"In my 15 years living in Nashville, I have been fortunate to watch a lot of friends like Kip Moore, Brett Eldredge, Florida Georgia Line, A Thousand Horses, Michael Ray and more, start their journeys with a back pack and a dream and end up being a huge success in country music. Yet the most frustrating part about being a friend and a fan to not just artist, but writers like Corey Crowder, Justin Weaver, Rick Huckaby, Westin Davis and many more, has been hearing amazing songs that will never leave the Nashville city limits.Rob Blackledge was tired, uninspired and most of all unsure of himself. Newly engaged to the redhead of his dreams, his most recent record deal ended abruptly when the label closed down. With no label, no job and no money, he prepared to walk down the aisle. And then the phone rang.On the other end of the line was Rob’s friend Stephen Barker Liles of country music’s duo Love and Theft. He was calling to tell Rob that a song they had written over a year ago was going to be released as Love and Theft’s first single to country radio. The song, “Runaway”, spent 47 weeks on the Billboard Country charts topping out at #9 and opening the door to Rob’s next adventure.In 2011 Rob helped start the country band Blackjack Billy. For four years, they toured the States, Australia and Canada with their hit song, “The Booze Cruise”.But the story wasn’t over. By November 2015 Rob knew it was time to get back to his roots. Back to a single mic on an empty stage, where the only thing that matters is the voice and the song and the story. A story that changes and inspires and got him here in the first place.

Join us this week as we welcome the country rock band, The Gillis Silo. The band traces its' roots back to Northern Afghanistan, where singer/songwriter Caleb Paul was deployed during 2012-2013 with the US Army. Caleb wrote many songs while in Kabul. Upon his return home to Baton Rouge he called upon seasoned musicians Jordan Snyder, Jared Daigle, Karl Boudreaux, and Josie Menard to carefully construct their alternative rock infused country sound. Since the band's first performance in January 2014, The Gillis Silo has made waves throughout the U.S. with their own brand of music that fans have dubbed "Country on the Rocks". They have had the privilege of sharing the stage with Florida Georgia Line, Eli Young Band, Trace Adkins, Collin Raye, Tracy Byrd, Aaron Lewis, Jana Kramer, Chris Young, Easton Corbin, Parmalee, Billy Dean, Blackjack Billy, and members of Shenandoah. In exciting news for 2015, they will be releasing their debut EP "Pieces Of The Highway". Chart-topping teen country artist, Josey Milner has received two nominations in the 2015 Midwest Music Awards. The Kansas City-based singer is nominated for Best Country Artist and Song of the Year, for her single, "Cowgirls." It is the first country song to receive such a nomination. Josey Milner is a 19-year-old Kansas City-based country music artist. She has performed at clubs, fairs and events with her own band and opening for artists like Scotty McCreery, Chris Cagle, Blackjack Billy, Jon Wolfe and others. A CMT.com Top 20 Most Popular Artist, she has been nominated for the Nashville Universe Awards, the Independent Country Music Association Awards, and the International Music and Entertainment Association Awards.  Josey is an "Angel Ambassador" for national anti-bullying non-profit, Angels and Doves, as well as working closely with Shriner's Hospitals for Children and Piasecki MD. Her current release is a cover of Patsy Cline's classic, "Walkin' After Midnight." 

This week, we're bringing you a special roundtable interview with the artists on the upcoming Bands On The Run Tour - Doc Walker, The Road Hammers, and Blackjack Billy. Doc Walker is dropping their eighth studio album - appropriately titled The 8th - on Oct. 21st, featuring the already-hit singles "That's How I Like It" and "Shake It Like It's Saturday Night." It's the band's first full-length without longtime member Murray Pulver, so we'll talk about readjusting to life on the road and how the new material will take shape on the stage. As for the Road Hammers, their record Wheels has been doing well since dropping earlier this year. Frontman Jason McCoy talks about some of the differences between performing as a member of the trio vs. his solo tours and a lot more. Noll Billings, vocalist with Blackjack Billy, also weighs in on the band's experiences in Canada thus far and what they're anticipating for this upcoming run with their friends. Finally, in CM Academy, we speak with James Boyle, the current executive director of the Halifax Pop Explosoin, who's getting ready for his first run at the helm. The lineup this year features acts like Against Me!, Danny Brown, and our Nov/Dec 2014 cover artists, Zeds Dead.
