About Dr. Glenn Livington: Dr Glenn Livingston, Ph.D. is a veteran psychologist and longtime CEO of a multi-million-dollar consulting firm which has serviced several Fortune 500 clients in the food industry. Doctor Glenn's work, theories, and research have been published in major periodicals like The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times and The Chicago Sun Times. Disillusioned by what traditional psychology had to offer overweight and/or food obsessed individuals, Doctor Livingston spent several decades researching the nature of bingeing and overeating via work with his own patients AND a self-funded research program with more than 40,000 participants. Most important, however, was his own personal journey out of obesity and food prison to a normal, healthy weight and a much more lighthearted relationship with food. Show Notes: If food feels like it has power over you — whether that means occasional overeating, persistent cravings, or feeling stuck in a cycle of "starting tomorrow" — this episode offers a radically different and compassionate approach. In this powerful conversation, Glenn Livingston, psychologist and author of Defeat Your Cravings, explains why willpower is not the solution to food struggles — and how lasting freedom comes from learning to quiet the brain's emergency response around food. Dr. Glenn shares how cravings are rooted in the nervous system, why deprivation backfires, and how nourishing your body properly allows the rational brain to regain control. Together, we explore the science behind cravings, binge urges, and emotional eating — including the concept of the cravings extinction curve, why cravings intensify before they disappear, and how self-care, sleep, and nutrition play a critical role in calming the brain. This episode offers hope, clarity, and practical tools for anyone who wants peace with food — without dieting, restriction, or shame. ✨ What You'll Learn · Why willpower fails — and what works instead · How cravings are driven by the fight-or-flight nervous system · The science of the cravings extinction curve · Why nourishing your body reduces binge urges · How sleep, stress, and decision fatigue impact cravings · How to stop "starting tomorrow" and work with the present moment · Why extreme diets make cravings worse, not better · How to regain calm, control, and choice around food

AI is here, but so are human emotions. Tammy J. Bond highlights that implementing AI is not just a technical deployment; it's a massive disruption to your team's identity, sense of security, and self-worth. The core challenge for 2026 is leading the emotional side of automation, as your team is both hopeful and terrified. This episode exposes how leaders are currently dropping the ball with silence and lack of guidance, offering a playbook to intentionally build trust and human sustainability around AI usage. The Human Cost of AI Silence Leaders are often failing to implement AI well because they ignore its impact on three fundamental human needs: Certainty: Workers fear for their job security (up to 52% are worried about AI's impact). Competency: The automated work challenges their sense of self-worth and ability to perform their role effectively. Control: People feel a loss of autonomy when a new, vaguely understood tool takes over parts of their process. Ignoring these fears creates camouflaged conflict in the workplace, manifesting as passive resistance, quiet quitting, and overcompensating perfectionism (driven by fear of obsolescence). The Problem of Silence: With 40% of workplaces lacking AI usage guidelines, employees read a leader's silence as, "My leader doesn't know what they're doing," eroding trust and increasing anxiety. The Leader's Playbook: Transforming Culture Your opportunity is to stop letting fear write the rest of your organizational story and actively transform your culture around AI. 3 Essential Steps for AI Implementation: Name the Change: Clarify what AI is and what it is not here to do, not just for the company, but for each position at the granular level. Clarify Expectations: Define what is acceptable and unacceptable to use AI for. Set clear performance measures and expectations for the outcome if misuse occurs. Invest in Skill Building: Provide training not just on the tool, but on the skill of prompt verification and critical assessment of AI output. You must articulate to your team: AI is here to augment you, to enhance you, not to erase you. Reinforce the need for human judgment for the final output. The human is still responsible for the answer, even if the tool provided the initial data. Bold Questions & Actions for This Week Tammy's challenge is to push pause and get the team involved in co-creating the AI strategy: Ask the Fear Question: Sit down with your team and ask: "What about AI really scares you the most right now?" Identify 'Dumb Work': Ask: "Where do you see that AI could remove some of the repetitive work we do so that you can do more of what you're brilliant at?" Co-Design an Experiment: Pick one process this month and work with your team to co-design a small AI experiment to increase familiarity and comfort. The Bottom Line: If your people cannot say out loud what they are afraid of, AI will quietly run your culture from the shadows. Lead the human side of automation.

https://teachhoops.com/ The first step to leadership is to establish and communicate a clear vision. This is the "why" and "where" that gives all work its purpose. A manager tells people what to do; a leader inspires them by painting a compelling picture of where they are going and why it matters. This step requires defining reality, setting clear expectations, and creating a shared sense of mission. When people believe in the destination, they are more willing to navigate the hard work and obstacles required to get there, looking to you not for instructions, but for direction. The second step is to transform that vision into decisive action. This is the bridge from an idea to a result. Effective leaders are architects of execution—they don't just talk about the goal, they build the plan to reach it. This involves "challenging the process" by questioning the status quo, making tough decisions, and holding both themselves and their team accountable for results. This action-oriented step is what builds credibility and momentum, proving that the vision is not just a dream but a tangible, achievable objective. The final and most crucial step is to invest in and empower your people. A vision is only achieved, and action is only sustained, through a team that feels valued, trusted, and connected. This step moves beyond management and into coaching. It means putting your people first, actively listening to their ideas, providing the resources they need to succeed, and creating opportunities for them to develop their own skills. By focusing on their growth, you build a resilient culture of trust and autonomy, which is the ultimate engine for sustainable success. Learn more about your ad choices.
