It also cites a different TikTok video from barber Nigel Miller, who said his client was going for “that Travis Kelce look.” WHAT ARE WE DOING?! This is just bad journalism and poor research! White folks gone find a way to take the credit for Black swag one way or another. On July 13, 2020, Truitt was shot and killed by Cobb County police officers; he was 17 years old, unarmed, and Black. To this day, Truitt's family remain in the dark as to who shot their son and the public has yet to see the body and dashboard camera footage of the incident. Griggs tells us about the case as well as the work that lies ahead for the movement and what Atlanta voters should look for in their city council and mayoral races.

On February 23, 2020, Ahmaud Marquez Arbery, an unarmed 25-year-old African-American man, was fatally shot on a street in Satilla Shores, a neighborhood near Brunswick in Glynn County, Georgia. Arbery had been pursued and confronted by two white residents, Travis McMichael and his father Gregory, who were armed and driving a pickup truck. He was unarmed and hiding in a closet when he was gunned down. The FBI said they did not have a comment on the family's allegation, as this is an active investigation. According to FBI spokesman Kevin Rowson, agents were serving a warrant to an armed robbery suspect at an apartment complex in Atlanta's Adamsville neighborhood off of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive on Middleton Road. When agents tried to make contact, the suspect led them on a chase through the building.Members of Atchison's family said Friday that he was not armed, hiding in a closet and was shot in the face. An Atlanta police officer who was part of the FBI task force fired the deadly shot, according to police. No officers were hurt."We went to that apartment and confronted the suspect and the suspect fled," Rowson said. Earlier this evening, Anoa spoke with Attorney Gerald Griggs about the newly established Voter Fraud Commission. Arguably voter suppression has been one of the most underreported stories of the 2016 election cycle. He also detailed the issues with the voter fraud commission led by cross check creator Kris Kobach. Gerald also discussed cases undertaken by the Atlanta and Georgia chapters of the NAACP to address voter suppression on the local and state level. Gerald stressed the need for using all of the tools in our tool box and getting people engaged not just ahead of elections. There is no off-cycle.

In that post, she explained why she felt like she has been driven out of public education. Her story resonated with many other teachers in public schools who are finding their jobs increasingly difficult because of school reforms that have limited teacher autonomy, over-emphasized standardized tests and underfunded public education. Joining her will be Attorney Gerald Griggs. If you remember the Spring 2015 Atlanta GA teaching scandal where Atlanta Public Educators were given prison time for changing student’s test scores, Attorney Griggs started an organization called Free Our Teachers (FOT) Now (http://www.freeourteachersnow.com/) aimed at helping educators not just in Atlanta but everywhere. FOT’s primary focus is to support teachers that serve underprivileged communities. These teachers are faced with insurmountable obstacles – malnourished children, a lack of educational resources, and the absence of parental support and guidance – due to the low socioeconomic status of the community. When presented with these challenges, teachers must assume a myriad of roles that inhibit their ability to be effective teachers.
