Send in your music story!Ever watch a stranger melt down in public and wonder what the right response should be? We start with a jaw-dropping Walmart story—complete with aisle-side outrage and a hero repeating “why are you mad?”—and turn it into a bigger conversation about empathy, language barriers, and how to keep your dignity when everything feels loud. No lectures, just honest debate about patience, translation apps, and the tiny choices that make life easier for everyone. From there, we jump into a home-repair misadventure that would make any new homeowner sweat: a contractor who shows up with painter's tape and no materials, a realtor with disappearing texts, and the case for clear communication. We talk tipping etiquette for delivery apps and why incentives matter, then shift gears into a moment of tenderness: Taylor's hand-drawn cardinal for her dad, honoring a loved one with art that blends craft and memory. And then it's pure joy. We pull up Spotify Wrapped confessions and rank the 10 songs everyone knows, singing along to the anthems that turn bars into choirs and cars into stages. From Sweet Caroline and Don't Stop Believin' to Mr. Brightside, Wannabe, All the Small Things, Hey Ya, Bohemian Rhapsody, and We Will Rock You, we argue, laugh, and admit which tracks make us want to rage or cry in the best way. It's nostalgia, karaoke energy, and the shared soundtrack that proves music still ties us together when words fail.Grab a zero-sugar boost made with coffee-based caffeine, check out our new merch, and hang with us for a ride that's messy, human, and weirdly uplifting. Obesity is a serious and costly chronic disease that has been widely recognized as a public health epidemic. Although there are accessible, affordable, and straightforward tools to address it in individuals and broader communities, obesity remains a widespread public health threat that increases one's risk for developing other conditions such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and some forms of cancer. Trust for America's Health recently published its “State of Obesity 2025” report, which notes that Arkansas has the fifth-highest adult obesity rate in the nation. To learn more about the state of obesity in Arkansas and policy options to address it, we're joined on this episode of the Wonks at Work podcast by Dr. Arlo Kahn, ACHI's medical director and a professor in the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences who has dedicated much of the last quarter century to addressing this issue.

Neal Schon, founder and guitarist of Journey, joins Eddie Trunk to express his disappointment about rock bands being overlooked for the Super Bowl halftime show in San Francisco. He suggests a Bay Area showcase featuring Journey, Metallica, and Santana would've been perfect for the occasion. Schon also reveals Journey's plans for an extensive tour in 2026-2027 with longer sets featuring deep cuts from their catalog beyond the 'Dirty Dozen' hits. He shares insights about improved relationships within the band after their year-long break and discusses his daily guitar practice routine that keeps his playing sharp. The conversation touches on potential future collaborations, his solo projects, and the fascinating origin story behind 'Don't Stop Believin'.' After that, former Scorpions guitarist Uli Jon Roth joins Eddie Trunk to discuss his upcoming 'Pictures of Destiny' US tour, which combines symphonic rock compositions with visual art and celebrates the 50th anniversaries of the influential Scorpions albums 'In Trance' and 'Virgin Killer.' He shares stories about his recent successful shows in Japan, his artistic approach combining music with oil paintings, and an upcoming festival in Germany where German metal bands will join him to celebrate the legacy of early Scorpions material. The end of an era—or at least it should have been. In Glee 5×13, “New Directions,” the Glee Club is officially over, Sue has won, and McKinley's choir room gets packed up for good this time. But instead of a graceful farewell to the kids we know and love, we get an episode written like a series finale… even though the show still had another season and a half to go. Oh, Glee.Join us (and we mean all of us) as we unpack the chaos: Holly Holiday roller-skating the Animal Husbandry Club into a bubble party, Tina incurring yet another head injury, Quinn and Puck getting back together for the thrill of it all, and Brittany gifting Santana “the lesbian of flowers." Meanwhile, Rachel and Santana feud, make up, and feud again—all while the writers bend over backwards to absolve Rachel of five seasons' worth of sins. Not in our house. We talk “Don't Stop Believin'” attempt number 47, the farewell montage that really should have ended the series, and Sue's shockingly heartfelt declaration of love (respect? enemies to lovers endgame??) for Will Schuester. It's messy, sentimental, and pure Glee.Maybe the episode wasn't a delight—but we were. But we're biased.xoxoGotRFind us on the Internet: https://linktr.ee/fandomontherocksSupport the pod: Patreon.com/fandomontherocksCreate your own podcast today with Zencastr and share your story. #madewithZencastr

Today the guys continue our study and examine 1 Peter 1:3–9. To choose allegiance to Christ and His Kingdom is to enter into conflict and enmity with the world wherever you may roam. What does it mean that our inheritance is kept in heaven? Are we Livin' on a Prayer, or is it true that the world Can't Touch This salvation we hope for as we follow The Man, the Lord Jesus Christ? Don't Stop Believin'—don't miss out on the great things God is calling us into! Pick your walk-up song and get ready for the endgame in today's episode of the After Class Podcast.

If you're a fan of classic rock, there's no escaping the unmistakable sound of Neal Schon, the legendary guitarist and founding member of Journey. With a career spanning over five decades, Schon's soaring guitar solos, emotional phrasing, and rock-solid riffs have helped define generations of music fans. From his early days with Santana to global superstardom with Journey and beyond, Neal Schon remains one of the most respected and enduring figures in the world of rock and roll.Born in Oklahoma and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Neal Schon was surrounded by music from day one. His father was a jazz saxophonist, his mother a singer — so it was no surprise when Neal picked up the guitar at just 10 years old. By the time he hit his teens, he was playing with the kind of precision and passion most guitarists spend decades trying to master. At 15, Neal made rock history by joining Santana, turning down an audition with Eric Clapton's Derek and the Dominos to do so. Neal's work introduced him to the world and shaped his unique blend of Latin-infused rock, blues, and jazz.In '73, Neal and keyboardist Gregg Rolie left Santana to form a new band — one that would later become the rock giant Journey. Originally intended as a jazz-fusion group, Journey's early albums were adventurous and musically rich. Success came in '77 when Steve Perry joined the band. His soaring vocals paired perfectly with Neal's melodic guitar work, and Journey's sound found its sweet spot: catchy, emotional, stadium-ready rock anthems. Neal's riffs and solos became the soundtrack of a generation. The album Escape alone went 9x Platinum and featured some of the band's biggest hits — including that eternal anthem.Of all the songs Neal has ever recorded, Don't Stop Believin' remains the crown jewel. It has become one of the most instantly recognisable songs in rock history. It took on a second life in the 2000s thanks to The Sopranos finale, Glee, and a million karaoke bars around the world.Today, Don't Stop Believin' is the most downloaded digital song of the 20th century. While Journey was (and is) Neal's main gig, he's never stopped exploring musically. In the mid-'80s, he formed bands with Sammy Hagar and later with John Waite and Journey's Jonathan Cain.Journey has seen its share of lineup changes, but Neal Schon has always been its heart and soul. Whether alongside Steve Perry, Steve Augeri, or Arnel Pineda, Neal's guitar has anchored the band's sound and kept fans coming back for more.Journey released Freedom in 2022, their first album of all-new material in over a decade. 2023 marked Journey's 50th anniversary, and Neal celebrated in style. The band embarked on their Freedom Tour, playing to sold-out arenas around the globe. Fans from every generation came out to hear the hits — and see Schon light up the stage with his signature Les Paul and fiery solos. As of 2025, Neal Schon is still touring, still recording, and still pushing himself as a player. Whether he's performing Journey classics, exploring new musical territory, or collaborating with old friends, he remains a true rock icon. With over 50 years in the industry, millions of records sold, and a legacy that spans generations, Neal Schon isn't just part of rock history — he is rock history. So next time you hear that soaring solo in Faithfully, that chugging riff in Any Way You Want It, or the unforgettable opening of Don't Stop Believin', tip your hat to Neal Schon — the guitar legend who made it all sing.

The Jay Franze Show: Your backstage pass to the entertainment industry
Send us a textA chance encounter at CMA Fest turns into show gold as Scarlett Jackson joins Jay Franze and Tiffany Mason to share her behind-the-scenes experience working the Shenandoah booth. What begins as friendly banter about Jay's "new best friend" evolves into a fascinating glimpse into Nashville's country music scene through the eyes of someone who bridges fan and industry perspectives.Scarlett's Mississippi charm shines as she recounts meeting artists like Cole Goodwin, Jake Worthington, and Trey Calloway, offering listeners insider updates on upcoming singles and performances. The conversation naturally flows into deeper territory when the trio dives into the Recording Academy's decision to split country music Grammy categories into "traditional" and "contemporary." This sparks a thoughtful debate about what constitutes authentic country sound in today's evolving landscape, with everyone weighing in on which current artists are keeping traditional country alive.Between updates on Lainey Wilson's Country Music Hall of Fame exhibit, Lauren Alaina's journey into motherhood, and Led Zeppelin's surprising new album announcement, the hosts pose their question of the day: "If your life had a soundtrack, what would the opening song be?" The responses—ranging from Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" to the Dixie Chicks' "Wide Open Spaces"—reveal the personalities behind the microphones and create an intimate connection with listeners who eagerly share their own selections. The easy chemistry between Jay, Tiffany, and their guest makes for an entertaining, laughter-filled hour that feels like eavesdropping on friends catching up over coffee. Whether you're a die-hard country music fan curious about industry shifts or simply enjoy authentic conversations with heart and humor, this episode delivers both substance and joy in equal measure. Tune in for insights, updates, and a reminder of why country music's community spirit remains its greatest strength.LinksJay Franze: https://JayFranze.comVirtually You: https://www.virtuallyyouva.com/NOAPOLOGY: https://www.youtube.com/@noapologyofficialHalocene: https://www.youtube.com/@HaloceneSarabella Franze (TikTok): https://www.tiktok.com/@official.b.ella Support the show
On this week's show we look at our favorite TV Series Finales from Network and Cable TV. We also read your emails and take a look at the week's news. News: TCL Will Add Dolby Atmos FlexConnect to QD-Mini LED TVs Apple's smart home hub could reportedly make its debut later this year YouTube leads US TV viewing for 3rd consecutive month Top Series Finales of Network/Cable TV Shows Here is a rundown of our favorite TV Series Finales. What are your favorites? M*A*S*H – "Goodbye, Farewell and Amen" (CBS, February 28, 1983) This 2.5-hour finale remains the highest-rated scripted TV episode in U.S. history, with a 72% audience share. It masterfully blended comedy and drama, reflecting the show's tone. The Korean War ends, and the 4077th unit disbands, with emotional farewells like Hawkeye's helicopter spotting B.J.'s "GOODBYE" in stones. The Sopranos - “Made in America” (HBO, June 10, 2007) The final episode leaves viewers with a cliffhanger that remains open to interpretation. Tony Soprano is at a diner with his family when the screen cuts to black as a suspicious-looking man glances at him. The ending doesn't explicitly confirm whether Tony is killed, but rather leaves the audience to wonder if he will continue to live under the threat of violence inherent to his mob life. The episode's iconic music, Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'," plays in the background, adding to the tension and suspense. The Mary Tyler Moore Show – "The Last Show" (CBS, March 19, 1977) When WJM-TV's new owner fires the entire newsroom except the incompetent Ted Baxter, the team shares a tearful group hug, and Mary delivers a poignant monologue. Her final act of turning off the studio lights became an iconic TV trope. Snowfall - “The Struggle” (FX, April 19, 2023) The Snowfall saga chronicled the origins and spread of crack cocaine in South Central and how it ultimately threw Los Angeles neighbourhoods into chaos. Anti-hero Franklin Saint, who we first met on a bright summer day full of promise and big dreams, ended the series on that same street hopeless, delusional and destitute. He was last seen wandering away from the house he bought for his mother - his final possession - as officers from the L.A. Sheriff's Department swooped in to evict him over unpaid property taxes. Newhart – "The Last Newhart" (CBS, May 21, 1990) This finale is legendary for its meta twist. After eight seasons of running a Vermont inn, Dick Loudon (Bob Newhart) is hit by a golf ball and wakes up as Dr. Bob Hartley from The Bob Newhart Show (1972–1978), next to his wife Emily (Suzanne Pleshette), revealing the entire series was a dream. The Office - “Finale” (NBC, May 16, 2013) One year later, Dunder Mifflin employees past and present reunite for a panel discussion about the documentary and to attend Dwight and Angela's wedding. The episode features cameos and wraps up several character storylines, with characters attending the wedding and reflecting on their lives and experience. Pretty much everyone gets a happy ending - “That's what she said.” Asian Jim - The Office US Cheers – "One for the Road" (NBC, May 20, 1993) Watched by over 80 million viewers, this 98-minute finale wrapped up the Sam-Diane romance with honesty. Diane (Shelley Long) returns, but instead of a fairy-tale ending, Sam chooses his bar—his true love—over rekindling their relationship. The final line, “Sorry, we're closed,” delivered to a late-night customer, symbolizes the show's end. Justified - “The Promise” (FX, April 14, 2015) After five seasons of rivalry and dare we say friendship, Justified's sixth and final season saw Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens put his "nemesis" Boyd Crowder behind bars. But that isn't what made the finale so incredible. Aside from giving just about every character a bit of closure, there was one scene that we'll never forget: Raylan sitting across from Boyd in prison as he lies about Ava's death and then, when asked why he traveled long and far to deliver the news in person, he finally admitted the one thing viewers have always known - that Boyd isn't his enemy. Goggins then perfectly delivered the line that said everything about their relationship: "We dug coal together." The Big Bang Theory – "The Stockholm Syndrome" (CBS, May 16, 2019) Sheldon and Amy's Nobel win, paired with his heartfelt tribute to his friends, closed the sitcom with sentimentality and growth, though some felt it was overly tidy Friends – "The Last One" (NBC, May 6, 2004) With 52.5 million viewers, this finale delivered closure for the six friends' arcs. Monica and Chandler move to the suburbs with their twins, Ross and Rachel reunite, and the group leaves Monica's apartment for the last time. It balanced humor, nostalgia, and emotional payoff without overstaying its welcome. The Good Place – "Whenever You're Ready" (NBC, January 30, 2020) This philosophical comedy concluded with the characters choosing when to leave their afterlife, reflecting the show's themes of morality and growth. Emotional farewells, especially Eleanor's influence on Chidi, resonated deeply, set against a hopeful yet bittersweet tone. There is a really good series twist at the end of season one as well. Which brings up the concept of season ending cliffhangers. Maybe for another show!
We're celebrating our 10th anniversary all year by digging in the vaults to re-present classic episodes with fresh commentary. Today, we're revisiting our 2021 conversation with Steve Perry. ABOUT STEVE PERRYOne of the most iconic voices in rock music history, Steve Perry is best known as the lead singer of the band Journey during the group's most successful period. His first Top 20 pop hit as either a performer or songwriter was the solo-written “Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin',” which became a hit for the band in 1979. In the following decade he co-wrote an unbelievable streak of classic songs with Neil Shon and Jonathan Cain, including “Any Way You Want It,” “Who's Crying Now,” “Open Arms,” “Separate Ways,” ”Send Her My Love,” and “Don't Stop Believin',” a single that's been certified five times platinum. His 1984 debut solo album Street Talk produced the classic singles “Oh Sherrie” and “Foolish Heart.” After penning additional Journey hits “Be Good to Yourself,” “Girl Can't Help It,” and “I'll be Alright Without You” he departed the band and released his second solo album, For the Love of Strange Medicine, featuring the single “You Better Wait.” After briefly reuniting with Journey and co-writing the additional hits “When You Love a Woman” and “Message of Love” in the mid-1990s, he stepped away from recording. Steve returned in 2018 with his third solo album, Traces. In 2021 he released his fourth solo record, a holiday collection called The Season, produced by Steve and Thom Flowers, and featuring contributions from multi-instrumentalist Dallas Kruse. The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, whom Rolling Stone magazine named among the “100 Greatest Singers of All Time” joins us to talk about exploring the great American Christmas songbook from a writer's perspective, to share some stories about his own songs, and to offer some insight into his approach to the craft.
Have you been moving through life feeling like there's something else out there? You can't put your finger on it. Even though nothing outwardly seems off, there's more to the story than you've been told or that you can see. Something's not adding up, but how do you make 2+2=4?For Jill Valdez, this crept up on her in a hundred small ways. Although she went through some experiences that were far less traumatic for her than they are for others – there was always something else behind door #1.Born to an 18-year-old mother who put her up for adoption, Jill was raised in a conservative Christian home – but it didn't feel constricting to her. Her values included faith and knowing that you reap what you sow – all well and good, but she'd come back to question those later. When she was 15, she felt like she lost both her adoptive parents at once when her mother died and her father emotionally abandoned the family as he became a workaholic to deal with grief that would affect him for many years. Jill went through a rebellious-teenager streak, but recognized that wasn't the life she wanted. Both she and her husband were called to traditional pastoral work, which she enjoyed until she decided to change how she leads people. Jill went through a lot, but somehow it always worked out. Everything seemed fine. But Fine, as you know, is a 4-Letter Word.It definitely was NOT fine when shortly after her sister died, a man at church asked, “where's your smile?” For f*cks sake, her sister had just died! It also wasn't fine when her beloved nephew Kirky died just 11 days after being diagnosed with acute leukemia. Nor was it fine that Jill wasn't sure she knew where she came from, other than that she was adopted. So, she did her homework, found her maternal grandmother, and gave her a call. It took two hours to get through… but her grandmother, with whom she had never communicated before, instantly knew who was calling. As Jill got to know her biological mother, she discovered that being put up for adoption was a blessing. They have a great relationship now – and good thing they didn't know each other when Jill was growing up!In a moment, when you meet Jill, you'll discover what could be a new point of view about why things happen. That in order to be authentic, it's okay to question your values and the world as you see it, even if you come to agree that it's… fine. Or more than fine, for that matter. And as you hear about what Jill is doing now with her consulting work, helping her clients get out of the weeds of chaos, it may hit you like a boomerang right at the end how everything she's gone through has led to this moment. Jill's hype song is "Don't Stop Believin'" by Journey.Resources:Jill Valdez' website: https://www.linkconsulting.info/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jillvaldezlink/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/j_valdezlink/Invitation From Lori:This episode is sponsored by Zen Rabbit.
