting the Right Partner in Today's World27:44 Reconnecting in Relationships34:00 Navigating Relationship Changes39:40 The Importance of Mindfulness in Relationships45:00 Gratitude and Appreciation in Love52:00 The Essence of Happy Hustlin'What does happy Hustlin mean to you? Dene says Happy Hustlin is just really trusting that whatever is meant for me will not miss me. So as long as I'm in alignment with following my bliss, normally everything that I'm meant to experience comes to fruition. Indigenous people in Canada suffered a noticeably disproportionate number of fatal interactions with law enforcement in 2024. In one three-month period, 15 Indigenous people died either in custody or from direct interactions with police. It prompted the Assembly of First Nations and other Indigenous leaders to call for a national inquiry. It also inspired the news program, APTN Investigates, to pry into the factors that contribute to such an imbalance in the justice system. Their new three-part series looks into the strained relationship between Indigenous people and law enforcement. We'll talk with APTN Investigates team members about their findings. We'll also hear from Marvin Roberts, the Athabascan man who just settled a wrongful conviction lawsuit against the city of Fairbanks, Alaska for $11.5 million. Roberts is one of the men – all Native – deemed the "Fairbanks Four". They were all convicted and imprisoned for the 1997 murder of a teenager. They were released in 2015 after another man confessed to the crime. GUESTS Cullen Crozier (Gwich'in, Dene, and Métis), producer with APTN Investigates Tamara Pimental (Métis), video journalist with APTN Investigates Tom Fennario, video journalist with APTN Investigates Marvin Roberts (Athabascan), one of the "Fairbanks Four" Reilly Cosgrove, partner at Kramer and Cosgrove law firm

I think that the first thing artists have to do is to start telling the truth. You know, just like climate change five or six years ago, you just didn't really want to talk about it. You got shunned in polite company if you talked about it. Now we have the c word, right? We've got collapse. But the conversation hasn't started yet. And I think just broadly speaking, the artistic community… The best of the artistic community, has always been on the edge, right? The social edge. Pushing, complaining, challenging, resisting…Robert R. JanesMy conversation with archaeologist and former museum director and CEO Robert (Bob) R. Janes (author of Museums and Societal Collapse : The Museum as Lifeboat) and his son, famer and educator Peter Janes (author of Fake Plants Never Die - an eclectic technical instruction manual - Essays on pre-apocalyptic adaptation) at TreeEater Farm and Nursery on Denman Island, September 16, 2024. Janes{09:17} I make a personal effort towards hope, but I don't feel any hope. - Peter Janes{11:39} It's the message that's important now. And that message is telling the truth. - Robert R. JanesBehind the StoryRobert R. Janes, with nearly five decades in the museum business, reflects on his early archaeological work and a transformative experience living with Dene families near the Arctic Circle. This shaped his understanding of social ecology. His son, Peter, driven by a desire to correct educational inadequacies, established a farm focused on regenerative practices. Together, they offer a vision for a future rooted in sustainability, truth, and a reconnection with the natural world. *END NOTES FOR ALL EPISODESHey conscient listeners, I've been producing the conscient podcast as a learning and unlearning journey since May 2020 on un-ceded Anishinaabe Algonquin territory (Ottawa). When you were growing up, did you get along with your sibling? Did your parents want you to get along better than you did? When Leela and Jay Gilday were growing up in Northwest Territories, their dad wanted them to sing together more, but it wasn't until decades later that they did. Leela and Jay both have distinguished music careers on their own, but more recently, they've come together as the duo Sechile Sedare (“my younger brother, my older sister” in Dene). They join Tom Power to talk about their collaboration. Plus, they set up their new single, “Hold On.”

Dene Logan is a Depth Psychologist, Author, and Thought Leader specializing in relationships, Feminine and Masculine energies, and Personal Sovereignty. She holds a rich academic background in depth psychology and has cultivated a unique approach that merges scientific and spiritual insights. Her work frequently discusses self-discovery, authentic power, and the reclamation of traditional feminine wisdom.  Dene is the author of "SOVEREIGN LOVE," her INCREDIBLE and recently released book- I highly suggest reading it. She is a respected speaker and retreat facilitator promoting unity consciousness and personal empowerment. In this episode, we dive deep into the transformative journey of reclaiming AUTHENTIC POWER.   Dene challenges conventional wisdom by emphasizing that true power comes from within, not external validation. Your great assignment is to become sovereign so that your soul can guide you in your way.  It's time to break free from societal "shoulds" and embrace your unique path. In a world that often dismisses the dreamer, Dene and I want to remind you that following your soul's calling is not just a choice; it's a necessity.  This episode invites you to explore wholeness, inner harmony, conscious living, and cultivating an abundant mindset. Maybe you needed to hear this today: Authenticity is the foundation of personal growth. Trusting your inner voice is a radical act of rebellion. You have permission to prioritize your own needs. Embracing your feminine energy is a powerful reclamation. Your journey is valid, no matter how unconventional it seems. It's okay to be a work in progress; perfection is an illusion. Enjoy this empowering conversation.  xRx STAY CONNECTED WITH ROXANNE SAFFAIE  ️INSTAGRAM SUBSTACK YOUTUBE TWITTER THREADS RESOURCES: Download your FREE Decisive Woman's Playbook + master the art of intuitive action + strategic execution. Nightmares of the Americas: Indigenous Tales

Send us a Text Message.Welcome everybody to Nightmares of the Americas Indigenous Tales.  Today, we're going deep into the icy wilderness of Northern Canada and Alaska and for some reason Michigan to tell the terrifying legend of a creature called Waheela. This elusive creature is said to roam the remote, snow-covered regions of the Northwest Territories, Alaska, and even parts of Michigan that's about 3000 miles. In the remote regions of Northern Canada and Alaska, where snow and ice dominate the landscape, the legend of the Waheela has become more real than lore. In this challenging wilderness, where nature remains powerful and survival is a constant effort, the boundary between myth and reality can sometimes be unclear. In these isolated areas, the Waheela is more than just a tale—many believe it's a real creature that roams the tundra, a predator with deep roots in the land's ancient history. The Waheela is no ordinary wolf. Descriptions of this creature paint a picture of a beast that is both familiar and terrifyingly alien. Imagine a creature with the broad, muscular body of a bear, but with the elongated snout and sharp, deadly teeth of a wolf. Its fur, thick and white as the snow it treads upon, allows it to blend seamlessly into its icy surroundings. In the legends of the Dene and Inuit peoples, the Waheela is not just a large predator, but a creature of immense power, imbued with spiritual significance. It is said to possess abilities that defy explanation—speed that allows it to move through the wilderness like a ghost, strength that enables it to decapitate its victims with a single bite, and an intelligence that rivals that of the most cunning of human hunters. These attributes have led many to believe that the Waheela is more than just an animal—it is a guardian of the wilderness, a spirit of the land that punishes those who disrespect the natural order.Enjoy the show!
