Sometimes, even the most impactful films seem to slide away without being noticed or acknowledged. Perhaps, they weren't marketed like wholesome entertainers. Or maybe they were perceived as festival films and thus considered suitable only for those with a nuanced taste. But if you're one who doesn't judge a movie by its trailer and is willing to try out something new, this one's for you.Today's Lost and Found is Waiting. The 2016 film starring Naseeruddin Shah and Kalki Koechlin, turns the concept of grieving over its head. Its muted narrative occasionally laced with dark humour delves into the idea that while humans can get acclimated to extreme degrees of pain, moving on entirely can be an excruciating affair. Waiting introduces us to 70-year-old Shiv Natraj (played by Shah) whose partner has been in a comatose state for months. Shiv has come to accept the inevitable over time and has become a regular at the hospital where his wife has been admitted. When he chances upon a young woman (played by Koechlin) whose husband is recently admitted to the same hospital following a horrific accident, he decides to hand-hold her through the various stages of sorrow. Torn and shattered following their individual setbacks, the two are inflicted with varying degrees of pain, and the journey to acceptance is long and complex. But how they choose to grapple with their suffering make this film worth a watch. Directed by Anu Menon, Waiting is set in Kochi and offers some stunning vistas of God's own country. The veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah has often admitted that he's accepted some films only because they paid him handsomely. But going by his compelling performance here, it's surely not one you can put a number on. That was all the info about the hidden gem “Waiting”, I shall be back with another episode of OTTplay Lost and found, until then it's me Nikhil outta here.

Trash Talking with Eco-Warriors | Sustainability, Green Business, Conservation
Small Act of Green Rebellion: Buy sustainable gifts. More than 63% of American adults drink coffee and about 500 billion cups are consumed each year. Since coffee grows near the equator, that is a pretty big impact as a whole industry. Anu Menon started Driftaway Coffee with her husband, Suyog, as a way of building a company that they could both be passionate working on. A couple years in, they realized that in order to really love what they were building, they had to think of the sustainability of their company and products. Now, Driftaway Coffee is a subscription coffee company that uses fully compostable packaging and pricing transparency as part of their business practices. -- Season 3 of Trash Talking with Eco-Warriors is sponsored by Plaine Products. Plaine Products is a zero-waste personal care company that uses re-fillable aluminum bottles. With Vidya Balan in the titular role, Shakuntala Devi is a biographical comedy-drama based on the life of world-famous mathematician, also known as Human-Computer. With the message that 'Why be normal when you can be amazing?', the film shows Shakuntala's balancing act between maths and motherhood. Does she finally win over her relations sacrificing her love for maths or does she give up everything for her personal ambitions — it all unfolds with a pinch of humour. The film is now streaming on Amazon Prime Videos.
Shakuntala Devi on Amazon Prime Video is the biopic of a woman without limits. The real life Shakuntala was a math wizard, who was famously known as the human computer. Storytelling (on film) occurs in three stages: on paper (writing), on sets (direction) and in the editing room. Apurva Asrani has had the experience of wearing all three hats. He’s been an integral part of some of the finest Hindi films in the last 20 years. Spoke with Asrani about his experiences working with RGV, Kalpana Lajmi, Hansal Mehta and Nagesh Kukunoor; his role in persuading RGV to switch from Steenbeck to Avid; the personally cathartic experience of writing ALIGARH; Indian queer cinema; and struggles of gay men in India.Asrani was articulate and insightful with his responses, and bared his soul on several issues he holds close to his heart. I greatly appreciated that. I think you’ll too. Part 1 of my conversation with Apurva Asrani. Corrections: In my intro, I mentioned Apurva wrote Waiting (2015), which is incorrect. Waiting was written by Atika Chohan, Anu Menon and James Ruzicka. Also, Shahid (2013) was co-written by Sameer Gautam Singh. My apologies to all four writers. Sorry about this.
