Om klass och kön med några starka kvinnliga konstnärskap. Sapfo, Big Mamma Thornton, Diamanda Galas. All musik är inte underhållning. En del manar till eftertanke, kanske till och med till motstånd och förvirring. Musik får politisk laddning för att den ingår i ett bestämt sammanhang. Ibland blir polariseringen mellan individer och grupper särskilt tydlig just i musik. Det är vad musikmagasinet Musik & Politik handlar om. Medverkande: Carin Bartosch Edström, tonsättare och författare, Kristine Scholz, pianist.Röst: Marie Skönblom, skådespelerska Skottes Musikteater.Gästkrönikör: David Lehnberg, musiker och låtskrivare.Produktion: Mikael Strömberg / GiG SapfoFör 3000 år sedan var musik på allvar. Det var inte okey att spela vilka skalor och melodier på vilka instrument som helst. Platon , Perikles och Pindaros gick till och med ännu längre än den svenska proggen som delade in musikinstrument i borgliga och inte borgliga instrument.För 3000 år sedan var musiken avgörande. Satens ledare, väktaren, var tvungen att använda melodierna med omsorg som led i en politisk fostran. Ändrade man i lagarna kunde samhällsordningen ruckas.Längst av alla gick Sokrates som anklagades för att ha försökt omstörta hela Grekland genom några otillåtna toner. Därför måste han tömma giftbägaren.Ungefär samtidigt hittar vi en kvinnlig lyriker, Sapfo från den grekiska ön Lesbos, vars texter levererar en progressiv kärlekslyrik som berättar om det allmänmänskligt politiska jaget-svartsjukan-individen-staten.Aldrig tidigare hade förälskelse framställts så omedelbart. Det är, som någon sagt, som att bevittna själva urcellen för inlevelsens hetta och iakttagelsens kyla, nuets turbulens och språkets eftertanke.Progressiv musik när den är som hetast. Hildegard von BingenDet sätt på vilket tyskan Hildegard von Bingen uppmärksammats är rent exceptionellt.Under senare delen av 1900-talet adopterade new age-rörelsen skyddshelgonet Hildegard och såg i henne ett tecken för allt möjligt: healing, doftterapi, karma. Unga feministrörelsen i Europa fick Hildegard som idol tack vare hennes texter om medeltida "queer power".Det var hårda bud att bli nunna på 1100-talet. Redan som åttaåring skickas hon i benediktinkloster. Samtidigt får hon sin första uppenbarelse och sammanställer fyrtio år senare en tjock bok, som bland annat förutser kyrkans sekularisering. Så hon bygger ett eget kloster på Rupertsberg vid Bingen.På Hildegards tid innebar sången en ritual, som att be två gånger. Sången riktades mot den akustiska punkt i valvet där ljudet förstärks av rummet och börjar självsvänga.Tanken är att musik är hörbar agitation. Ju enklare, desto bättre.Stjärnorna, planeterna, årstiderna, månaderna, åren, allt som rör sig och kanobserveras på himlavalvet, plus allt annat, försökte Bingen göra musik av. Big Mamma ThorntonLyssna till en kraftfull röst med en självkänsla som får övrig politisk musik att vekna. Det hände att publiken beskrev Big Mamma Thornton som hotfull. Men i själva verket hade hon en av historiens lödigaste blues-rock-röster.Thornton sökte sig till trummor och munspel och lärde sig hur man spelar genom att lyssna till andra musiker. Rösten hade hon redan från födseln, präglad av gospel i ett predikanthem.Klädd i stora arbetarskjortor och byxor undertrök hela hon en politisk avsikt. Hennes snabba call-and-response-utbyten med bandet kunde starta politisk debatt från scenen och konserten fick avbrytas.En feministisk forskare som Maureen Mahon har uppmärksammat hur Thornton bidrog med en kvinnlig röst till ett stilområde som fullständigt dominerades av vita män. Där hennes starka personlighet ruskade om flera stereotyper.1948 flyttar hon till Houston. En ny typ av blues är på väg till klubbarna, utsmyckad med blåsinstrument, studsiga rytmer och wisecracking texter. Det passar Big Mama Thornton perfekt.Hound Dog" gjorde henne till stjärna. Låten handlar om klass och kön. Och om den klassresa Elvis Presley sedan lyckas göra med samma låt. Diamanda GalasHon letar sig långt utanför musikens rågångar och tar ställning för rätten att leva ut oavsett etiketter och tillhörighet.Galas är rent av skrämmande obegränsad. Det finns något i hela hennes artisteri som kräver kaos. Inte bara som en provokation utan som en spark i skrevet på vår inrutade konsensusvärld.Viskande, skrikande, gurglande, sjungande, gestaltar hon den desperation som finns i hela begreppet musik och den förnedring det innebär att behöva fly för den man är.Lite högtidligt kan man säga att rösten är hennes fingeravtryck. Plötsligt en dag inser hon att hon blivit just den här människan på grund av rösten.Samtidigt är rösten lite kuslig för den har ingen fast kropp. Men vad rösten än är, så är den ofrånkomlig och finns överallt. Utan datorer. Utan flimrande monitorer. Knappt någon elektricitet alls. Rösten är kött och blod och luft.There are no more tickets to the funeral. Mikael Strömberg om ett musikliv i (o)balans. Trots att genusläget nuförtiden beskrivs som mer gynnsamt är herrklubbarna inte färre idag. De kvinnliga förebilderna är fortfarande för få. Som Syntjuntans Lise-Lotte Norelius påpekar: Som kvinnlig tonsättare måste jag slå vakt. Så snart jag slutar i en styrelse eller annat uppdrag, tar killarna över. Mellan 2011-2015 har det kunskapats och lunchats för 8 miljoner inom Musikverkets jämställdhetsuppdrag, och det måste ändå sägas vara väl använda pengar. För det tar tid att se och analysera strukturer och maktordningar i musiksektorn, där konstmusiken ligger sämst till.Operavärlden kan till och med beskrivas som en jämställdhetens avgrund.Bara ett exempel: KVAST (föreningen Kvinnlig Anhopning av Svenska Tonsättare) visar i en enkät från 2013 att 10 av 820 spelade verk på konserthus var tonsatta av kvinnor. Ynka 6 procent av konsertmusiken efter 1950 är komponerad av kvinnor.Statistiken gör ont. Och den avtäcker på ett närmast patologiskt vis hur kulturarbetare i ledande ställning (av bägge könen) metodiskt ägnar sig åt att förneka, förskjuta, förringar och (bort)förklara.Tänk så dumt, när det bara är att följa sångaren Nino Ramsbys exempel: Musiken är en hand att hålla i.
